Hudson explodes onto the iPhone with Bomberman Touch video
While we still don't think the iPhone App Store makes the do-everything cell phone a threat to the DS, we are impressed with the growing list of big-name franchises being ported to the system. We can now amend that list to include the Bomberman series, with Hudson's with the recent announcement of Bomberman Touch: Legend of the Mystic Bomb.
A video trailer (embedded below the jump) shows what looks like a transparent, touch-screen d-pad placed over the on-screen action to control Bomberman, sort of like the interface for the earlier iPhone PlayStation emulator . According to Hudson, the game will include "classic Bomberman powerups and original special items" and take advantage of "the unique iPhone / iPod touch interface of flicking, tapping, and tilting with a built-in accelerometer." No word on a multiplayer mode, but with the iPhone's Wi-Fi capabilities, a local wireless option would hopefully be a no-brainer.
Bomberman touch joins water-based puzzle game Aqua Forest and the always lucrative Sudoku in Hudson's announced line-up for the iPhone.

Didn't I have that game on Game Boy Color, except with better controls?

I don't carry a Gameboy Color around anymore though. I only carry a phone. So even if it's a repeat, if it's a good repeat, I'm all for it.

seems kinda awkward

when was the last good Bomberman??? Was it this century??

Bomberman Live on XBLA was terrific, but no one was ever online cause no one had it. If it had a decent number of people playing it, it would have been much better. I think I've only played it online with more than one other person twice. Those times were fun. Every other time I'd get a "no matches found" message.

I used to play Bomberman Live with 8 people (including myself) all the time. Everyone had it! There wasn't ever a match I remember playing that was below 4 people (again including myself). I wonder why you couldn't find anyone.

To each his own I guess eh?
I popped for Bomberman Live and it is frustrating steaming turd. Both the Kick and Remote Det bombs were some reason given a pause before they work throwing the timing completely out of wack.
I am a serious freak for bomberman multi since the SNES and without a doubt, the XBL version is the worst implementation hands down (The 1st xbox360 version doesn't even count).
I agree w/ Pojo.

So... to move your character to have to block part of the screen with your finger? "There's a bomb under there!"

This doesn't look like a good fit to me at all, and as the levels get faster the controllers seem like they'd become tedious.

Bomberman Touch 2 for the DS rules! (the multiplayer that is)
::Anxiously awaiting bomberman wiiware::

I have to admit that looks horrible.
Some special games would work for the iphone.
(Racing games, phsyics games,.....etc? etc?)
Not this sorta game...

I like the level of games that are being announced for the iPhone/Touch. Real games, I mean. Like franchises we've heard of.
This looks good, the resolution looks insane. However, no phone has a good game-controller interface without looking like a retarded Gameboy, so a big 'wait and see' is hovering over my head.

yep, looks unplayable
