Wow. I'm going to break out the old SNES after hearing this.

I pray to the gods that they make it an exact port from SNES to DS. If they try to remastered or remake it, I'll literally go crazy.

and PLEASE let this make way for a Secret of Mana DS port. Please.

Secret Of Mana would be awesome, but Seiken Densetsu 3 (its sequel, in case you didn't know) is sooo much more awesome. Oh please, Squeenix, make SD3 for DS!

Ok that's it, no more reasons, this goes straight in my shelf without thinking twice

Now we only lack of EarthBound and Secret of Mana and the DS has all the best quality RPGs ever.

I agree.
The ONLY thing I could complain about in SOM is the magic spell menu. Pressing start every time you cast a spell while playing 2 or 3 players just became unnecessary. With the DS's wireless connection and it's touch screen for spell/item menu, it would be a perfect game, imo.
And actually, I could handle the lack of EarthBound if they'd just release Mother 3 in English.

I'm not Jas...oh, I'm sure plenty of people sent this news in. No biggie.

Though the real biggie of this situation is clearly that they're only doing a remake (like every other FF and DQ game they're doing) so can get more than the $8 for the typical SNES price.

Or SE could be continuing with that originality streak and be making a third game.

More than likely it will be an enhanced port, just like FF3 and 4.

Here's hoping for some neat stylus features.

So all those promises of the DS revolutionising gaming are going to be fulfilled by......endless SNES remakes done in 3D?

YAWN!

I would agree with you, but when the SNES was in it's heyday, I didn't have any money, so my library of SNES games was basically Mario and.....er....Mario. It would be nice to see some of the classic SNES games come back on the DS (and I love all the ones on the GBA, it was the fulfilment of a lot of childhood dreams).

I'm actually in the same boat as aj.

My SNES collection consisted of Mario games, Kirby Super Star, Avalanche, and Dreamland 3, and a bunch of third party crap games. Never owned A Link to the Past until the GBA game came out, same with FF IV and VI. I actually still don't have FF V, and I'm waiting for Earthbound to come out on VC. I finally got Super Metroid when it came out on VC.

Now Chrono Trigger is finally coming out on DS and, even though I've played it so many times on an emulator, I never owned the game legitly.

Awesome. When does that put it into my grubby little North American hands, eh? 2009 or so?

Ah hell. I already bought Chrono Trigger AND Final Fantasy IV for PlayStation. Why bother buying the same thing in a new package? Square is getting lazy. But they'll probably make a billion dollars on the deal. And I'll probably buy it anyways.

WHOOOOAAAAAMGGGGGGGGGG~!

i seriously hope it's not a card game type of spinoff like kingdom hearts. what a terrible disappointment that would be.

they should just redo the graphics like they're doing to final fantasy. same story, same everything *THUMBS UP*

Just saw the link on OCR after wanting to make a Golden Sun album request after popping Chrono Symphonic on after seeing someone bring up CT on a "[FFIV(DS)] makes a FFVII remake more of a possibility" thread.

... wow, what a strand.

Anyway, just texted everyone on my cell phone who I know or suspect to be interested in this. Came here to drop the line, but, eh, I'm slow. Jeez, this is finally coming true. I was thinking "maybe a new game," but the URL makes that hard to believe. Oh, here's to hoping that touch-screen dynamics finally meet with a game born for them (at least from what I think I can tell).

I remember when there were polls here to determine what the most awaited game for the DS was and CT consistently came up on top.

This is ablsolutely incredible. I hope they give it the FFIV treatment.

Looks like Square Enix are further confirming the fact that the DS is the place to be for RPG's these days.

My ears just perked up, but I won't be showing interest until I know exactly what's going on -- a spinoff, a port, 2D or 3D, et cetera.

Still, I have a friend who loves CT so much that he might buy a DS JUST for this game.

square enix must be running out of original ideas for new rpgs, since remakes seem to be the bulk of their up and coming projects haha.
