Animal Crossing teased in UK's Official Nintendo Magazine
The first time we all saw big headed Mii's strolling around the plaza, we imagine we all had the same thought: Animal Crossing on the Wii is a lock. But here we are, a year-and-a-half after the system's release, and we still haven't gotten to use a Wiimote to rock with KK Slider. However, if we're reading a hint in UK's Official Nintendo Magazine right, the wait may nearly be over.
The magazine's latest issue features a still from the Animal Crossing-verse with the quote "It's been a while! It's time to revisit an old friend. How's your village doing these days?" Is that enough for us to bet on seeing a new Crossing game at E3? Yes. But it should also be known: We're addicted to gambling.

I usually don't mind cute graphics, but Animal Crossings just goes to far for me.
Bigfoot @ Jul 3rd 2008 12:45PM
Have you ever played it though? It's pretty fun.
CTC XBL-supapaypamawio PSN-ctclaw @ Jul 3rd 2008 12:47PM
Yes, I played both the Gamecube and DS versions, it's just the art overkills me.
Tiptup300 @ Jul 3rd 2008 2:59PM
I'd rather have Harvest Moon 64 ONLINE BITCHES!
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Jul 3rd 2008 12:38PM
Fuck yeah. It's about goddamn time too.
I remember being addicted to the original game.
Boscorooty @ Jul 3rd 2008 12:41PM
Addiction.
Thy name is Animal Crossing!
I Curse thee!
Fernando Rocker @ Jul 3rd 2008 12:43PM
I had to stop playing Animal Crossing DS... too much addictiveness...
I had no time for both Animal Crossing and Joystiq.
Donald @ Jul 3rd 2008 1:18PM
Really?
Then I think you should keep playing.
Just kidding.
Maybe.
Fernando Rocker @ Jul 3rd 2008 1:22PM
=(
giantenemycrab @ Jul 3rd 2008 2:19PM
wait, let me get this straight. You had to stop playing video games so you can have more time to comment about video games on a video game website? Really?
Microswirl (MKWii:1676- 4270-3674) @ Jul 3rd 2008 6:29PM
I'm in the same boat as Fernando, except instead of spending more time on Joystiq, I had to stop playing Animal Crossing DS for the purpose of doing ANYTHING ELSE!
Having said that, looking forward to this game; hope it's an MMO.
Obie @ Jul 3rd 2008 12:43PM
I like AC, so I wonder what they'd so with the Wii version. Better online integration perhaps? (yeah right!)
007craft @ Jul 3rd 2008 12:44PM
i remember being addicted to the gamecube one myself.
After like 6 months of solid palying I took a long look at what I was doing, which was collecting a bunch of useless items in a game, and just quit cold turkey. Never played since, wont be playing again, this includes new versions, or similar games like the sims and other game where you just grind and grind to collect stuff and dont really play or real have fun.
Fragmit @ Jul 3rd 2008 1:09PM
You were obviously having fun, you played it for six months, who gives a shit.
007craft @ Jul 3rd 2008 1:23PM
i played it for six months because it was an addiction. I was not having fun, and realised that afterwards.
I dont think smokers are having fun puffing their cigarettes. Just because you do something for a long time to occupy your time does not mean its fun.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Jul 3rd 2008 1:58PM
I'm sorry but that's bullshit. I can understand your point if you got the shakes if you didn't play Animal Crossing(if that's the case then I suggest seeking help) but if you weren't having fun and you realized that all it was is just pointless item collection, then you would have quit playing about a week in.
Benny @ Jul 3rd 2008 3:01PM
Addictions can be psychological, and they don't have to be fun... In fact, all the level-grinders on World of Warcraft just called and said hi.
FOXHOUND @ Jul 3rd 2008 12:44PM
My old friend is named booze, of which I indulge daily to make the world a more beautiful(and sometimes swirly)place. :]
I guess I can (re)welcome ANIMAL CROSSING into that world too.
samfish @ Jul 3rd 2008 12:44PM
I never understood the appeal of Animal Crossing. I find it rather boring.
But obviously I'm in the minority.
juju187 @ Jul 3rd 2008 12:49PM
i second that, rather waste my time in a real grind fest mmo like ragnorok.
343 Guilty Fart @ Jul 3rd 2008 1:06PM
I had the DS version for about a year, played it maybe 2 hours total. It was a fun way to waste time at the airport, but otherwise I found it boring as hell.
dude @ Jul 3rd 2008 1:50PM
Dude, you have a picture of naked princess peach for your avatar. Why?
Being at that level nerdness revokes your rights to speak, seriously.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Jul 3rd 2008 1:59PM
DS version wasn't as fun as the GC version.
Cesaria (cesariatic.wordpress.com) @ Jul 3rd 2008 5:47PM
You must be new here, dude. Samfish and his sexy Peach are a staple of the Stiq(that sounds so wrong).
dude @ Jul 6th 2008 12:24AM
Its not sexy, its an artist-drawn 2d image. Its not a real image ergo: the sexual equivalent of pica. Thats not good, and not sexy.
