New Mortal Kombat vs. DC screenshots are fairly brutal

Let's face it -- one of the main things that has set Mortal Kombat apart from its contemporaries throughout the years has been its inclusion of flagrant acts of grisly violence. When Ed Boon explained that the upcoming Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe would explore the softer side of the series with Teen-rated acts of pugilistic carnage, many fans were upset, as it seemed their thirst for evisceration would go unslaked. The latest salvo of screenshots for the brawler from Midway might confirm or ease your fears of a censored MK title -- no, there's no evidence of any impromptu spine-removal procedures, but there's pummeling and arm-breaking aplenty. Does the latest entry in the toasty franchise look gruesome enough for your sinister bloodlust?

The Catwoman model looks like the one from Hush. That's pretty cool.

Still never going to purchase this game. Superman would beat the hell out of everyone- except Batman. Batman would kick his ass... but why then wouldn't Batman kick everyone else's ass?! I need an adult!

Depends on what Era Superman. The original superman couldn't fly, didn't have ice-breath, X-Ray vision, and all that bull. He could jump really high, was really strong, he could run really fast, and couldn't be damaged by anything short of an artillery shell.

I think Cyrax had a fatality that blew up the planet. ... I think that is way past an artillery shell.

Conversely, modern superman is near indestructible, but now Kryptonite is as common as soda, and in as many varieties. I'm pretty sure there is a Paisley Kryptonite that will remove his cheapness.

With out even watching the GTtv thing I am betting they are going to say Magic is why anybody in MK can even possibly attack superman. I am sorry but I think capcom did it better when they added infinite gems and such.

The problem with any DC fan is DC comic heroes their powers are basically god like. Even Batman to an extent is some sort of Demi god when it comes to his ability. No matter how I try to ignore the fact that is superman, I just can't get past somebody like the flash not being able to just speed of heat through somebody.

Yes I am a geek, but I doubt this game was being aimed at people who are new to Mk or DC, so just saying "Stop being a geek and play the game" isn't going to be enough for a lot of the people thinking about picking it up.

Superman is awesome. Batman is awesome. You don't wanna play / buy the game or better yet... UNDERSTAND why this is being made, go fumble around in another post that doesn't discuss this... ... douches.

The BIGGEST problem with past Mortal Kombats is the SHALLOW GAMEPLAY with focus on REMEMBERING TO PULL OF THE VARIOUS FINISHERS.

Hopefully this will be different because I WANT TO KICK EVERYONES ASS AS SUPERMAN... straight up.

Whine else where's douches and let us alone so WE can fight Scorpion vs. Superman... your doucheness isn't required HERE.

Chris, are you aware you are trying to apply logic in the internet let alone to Superman? He gets his powers from the Earth's Sun WTF?

MK after Trilogy went downhill, and then Deception picked up the series to the semi-awesome level of the first MK games so Armageddon could deliver the final kick in the balls to every MK fan. At this point MK games are rental material but I’m still curious about how can Sub-zero deliver a punch to Superman without breaking his knuckles.

This game honestly couldn't look any worse. The screenshots look horrible, the characters are going to have to be way powered down which stinks, and when was the last time a decent Mortal Kombat game came out?! DC should pull the plug on this one and get back to the MMORPG.

I like how they released a screenshot with Supes' cape coming through his chest. Nice pop-in/tearing/whatever it's called. If that's in their promotional materials, this game might wind up looking terrible.

Looks like it's going through his chest to me. If you follow it up, it stops just below his sternum on his right side.

I'm not as offended about the idea of this game as I used to be. Some of the mechanics they've been talking about sound pretty unique, I especially like the idea of it turning into something like Fight Night, when you get in close to your opponent, and some of the character designs are really cool. I'm hoping they stick with the classic, more recognisable MK characters, instead of all the garbage ones they introduced in the newer games.

Sang Tsung looks great, we just need Raiden, Kung Lao and Johnny Cage and the game should have a pretty great roster.

Haven't watched the GT preview yet though. Is the gameplay less clunky now? I hope to god they aren't still using dial-a-combo.

Looks very similar to the previous 3D games. Might be bad for a lot of people, but I had a lot of fun with Deception, and if it plays anything like that, I'll be satisfied.

I'm not expecting Soul Calibur or Tekken from Midway. No one should.

Heheh, you fellas are terrible! Give the game some time to prove itself.. it's not looking THAT bad.. just remember a game called Marvel Nemesis next time MK vs DC comes up and you'll appreciate it alot more.
