Guess I'm lucky.

2.4 Works fine for me. SSHD gave me a problem for a few minutes, but now that's fine too.

You're not lucky, I think the whole thing is exaggerated. I haven't talked to a single person who's PS3 got "bricked" and seen very few first-person accounts on a bunch of forums. Meanwhile, myself and an assload of people are competing for trophies and messaging each other ingame- it seems like a very small percentage of people's PS3s took issue with the update.

And even then, the thing isn't actually bricked, the hard drive just needs to be formatted.

Even if it screws up one, i don't think it's over exaggerated, especially if Sony refuses to pick up the tab on repairing it. I can understand if it's out of warranty and the hardware malfunctions, but software coming directly from Sony to update the system and the hardware fails because of it is something totally worth bitching about.

And i don't think you can just format the HDD from the XMB, since it freezes up before you can get in, and not everyone has the equipment to take it out and format it elsewhere.

Dammit, I'm never going to hear the end of this one. One my friends (a nintendo fanboy) is going to throw this in my face at every chance he gets. :(

Guess I know who to rub it in to when 360's next update fails for some people because every dashboard update causes a situation similar to this.

How about you stop trying to be mr. e tough and 'rub it' in on someone who is pursuing the same ego as you and reinforcing the rediculous stereotype that is a 'fanboy'. Act your age, this is why no one takes the gaming community seriously.

Two things for today:

1. What's with not linking to Zero Punctuation on time anymore?

2. Chrono Trigger DS is the best news in a long time (sadly I was late to the two celebration threads).

I'm not going to go as far as to say that its fanboys logging on forums and saying there is an issue when there isn't but i also have heard from no one i know that they had problems with 2.4

now if the developers will start patching their games so i can jam out to the Grateful Dead while i play Call Of Duty 4..(Talk about a weird mix)

Killer app...I don't appreciate it. For a few reboots, I thought mine was bricked. It started working, but seriously, it was scary...
