Warcraft 3 patched to 1.22a
Earlier this week, Blizzard released a patch for Warcraft 3, known to some of you as "the game before World of Warcraft" and the rest as "the client for playing Defense of the Ancients." Patch 1.22a provides balance changes for the units, fixes some technical issues and includes four new maps. You can update the game by either logging onto Battle.net or by downloading the patches manually (available from BigDownload).
PC (1.22a requires patch 1.21b for installation)
Mac (1.21b not required)
Last month, Blizzard also patched Diablo 2. We've placed full patch notes after the break.

Never was a warcraft fan, but I love when companies keep up support for old games like this.

I wish WCIII was on steam, then I would reinstall it for sure. As it is, I can't be bothered to dig around for the disc that I haven't touched in a few years.

You can redownload it at the Blizzard store as long as you have the CD key.

The problem is that the new patch cause some bugs to appear in DotA, but I have to say it has good features too

ive been playing alot of starcraft lately and went back to warcraft just to try it again. I dont know what the hell I saw in that game. The gameplay with heroes and creeping and autocasting spells and using items for heros is so crappy. Also, things get way to chaotic when players meet. You cant focu at all because the units just look all masshed together and since everything is auto cast, its like your army does not even matter, and the heros are the only units. I mean it makes for an interesting 1 player game, but it just blows in the multiplayer. I cant believe I used to play it so much.
Im so glad starcraft 2 is remaining traditional and wont have any sort of heros for multiplayer, or creep or items.
Its like they turned Warcraft 3 into a Rpg/rts hybrid which was the stepping stone to world of warcraft, the full rpg game.
Ill stick with starcraft and warcraft 2 anyday. Cant wait for SC2.

All 3 games (war2, star, war3) are just so awesome I don't see how you can pick on war3. Each game has its own style of depth and complexity. We all have our own taste and I cant argue if you just don't like the concept of heroes, but war3 takes a ton of skill and knowledge at the highest levels of play.
Statements like "its like your army does not even matter, and the heros are the only units" are just silly =\ Like saying "oh starcraft is just mass expands then mass units" obviously both are not true.
NeoGohan @ Jul 3rd 2008 12:38PM
I totally agree with you. I hated the whole "control your hero" thing. It was cool in single player campaign but was just too much for me as I was used to Starcraft style of play.
I still love the game though for DotA. Hero concept works great for this game.

This is what pisses me off about current WoW players, none of them are actually WarCraft fans, they're just fans of a grind. They claim badassery in WarCraft, but they have never experienced WarCraft: Orcs and Humans with a dial-up direct connect. Bastards.
Divector @ Jul 3rd 2008 1:13PM
I've been a Warcraft fan since the release of the first game. I also have been playing WoW since beta. I remember playing Warcraft: Orcs and Humans and Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness on a (at the time) blazing fast SuperMac C600.
So don't generalize. It just makes you look like an ass.
Yakko @ Jul 3rd 2008 1:30PM
D-Day Judgement is much better map then DOTA any day.
NoHitHair @ Jul 3rd 2008 2:48PM
So this patch fixed upkeep right? It gave the players the option of removing upkeep instead of forcing it on them?
It didn't?
Then WCIII is still a worthless and broken piece of junk software.
ratman @ Jul 3rd 2008 4:12PM
Wow, complaining about upkeep? That is soooo 2002.
War3 did fine. Its 2008 and theres still tons of players including a thriving pro scene and ongoing evolution in strategies. The whiners that never gave it a chance have gone away and missed out on a deep competitive multiplayer.
