New Resistance 2 footage hits YouTube

PS3 Fanboy brings word that a new slice of Resistance 2 footage has popped up on YouTube after appearing on (then disappearing from) Eurogamer TV. If you want a fresh look at Sony's big FPS for the fall, watch it while it's hot. There's a good chance this instance of the video will get pulled soon as well.

Update: We have removed the embedded YouTube player as a courtesy to Sony. (It's still up on YouTube though!)

As for the game itself: I LOVE twitch shooters and this game seriously makes me jealous of the PS3 owners.

There's CG at the beginning (the flag part) and at the end (the teaser that's now over a month old) but the stuff in between looks like in-engine. The water isn't perfect and there are some flat sides on the plants.

I say 'solid games' because they have yet to make a mega-hit a la GTAIV/COD4/Gears/Halo/MG. R&C series is solid but it is not mind blowing perfect 10's, get everyone talking about it, kinda game.

Honestly I know its still in dev but the MP in R2 looks like a COD4 clone. Yes I know its gonna have a lot of player on at once but for what? They will have specific agendas through out that game and you really will never see alllll those players in that match. Its Overhyped just like Insomciac.

IMO, R1 was just okay, if it would have been multiplat when it first debuted it would have already been forgotten but because its an *exclusive* it gets more attn.

Trev, ok I see 1 maybe 2 *flashes of in-game footage. 98% CG and 2% in game. Shouldn't they be showing more in-game by now?

Actually, they used to be underrated by gamers, it wasn't until now long ago that they are releasing more titles more often that they are getting the acclaim that they deserve...

Hell, they have been actually quite famous inside the video game business...to the point in which they are considered one of the best studios to work for...

There are 2 things to expect from Insomniac

1) they will not show much CG, most if not all of the videos that they make available are in game, probably not gameplay, but on the engine.

2) They don't delay their games, I have yet to hear of one delay that they have had...

I can do the same and name quite a few 360 titles that just get attention due to the fact that they are exclusive...

Fenix, this isnt CG. CG is much smoother. This was definitely created in engine. Even the flag scene is in engine.

hahahahahaha Fenix, Resistace is the best game i ever played! no other shooter got me in to shooting games like resistance did, not even Halo, Socom or any other game. the only shooting games that i played before resistace was resident evil and GTA games. but resistance in my opinion was perfect story and online, because people have to admid that online is awesome. well resistance is not an "ok" game ok.!

Calling R1 mediocre is very generous.

Maybe it's because I got my PS3 after the games drought so R1 didn't get automatic praise from me due to their being so few other games worth playing, but man did I just find that game substandard by shooter standards.

It's one of only three games this entire generation that I bought and didn't bother finishing, and I buy a LOT of games.

Trev's seemingly the only one whose got a decent pair of eyes here. It's two slices of CG bread sandwiching a not so meaty in-engine cutscene. And Fenix, all this is is marketing material created to generate excitement. It's really not so different from say, the Mad World Gears of War CG TV spot. If you want actual gameplay coverage (which, admittedly, I think looks rather underwhelming), take a look at the GTTV episode from June 13 when they visited Burbank.

I have to agree with Fenix. I own R1 and never really understood why it received so much attention. there really wasn't anything special about it. Mediocre at best.

yeah this is probably one of the stupidest comments i've ever heard. saying a studio is a failure because they have yet to make a game which is one of the top 10 selling games of all time? do you even understand how stupid this is?

Yes, I saw that show and thats where I got my COD4 clone opinion from. I mean, the game actually looked terrible. I know theres a lot of time left so it will get better but excuse me for not pissing my pants with this game just yet.

Exactly, I rented the game too and was not impressed. Maybe because I had aleady played much better quality? Its a very standard shooter, nothing special which is why they are changing the whole game around for part 2.

The footage was rendered with the in-game engine in real time. The stuff you saw in the video you won't play, but will do the standard "zoom out from cutscene and into character transition" that the industry has become so fond of. Basically what you should take away from this is after the cinimatic at 1:11 which is probably taken directly from the game you will take control of the character and the game itself will look much like what you saw. Kinda like the opening scene in Bioshock.

Now the final game, well who knows how good it will be. I personally am hoping for the best but wish Insomniac would give up this FPS theme and create a new platformer. We have plenty of shooters, we need new platformers.

Personally, I loved R1. Nothing groundbreaking, but the gameplay was solid and the weapon selection sets it apart from most shooters these days. I really think you need to play the game in co-op to truly appreciate it though. I was unimpressed the first time I played, but after I played some co-op I loved it. I've played through the game completely in co-op 4 or 5 times. I've not done with any other game this generation... well, maybe Gears. It's a great co-op experience too.

I'm probably not going to bother with it just because it looks like it is set in New Fucking York. I'm am sick of that city being overused in games, it's a freaking cliche. 98% of America and 99.9% of the world lives in a place not called New York, try using a different setting. Maybe Chicago, Denver, Dallas, Atlanta or maybe Seattle. Or even outside America you can try Rio, Sydney, Bangkok, or Johannesburg. Anything but yet another game set in New York.

Finally I'm seeing people who aren't sucking Resistance 2 off. I don't hate RFOM but its a clone it copied probably the only thing fully original were its weapons. Gamespot might give this a nine and GT might gives this a nione but in reality its a 8.5 part 1 should have been an 8 for no online coop.

Insomniac neds to go back to what they do best Platformers and maybe whip out another Spyro there spyros were the best of the lot. I love Rachet and Clank they need to go back and focus fully on them. I'd like it better if they were the ones making an open world game instead of Sucker Punch.

I'm again gonna sound like I hate Resistance but the narration in the trailer reminds of Gears of War a lot I'm sorry but I can't lie that Narration sounds too much like the Locust Queen during the MP matches in Gears and at the Ending of story mode.