Bigfoot @ Jul 3rd 2008 12:49PM
My village is probably doing pretty bad. I haven't paid a visit in quite some time. Tom Nook is probably wondering when he's getting the rest of his payment, and all of the villagers have probably left. A meteor has probably also fallen from the sky, so everything is ablaze, resulting in a barren wasteland. Food and water have probably become a problem from the rivers drying up, so the fish have all died.
I should go take care of the weeds at least.
Obie @ Jul 3rd 2008 12:56PM
Yeah my village probably looks like the 9th ward now. :(
natels @ Jul 3rd 2008 1:04PM
Fallout3?
that guy @ Jul 3rd 2008 12:58PM
I'll be picking this up fo' sho'.
That being said, after the utter crapfest that is Brawl online (calm down folks - the game rules, but the online is horrific), I'm not getting my hopes up for Animal Crossing Wii online. Though Mario Kart Wii was pretty good, I still have to be cautiously pessimistic about AC Wii. Fingers are crossed though!
Findeh @ Jul 3rd 2008 1:07PM
Animal Crossing got boring after the 7th time you had to spend and hour doing the same task.
Also I miss the old NOM, it had a much tastier name.
My complaints for the day are done.
juju187 @ Jul 3rd 2008 1:21PM
AC:online = Pre-phrased text based chat, Friend code 8888-888-8-8888, and lobby with branch "Zones"
Superstar90 @ Jul 3rd 2008 1:32PM
I had a helpless addiction to the DS version. Like I hated playing it, but I had too. It was like a chore, that I was forced to do DAILY.
I did enjoy it the first month or so though...
dude @ Jul 3rd 2008 1:55PM
I like what Bob said on wiifanboy
(quote bob wiifanboy)
"Am I the only person that hopes animal crossing will have an offline mode? We will have all sorts of people running all over our towns, dropping garbage and asking "canz 1 h473 3ooooo b377$ PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!! LOL!!!"."
Mr Khan @ Jul 3rd 2008 2:16PM
It was never exactly my cup of tea, but with the Wii's advanced networking capabilities over the GC and DS, they could make Animal Crossing a more seemlessly integrated experience all around
giantenemycrab @ Jul 3rd 2008 2:20PM
I will go buy a Wii right then and there if they announce AC Wii.
Jay @ Jul 3rd 2008 2:35PM
'bout damn time
Didn't they announce it like...before the system came out?
Then we never heard anyhting about it again
samfish @ Jul 3rd 2008 3:38PM
No, but I believe that in the Wii's manual, there's a picture of the message board with a letter from Animal Crossing...so it seems like they'd been working on it for a good, long while.
Pedobear @ Jul 3rd 2008 3:19PM
I would very much like a new animal crossing game. Hopefully it has a much bigger world in it and better online but I doubt both.
Destin @ Jul 3rd 2008 4:53PM
I don't think that "teaser" is a teaser at all. It shows the promo art from Animal Crossing: Wild World, and suggests you check up on your town, because maybe it's been a while since you've played and things have changed.
It's just saying "go play your old game," not anything about a new one.
As for me, I got pretty heavily addicted to AC and ACWW. Played the former somewhere between every day and every few days for a year. Got just about everything one can get... then my GC memory card corrupted, and it all went away. I didn't have the heart to start over. ACWW, I played for the requisite year to get all the bugs/fish/trophies, but it doesn't have as much staying value as the original. I hope we see the return of holidays and more ongoing content in the inevitable AC Wii... which again, this image has nothing at all to do with.
Cesaria (cesariatic.wordpress.com) @ Jul 3rd 2008 5:50PM
Whether this is teasing the inevitable ACWii, we all know it's coming. I almost guarantee that it'll be shown at E3 at the very least. Nintendo doesn't have anything for the holidays, and my money is on this title.
Zak Canard @ Jul 3rd 2008 6:11PM
It's probably just a reminder to get rid of all those weeds due to neglect. The part of me though who's been playing AC:WW for at least an hour daily since Christmas '05 (my name is Zak Canard and I'm an unashamed Animal Crossing addict) still hopes for a Wii iteration.
Didn't the Gamecube version run entirely in memory once loaded off the disc? If that's the case, surely then ACWii would be a shoe-in as a Wiiware title.
dude @ Jul 6th 2008 4:04PM
No, you had to insert the disk in order to play as the Gamecube has nearly no firmware.
Moss @ Jul 12th 2008 8:15AM
I really hope that there's going to be an Animal Crossing Wii. If not, I can always play the GC game on the Wii and call it a Wii game. XD
I hope it's sort of like ACGC and ACWW combined; lots more interactions with a lot of events and holidays.
I am a proud Animal Crossing (Gamecube) addict. And I only started a couple of weeks ago. :P
