Guitar Hero World Tour is going to let players make their own songs, so it only stands to reason that Rock Band 2 will as well, right? Right? Not according to Alex Rigopulos, the CEO and co-founder of Rock Band developer Harmonix.
Speaking to CNN, Rigopulos states that his company "wanted to do [song creation] right." He adds that Harmonix is "taking a radically different approach" to player-created tracks – presumably he means from the way Guitar Hero World Tour dev Neversoft is handling it – and will "take more time to do it." So, Rock Band 3 with a song creator it is then, right? Right?

Someone explain to me why this game even exists.... Wasn't the whole concept of Rock Band that they would not be releasing any sequels for years and simply offerring a crap ton of downloadble content instead???
What kind of idiots do they think we are if they expect us to buy another $180 worth of stuff? They sure as hell better offer a software only version at launch at the very least...

If you have balls to diss the player-created-content then you're just a rabid Rock Band fanboy.
Stuff like that lengthens the game's lifespan. That's exactly why Spore and Halo 3 will still be played five-years from now on - something you can't say about CoD4 for example.

Whats with the GH Fanboys who are praising GHWT when they don't know how the whole create-a-song system works on a console.

I'm kind of disappointed that Rock Band 2 is coming out so soon. I thought the whole benefit of Rock Band was that after purchasing this near $200 platform, the only purchases left would be whatever DLC you wanted.
I always figured they would add extra DLC like new venues and clothing options eventually to prolong the life of the game.
This kinda reeks of EA's sequel-a-year habit. I'm waiting till E3 to get my hopes up about this one, and I'm a HUGE Rock Band fanboy.

If the drums turn out to be way better, I'll buy them seperate when they're available. As for now I'll be getting RB2 disc only when it comes out.
I have two working guitars, and a working mic, so nix on package.
Track creator?
No care. All everyone's going to do anyways is try to make the hardest songs they can.
