Somewhat off topic here, but I just saw/read the part about the Leviathan boss in R2....holy piss that's one huge boss (about 300 feet tall)

Definitely looking forward to somehow taking that bastard down.

Looks like the Brumak from Gears. I wanna see if this game lives up to the hype or if it gets a 'solid game' 8.0 to 9.0 stamp to it. Definitely wanna get my Trophy collection started with quality games...

I think Bioshock deserves it's place up there for best FPS story. Not to mention Portal and Half Life.

And to side track, the moment you compare your game to existing games, you are already putting yourself in the faliure category.

An singer to be shouldn't be thinking 'I'm the next Mariah Carey' they should be thinking 'remember the name Ashley Clark' because it'll be in the history books.

Killzone is and always will be Killzone alone, its not a Halo beater, its not the Halo equivalent, its just Killzone, fullstop, now, being killzone, we can decide whether it is better then or worse then other games.

These are GamePro's words. Magazines do stupid stuff like this all the time. Dungeon Siege, the Diablo Killer! Being a good game is never good enough for attention starved magazines.

Although, Sega is one company who used to pull the comparative crap all the time. How'd that work out for ya, Sega? :)

Oh come on guys Halo 3 is completely overrated. I love the multiplayer just like anyone else who plays halo but its not the end all be all of shooters because in single player its f'in horrible. I think the articles part about being bigger than CoD4 is regarding its campaign mode since you can beat CoD4 in like freakin 4 hours lol, same for halo 3. I dunno i have all the systems so i buy every good game that comes out, but i really did love Resistance FoM and it wasnt the prettiest game out being as its a launch title but it was fun to play, especially with Co-Op we all had a blast with that. And of course they weapons in the game were awesome, the spine grenades etc... AWESOME

Your view of RFoM is very similar to mine. I thought the game was very good in co-op and I loved the weapon selection. I played through co-op completely probably 4-5 times with my brother and friends. Maybe we'll have to hook up for some co-op in R2. If they stick with their 8-player co-op goal we'll need people to fill all those slots.

Why are all you guys getting excited about this? Yeah, it's hype-tastic. But if you saw the video of CliffyB talking up Gears of War at the 360 launch (about a year before Gears came out), you'd see super megaton hype there. It was going to be the 2nd coming of shooters. It was gonna be cinematic, blah blah.

And you know what? It actually almost met the levels of hype it had.

So don't get overexcited, just wait for the game to come out and then play it and judge it (maybe use GameFly or something).

Halo was just a good PC shooter on a console, which made it the best shooter on a console, which in people's opinions made it the best game ever.

I played Halo and thought it was good. It had an entertaining story and smooth gameplay. However, it was incredibly repetative and only had about 3 unique enviroments. Once you got past the first few levels, the game lost a lot of its lustre. When you got to the library the game fell flat on its face. Even with its flaws the game was still the best FPS for a console.

Halo is just an average game compared to the other PC FPS availabel at the time and what came before it. Half-Life set the bar so high and no game has achieved what that game did when it was released. Halo multiplayer wasn't even worth playing on the PC, but it was the best multiplayer shooter for a console. SO for a console Halo defined the FPS genre, but as a FPS game in the grand scheme, it was just average.

Resistance was a very solid shooter. The controls were great, it had a pretty good story, weapons were good and varied. It also had a lengthy single player campaign with quite a few memorable moments. For that it was a better single player game than Halo 2&3 and COD4. Multiplayer however was just average. I didn't buy the game for multiplayer though, I bought it for a solid single player game.

Anytime a game needs to be compared to another game to garner headlines.....you know its a high probability that its mediocre.

Truly great games stand on their own.

You realize that magazine covers are for sell right? They're the most prominent ads in the magazine. Resistance 2 promises too much considering that the original Resistance did the same and was decent but not great; I really don't hold alot of interest in this game. Nor Killzone 2, because Killzone was terrible.
I'm not sure if you noticed but Resistance is typical. Its a formula game much like there are formula movies. Consider that they've attempted to attract you through the use of aliens and exotic weapons, ala Halo series, and through a WW2 like setting which has been popular through gamees like COD or MoH. Its not surprising to see one of their biggest ads trying to highlight this.
The game we should be hyped for is Fallout 3. Now thats a creative game.

Killzone wasn't terrible :( It was just flawed and suffered from idiots hyping it up as a Halo-killer. I still think the art design and environments were great. I wouldn't say I have high hopes for Killzone 2, but I'm keeping a close eye on it.

Killzone yeah was pretty trash but thats why Killzone 2 can kinda make it and plus they have months extra time to improve feb 09.

Halo 3 multiplayer is fun as hell just get four friend and you'll have a blast in Team slayer and if you need more there is always Big team ranked and social slayer. The campaign is very fun with 4 ppl especially Cortana.

Resistance I don't like that much because its a good company going into the wrong direction I mean Insomniac was great at platformers, why go to shooters we have like 20 of those a year and only a few manage to say hey buy console and plus thhey madfe a pretty average shooter but added more ppl into the fray kinda. 20 v 20 is useless I only see those in custom matches so far I've played like 500+ ranked matches and most(95%) of the time I only see at most 16 people with it getting to 8 ppl and then at times even 6 ppl first I'm like do ppl play this but then I realize ppl play games no matter how wack they are so I am like it can't be possible but then i looked at the Custom matches side and saw like thousands playing over there while i'm a bum in ranked thinking it matters when really it doesn't in Resistance that is I have fun in Custom with the one shot kills, the infinite weapons thats shit I like about Resistance but in the end my rank isn't in the leaderboards so it doesn't count towards anything and none of my friends would play I know that sounds gay oh my friends won't play but its fun when they did play we actually thought of pretty good strategies when we played those 6-16 multiplayer ranked matches but now they all gone to COD4 and fogotten all about Resistance some even sold theres to get COD4.

I got my PS3 in 08 plus I love the Auger and Bullseye but the human weapons are average and wack and I won't lie I love playing as the aliens but that doesn't say much cause I'm always the aliens in shooters when I can be(Halo,Gears,Resistance are a few examples) in Resistance you guys may think some of the weapons are fun and that Insomniac with the title of guys who made Rachet and Clank would make cool weapons for Resistance but thats 1/3rds true most are just variations of other weapons we've seen in other games.

I'll start with what isn't original
Bullseye
Carbine
Shotgun
Rocket Launcher
Sniper
Reapers
Splitter

Guns that I believe are original but I've seen things that work like these things but aren't the same and plus I can't prove fully that they are copies so i'm ok.
that living mine thing(Sapper)
Hailstorm

thats my two cents on Resistance if you care.

they really shouldn't say games will be bigger than Halo (aka Halo-killers) cuz that's just setting a game up for failure. lets not 4get a game called Haze or Killzone

other than those stupid comparisons i say this game will be alright (yup probably better than alright)
