See a hot anime clip from Street Fighter IV

We have a very clear memory of watching the video we've linked to during Captivate 08 and wishing only that we could bring it to you, the masses. Why? Well, for starters, it's lifted from Street Fighter IV, which we hear you, the masses, are pretty excited about. Second? It's absolutely gorgeous. Today we're able to share the clip with you, so you may now "feel the drama," as they say, between Ryu and Akuma.
What's better is that we heard that the home version of the game would be chock-full of anime clips like these, one for each character, which may be enough to pique the interest of even the non-fighting faithful.

It's not as hot as the Chun Li shower scene.
Jak Logan @ Jul 4th 2008 10:47AM
yeah, because cartoon boobies are totally ftw. You must be new to Street Fighter and/or puberty...
Nigeria @ Jul 4th 2008 11:00AM
Who doesn't like cartoon boobs, or am I and Jak Logan in the minority?
Sora267 @ Jul 4th 2008 11:10AM
Or maybe he just has a hentai fetish?
arrrgh @ Jul 4th 2008 1:32PM
whats wrong with cartoon boobs?
sure they dont serve the same purpose as real boobs. But cartoon boobs in a video is better than no boobs in a video. If you argue that one, i question your heterosexuality
Mr.ESC @ Jul 4th 2008 1:33PM
Amen arrrgh.
zeldazeppelin @ Jul 4th 2008 1:54PM
man this is no where near close the the animated movies man those had all types of sexual stuff in them so this isnt as hot no
Exo @ Jul 4th 2008 5:08PM
cartoon boobs and polygon boobs are stupid end of story. If you say "then youmust be gay lolz" then i have to question if you have the capacity to get a woman to find a drawing to be an acceptable substitute.
that or you are japanese
jimmygotsmack @ Jul 5th 2008 4:59AM
Apparently the people of age of connan disagree, anyway, BOOBIES!!!!
I love how people become defensive about boobs, real of fake. I mean look at Exo, the hate that this instills. He must prove hes point is superior, and claims those who do not follow his ways to be lessor to him, or I'm reading too much into it.
EMaster @ Jul 4th 2008 9:59AM
Gouken lives?????!!!!!
Jtenma @ Jul 4th 2008 10:51AM
Yeah thats what I thought too!!??!!
But anyway, upon watching that ckip for the first time, there is one thing that I noticed (other than it looking totally badass)...and I have one question:
Can any other Street Fighter even compare to these guys...?
EMaster @ Jul 4th 2008 11:00AM
Probably Bison only. I'm talking a L3 Bison here (in Capcom Vs SNK terms).
juju187 @ Jul 4th 2008 12:29PM
my first thought as well,
also i think this is the fist time they actually show Gouken (sheng long) gettin his as kick in the fight with Akuma.
Sheppy (of the Fidlious Clan of Wong) @ Jul 4th 2008 12:45PM
I always liked SNK character designs better but yeah, I saw Goken and thought "Holy crap! Gouken vs. Gouka Round 3..."
Almadi @ Jul 4th 2008 10:24AM
Did Miyazaki direct this? 'cause it looks a whole lot like a Ghibli film
Jerk @ Jul 4th 2008 12:29PM
o.O this looks nothing like a Studio Ghibli/Miyasaki film. You need to expand your anime watching if you see similarities in this.
natetk @ Jul 4th 2008 10:26AM
I want my SF4 now, and I hope they make it cross-platform.
Sora267 @ Jul 4th 2008 11:13AM
It will be: http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/05/28/street-fighter-iv-finds-a-home-announces-it/
natetk @ Jul 4th 2008 7:01PM
I should have said that more clearer. I meant cross-platform as in pc playing against 360 or ps3 players. I didn't see anything in that article to suggest that, but I am glad it's coming out on pc because that is the platform I play on.
Kerber @ Jul 4th 2008 10:46AM
Uh...I didn't think the animation was THAT hot. Too Naruto-esque for me. I prefer the art styles from the movies.
Still neat though.
DP @ Jul 4th 2008 3:17PM
Agreed. Akuma was too small.
Zero_ @ Jul 4th 2008 10:55AM
Oh wow, that was really cool. This seems like it's -really- sticking to the source material, with them performing the moves from the game. Oh man, and the orchestrated version of Ryu's Theme... awesome.
Shahryar @ Jul 4th 2008 6:20PM
yeah, I was def feelin the ryu music. I hope SFIV has good music. I wasn't a plan of SFIII's music (
Except Ryu's stage's music).
SFII's music is classic.
Phylicus @ Jul 4th 2008 11:20AM
Now I'm all jazzed up for a fight.
mocax @ Jul 4th 2008 11:57AM
I prefer the weird blurry scratchy animation of the arcade trailers.
This anime is too traditional
mmxzero @ Jul 4th 2008 11:28PM
Same here as much I like anime, nothing could match the style and level of awesome of the original SFIV trailer, which is what the arcade version is getting I guess. I love the trailer so much I wish the actual game wasn't so traditional in the sense that the developers are trying to make it like SFII. Oh well maybe next time they will try to reinvent it more.
Chris Mahoney @ Jul 4th 2008 11:59AM
I hope the come out with an English version so I know what's going on.
