Activision CEO Bobby Kotick and co-chairman Brian Kelly have each received bonuses from the company of approximately $3 million each. Michael Griffith, CEO of Activision Publishing, also received a bonus according to SEC filings, but his was only for around $1.5 million -- poor guy. The bonuses were given due to Activision's incredible success last year.
With the Vivendi merger imminent, it's worth noting some analysts find Activision an excellent investment. It's not every day you can clearly point to a game publisher and see guaranteed profits in the near future.

unfortunetly the world works this way. The rich get richer and the hard workers continue to work hard. Its a real shame how life is. 3000 years ago, no1 would of expected this kind of crap to be the norm.
Most average people have to work their asses off, just so they can buy the small things they enjoy in life, like video games. Then we see the companies that made the games, have the CEOs recieving 1.5 milion bonuses, more money then some of use will make in our lifetime. Maybe if the company inconvineced 2 of its members and made 3 million$ less, then the average person who works and buys the games could pay $40 for a new game, instead of $60. amd 10s of thousands of people could have an easier life, instead of just 2 people.
But things wont change. Nobody wants to make a fair living when they have the oportunity to make more. Sure a game company could be profitable with normal saleries selling games at $10 a game. But why do that when people are willing to pay $60 a game, and they can be rich instead.

I don't think it's the merger, I think Activision just bought up a few thousand Nintendo DS and Wiis and just hired someone to hit the "Print Money" button on each of them 24/7.

Yeah, except that they made their billions driving franchises into the ground.

"But not the people who make the games? The cooperate shills deserve the money, but not the creators?
What are you, some sort of uber fascist?"
Actually the many companies give the creators of the games bonuses based on sales and metacritic scores also. Obviously every programmer doesn't get millions but comapanies can't afford to give everyone millions.

Guitar Hero - Aerosmith & Rocks the 80's
Tony Hawk - The last 4 installments
I think they are well on their way.

You know Harmonix developed Rock the 80s, right?
Activision was only the publisher of GH2-80s.

You mean like, yesterday?
Maybe it's me, but staring at the screen so hard that my eyes bleed because I have to hit the note at EXACTLY the right time is what's not fun to me (aka the guitar on Rock Band).
I love the timing window GH gives, so you can actually rock out and have a good time while you play. Just don't play the game on expert where the note charts get ridiculous, as GH on hard is pretty much the same as RB on expert anyway, but with the better timing window.

The timing window is the problem for me. When I am completely off and mess up I expect there to be a consequence, but with the timing window it's way to forgiving.

Thats why Aerosmith is actually really great!
They tightened GH3's way too loose window, but it is still a bit more loose than GH2's. I love GHA's Ho-po engine.
