Nice Sony... Real nice... Go ahead and take jabs at our marketplace while you simultaneously and shamelessly steal our in-game dashboard support and achievements systems. Bunch of pricks. I'm glad your firmware is bricking PS3s all over the place.

I would love for the dashboard to have the "aero" look.

Hopefully Microsoft doesn't over react to the situation. They need to fix small things like the scrolling and descriptions. If they are able to make it easier to navigate by reorganizing genres or adding screenshots, it would be gravy.

I've never had any problem finding what I want in the XBLM or anything on my dashboard for that matter.

It would make sense to me that MS is going to unveil a new dashboard update at E3 since we haven't had up an update since Fall 07.

I own both a PS3 and an Xbox 360, and I find using the PS3 to be a huge pain because the XMB menu interface is so awful. The 360's is hardly perfect, but at least it's functional.

The XMB is very sleek and pretty, but it's unusable if you're not a pro at it. The face buttons do different things at different times and there is no legend at the bottom like there is on 360's dashboard, so most of the features are unknown to you unless you go into every menu and start jamming down random face buttons. Good luck remembering what those buttons do next time, you might have to take notes.

while the marketplace UI could use an overhaul, its still better then XMB. I cant stand those xmb menus. It makes everything much more unorganized. I cant belive the general public loves it so much. They even ruined the lattest sony tvs with that crap. I bought a samsung set instead just to keep away from XMB. When your in last place sony, your in no position to insult others.

Why shouldn't Sony be allowed to take a jab at the 360, we all know that the UI is getting too cumbersome and the de-listing of titles is stupid. The XMB is significantly faster and easier to use than the guide is. The worst things about the XMB are the huge update times and stupid installations. First it takes over twenty minutes to download the firmware update and then another ten to install it, then every demo you download has to install as well. Neither are perfect but at least the XMB is fast and easy to navigate. I hope the rumors are true and the 360's dashboard gets a makeover.

PS3 BLOWS

The difference between XBLM and PSN is that XBLM works, and PSN doesn't. You can use XBLM as soon as it loads which is nearly instantly, but on PSN you have to wait for those silly little thumbnails to load over the wireless connection- which as we all know, takes aeons.

I don't really think Sony are in a position to brag since the last time they tried to update their UI, it bricked consoles (that was yesterday, news fans!)

I have one thing to say to Sony. Hindsight is 20/20. It's easy to bash on a competitor's work when they were first to the market and you've had years to analyze it. It's much harder to pioneer something, and then work to improve it when it turns out to be EXTREMELY popular.

You know what would probably solve the scrolling issues on XBLM.. Is the function of using a mouse.. That's really all it needs.. and the fact that they need to take away the majority of ads.. but yeah.. mouse functions ftw. And give us a browser.

..All three consoles could have done better on their respective UI's, but I guess most commenters (and bloggers!) on this site are too dead set on being corporate lapdogs for their respective consoles to realize that.

Like I asked on joystiq...

"and scrolling up and down lists isn't the easiest way to find things."

Isn't this a description of the XMB?

I don't get the complaint. I find PSN harder to navigate than MS's store... but then I've not found anything on PSN I wanted to buy. I haven't bought anything on XBLM recently either.

All these people who say the PSN store is better, what planet are you on?

Is it easy to find a list of PS3 demos only, NOPE.

Is it easy to identify a title at a glance, only if you recognise the thumbnail. So to me that's a big NO again. Why would I recognise the art of a game I haven't played yet?

Is it quick to download, HELL NO. I was flabbergasted at how many menus it takes to just download something from PSN store and after all that, you STILL have to install it once its done. It takes a LOT longer than on Live.

Just downloading Lemmings was a trauma. I bought it, downloaded and was puzzled that it wasn't in the list. I then saw the filesize and thought "hand on, the trial is much bigger, maybe I need that first" so I download that and behold that did the trick. But it STILL displays Trial Version even thought its the full version. How is that clearer than how the 360 works? Its not.

Also, the PS3 menu system is great initially but once you have a few files on your PS3 its unmanageable. Why cant I put my videos in directories? They have some cheek slagging off Live when their UI and marketplace has even LESS categories so its harder to find stuff. With my 1080p TV in for repair its even worse, the icons are too small on a 32" at 720p.

So to all of you saying Microsoft could learn from Sony, what drugs are you on? At first I agreed but having USED the PS3 for a few weeks I have already found it cumbersome whereas the 360 is so much easier to use.
At least on 360 I can list ONLY Arcade games, or ONLY demos whereas on PS3 its just one looooooong list so finding anything takes careful browsing. If I ever have as much stuff on PS3 as I have on my 360 it will be painful.
For a start, by comparison the Playstation Store has very little on it.

Sony, you can laugh at de-listing once you have even close to as much content as Microsoft. You are only making yourselves look foolish right now. I don't see you with 100+ downloadable full-games, I was really disappointed when I signed up for PSN and found how little was on offer as I truely thought your store WAS better than Live, until I experienced it for myself.
