I have been lazy and need to get Ticket to Ride. If it's half as fun as Carcassonne, it'll still be a ton o' fun.

I've been playing this on XBLA the past few days. Having never played anything but the XBLA version, I can't comment on which is better, however the criticisms of the XBLA version are pretty fair. Seriously, what is up with the red/orange thing? I have to zoom in to tell the difference.

I didn't notice the red/orange thing until I had accumulated about 5 red cards to build a long route, only to get puzzled when the game wouldn't let me because the route was orange. I seriously cannot tell the difference!

They need to add in a colorblind mode like they HAD on Catan, which they stupidly took away in a previous update, aargh.

Didn't they get rid of the colorblind mode in Catan because they took out the green player and replaced it with a different color?

Someone needs to make XBLA monopoly already. Playing it live is basically asking for a fist fight to break out.

Honestly, Monopoly? Is there a more overrated piece of trash board game in existence? Has anybody actually played this game by its written rules? For a good real estate trading game go try Acquire.

Hasbro is making Monopoly for the Xbox, so your fist fight dreams will soon be answered.

I call bias. It is no fun to play a board game with that many pieces with no way of keeping them on the board. Someone slips, a pet gets curious, and game over. There is no way you will remember where everything goes.

I don't know about you, but I play board games at the kitchen table--the same one we eat meals at. But then we usually don't have a problem with food flying all over and dumping onto the floor either, so I guess YMMV.

Rail Baron was the first board game. I used to play that with family all weekend. Very detailed gameplay and yet even a 10 year old could play.

call me whatever you like, but I want them to stop releasing these board games on XBLA that nobody has ever heard of aside from nerdy D&D players.

Why is there no classic mainstream board games on xbla? Like Monopoly, Scrabble, or Scatagories(this one would be just awsome). You know, fun games that people have actually heard of and dont involve 100s of tiny pieces and tokens that clutter a board. These complex style board games dont really interest me at all.

It's specifically because of the many pieces and complicated scoring that games like Carcassonne and Ticket To Ride are perfectly suited to something like XBLA. It's great to not have to shuffle cards, fiddle with plastic bits, or do the complicated score tally.

And it's a damn shame that only 'nerdy D&D players' know about games like these. I've introduced the board game version of both to extended family at holidays and everybody had a great time.

Not that I'm really against other more simple board games on live, really.

Nerdy D&D players? Well, I will pass up the flame-bait.

First, you should be aware that it is most definitely easier to learn to play Ticket to Ride than Monopoly. The rules are very simple. I would say most people should take 5 minutes to learn how to play.

Second, the reason most board game aficionados prefer games like Ticket to Ride and Catan is that there is much less chance involved. When you compare Monopoly and other "classic" games you grew up playing to these board games, you begin to see that many of those games are often determined by the roll of the die.

While these games still rely on chance, there are many more decisions the players must make than in classic American board games. It's like the difference between a poker game and Uno. (although I love me some Uno)

There's nothing at all complicated about Ticket to Ride. It's one of the easiest to learn games I've ever played. Granted, you're right about getting some of the more popular board games onto XBLA, but I don't see why it has to be at the expense of these great euro boardgames.

Don't forget that Days of Wonder also has "Ticket to Ride: The Computer Game". The game comes with the US, Europe, and Switzerland maps by default.

It runs great on PC and Mac, and comes with great AI, as well as the ability to play against others online.

For Mac Users with OSX 10.4+ a Universal Binary comes with a 1.0.x patch. The latest is 1.07

Also they have released a free patch to add the 1910 Expansion.

Does anyone know if you can play a game locally on the xbox live version (Like a hot seat match). Like in settlers you couldn't play with someone in your own house which I thought was rather retarded. I think my roommates and I would enjoy this game if we're allowed to play it together in the same room.

Yes, you can play locally. It basically instructs individuals to look away on each person's turn so they can't see others hands. If your roommates are untrustworthy, I'd recommend getting the board game :-)

It should also be noted that unlike games like Bomberman, you can't take multiple local players online. I post this everywhere, but it's a shame that games with local multiplayer like Carcassonne and Worms don't allow this.

Although I haven't plunked down the points for this game yet, I am pretty sure that it does have a local multiplayer mode. You just have to play by the honor system and decided whether or not you'll look at your opponents cards to see what they are planning. I like that they at least give you the option unlike Catan.

If you're colorblind, don't bother picking this one up.

In the board game, there are symbols in addition to colors on both the board segments and cards. Annoyingly, in the XBLA version, there are no symbols, making 1/3 of the colors indistinguishable from other colors.

I've wanted to buy the Board game since I first played it a t a friends house around Christmas but couldn't find a copy under $50. I'm more then satisfied for the $10 I paid for it and can't wait for the expansions. Major pluses I don't have to set it up and I get to play when no one else in my house is available.

Personally I'd like to see more of these non traditional board games to come out. I'm so sick of playing Monopoly, Scrabble ect. I'd rather play something new like Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne, and Catan. I hope the XBLA planners approve more of these German styled Board games on XBLA it's something not being done on the other systems.
