Well, since they've got Redneck Racing up there, how about Redneck Rampage now?

D: I love both freespace games. Now I've got to go find my copies and kill some vasudans and some shivans.

Five-year-rule.

Black Isle is closed and authors aren't getting any profit so you might as well torrent it instead of searching through bargain bins or waiting for GameTap.

Gametap IS getting Fallout sometime this summer, it was already announced earlier, and it will be free.

I just wish they would post it already!

Just thought that I should add that everyone should play Freespace. I mean, Freespace 2 is better, but still, these are arguably the last two amazing space combat games and everyone should be familiar with them.

With the exception of the original Wing Commander and Tie-Fighter, Descent Freespace reigns as the best space fighter sim ever.

The last mission in Freespace 2 is etched in my memory forever, I had never been so depressed in my life after succeeding a mission.

Sucks that there is no Freespace 3. The ending of 2 pretty much set up the sequel.

The sourcecode of Freespace 2 was released and you can download it for free. There have even been extensive modifications to the in game models and engine to add modern effects to the game. Ships have high res textures, more polys, and transparent cockpits with pilots.

Also Redneck Ramapge was a fun game. Built on the Duke Nukem 3D engine wasn't it?

i got the updated freespace 2... but i can't find a JOYSTICK anywhere in Tokyo! I tried playing it on a dual-analog gamepad, but it sucked.

There are litterally NO pc joysticks available in stores these days. (but a billion gamepads)

Yep the demise of the space sim genre and the rise of the FPS pretty much killed joysticks.

Even if you could buy an old one it probably doesn't have drivers that work. I have a logitech stick that has a serial to USB adapter that isn't recognized anymore by any computer I plug it into.

Freepsace is a great game, but why the hell would you want to play it on gametap? It available legaly and for free. You can snap it using community driven download tool from this http://www.fsoinstaller.com/ site. Just download the tool and run it. As simple as that. You can get load of addons and mods with it as ewll (including Babylon 5 one and BSG mod - latter being still under construction). If you have doubts about the link - I rarely trust links in public comments - head to largest community site http://www.hard-light.net/ (google it first if you want just to be sure :D) and get more info about download tool before using it. Its all out there. Hope someon finds this helpfull.

Oh and drunk spelling is not my top skill so dont even bother making fun out of me - im immune :D