Batzarro @ Jul 4th 2008 11:46PM
Here's my guess:
Akuma: I want a challenge! Why aren't you fighting back? Do it for your old master that I killed!
Ryu: My...Master?(flashback)
(Awesome fight with orchestral version of Ryu's SF2 Theme)
Ken: Hey! Leave some for da game!
EMaster @ Jul 4th 2008 12:05PM
I am so looking forward kicking the young'uns asses in the arcade in this! I got 18 years of Street fighter under my belt. Am I getting too old for this?
ZeroCorpse @ Jul 4th 2008 12:24PM
Well, I placed second in two regional tournaments (playing as Dhalsim) in the 80s. However, last time I played a Street Fighter game in the arcade, it was dominated by people who relied more on the super moves than the toe-to-toe fighting.
The style has changed a lot. It's not as fun playing against some kid whose whole combat style is fireball, fireball, fireball, fireball, fireball, fireball, dragon punch, fireball, fireball, fireball, fireball, dragon punch.
It's REALLY not fun playing some idiot who takes M. Bison and then just spends the entire fight flying back and forth until he gets a super move. You can still beat them, but there's no fun and no sport in someone like that.
I used to be great at this game. I paid $130 to import it from Japan for the SNES (Super Famicom version) just so I could play it at home several months earlier than my fellow Americans. I figured I dumped way more than that into it in Aladdin's Castle, so that was a good deal. Bonus: The Japanese version had blood in it, instead of sweat.
However, these days fighting games are more like Tekken; They're story-focused, and victory depends more on the super moves than the straight toe-to-toe fighting skill. It's a different playing field.
I wouldn't be surprised if some of the young'uns kick both yours and my asses at Street Fighter IV. Maybe not from SKILL, but from spastic button-mashing abilities that we older, more refined players will lack.
juju187 @ Jul 4th 2008 12:41PM
i been there with ya buddy, but in 18 years you never seen a spammer? Ryu on hardest difficulty was just the way you described it.
Noshino @ Jul 4th 2008 1:07PM
"However, these days fighting games are more like Tekken; They're story-focused, and victory depends more on the super moves than the straight toe-to-toe fighting skill. It's a different playing field."
I don't know whether you have played Tekken or not, but it doesn't really rely on supermoves...most of it is "toe-to-toe" fighting...
http://youtube.com/watch?v=aMW5PAjSsrE&feature=related
And yah, its annoying to see kids these days just depends on super moves...either way, they get their ass kicked fast
ra @ Jul 4th 2008 1:09PM
I'm sorry, but you must a noob if you lose to spammers or button mashers
ZeroCorpse @ Jul 4th 2008 12:14PM
There's no such thing as a hot anime clip.
Jerk @ Jul 4th 2008 12:29PM
I take it you're not an anime fan. Or maybe you're thinking about hot in a sexual way, in that case yes I agree, if it's the former then I respect your opinion but have to disagree strongly.
Norty @ Jul 4th 2008 12:19PM
You're never too old for Street Fighter.
And while the animation is fine, the story that video told and the characters it confirmed/introduced.....holy crap. I want. I want now.
Sheppy (of the Fidlious Clan of Wong) @ Jul 4th 2008 12:47PM
GAWWWWD, this sucks. I went from having little interest in this title to getting psyched up again...
Now all we need is more info on KOFXII
Mr.ESC @ Jul 4th 2008 12:48PM
Things we learned about this trailer:
Akuma has no cookie.
Ryu learned the Kamekameha at some point.
Akuma hates fireflies.
Akuma killed Ryu's mentor Pai mei.
Ken joins the Brawl! (Surprise)
Shen Long might be in this game (STFU EGM) and he might be badass and a Saiyan too.
Jhongerkong @ Jul 4th 2008 8:42PM
+1 for the Kill Bill refrence
mundox @ Jul 4th 2008 1:30PM
That looks like it was done by studio pierrot (the guys who do naruto).
IMO, something along the lines of SFII-the movie or the Alpha movie would have been way better.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ui3oMYelxcc
Sheppy (of the Fidlious Clan of Wong) @ Jul 4th 2008 2:03PM
Gah!! The alpha movie sucked! Unless, of course, you like staring at groins or butts. Seriously, watch it again and count the number of times male and female neither regions take center or focal stage.
CHAOS! @ Jul 4th 2008 2:40PM
Street Fighter has a story?!
Charlie_Six @ Jul 4th 2008 5:53PM
Woah, hearing that orchestral treatment of the Street Fighter theme was awesome.
Deadpool @ Jul 4th 2008 7:14PM
I hope the get Skip Stellrecht back to voice Ryu and Eddie Frierson to voice Ken. I hope Skip isn't too busy doing the voice of Might Guy from "Naruto". It would be cool to have them voice these characters again.
Or they can get Steve Blum for Ken, he did a pretty good job in Street Fighter Alpha.
Charlie_Six @ Jul 4th 2008 7:17PM
Steve Blum needs to take a vacation. That guy's voice is everywhere.
Deadpool @ Jul 4th 2008 8:42PM
His Cowboy Bebop role really gave him some star power. Johnny Young Bosch is catching up with him though.
MasterCKO @ Jul 7th 2008 2:15PM
sweet merciful crap that was pure, unadulterated AWESOME! Ken's surprise appearance was great.
More of these on the consumer release is going to be soo cool!! 8^D
