The DS is actually a wonderful system to play on, even if you don't make it portable. I spend a lot of time playing my DS at home, despite the fact that I can play any other system out there.

And the second screen can, in fact, be gimmicky, depending on the game....but in some cases, it's BRILLIANT, and I love that it's there. For example, it completely helps when playing any Castlevania game.

Give it a shot, and I'm sure you'll get some enjoyment out of one.

I never played Crono Trigger before, but I always see it in Best-Game-Ever lists along with Final Fantasy VII (another legendary game I've never played).

I'm excited to finally get the chance!

That's kinda the joke: despite looking like a female all around (even with boobs), it's a guy. I think they were trying to mock Japan's tendency to over-feminize their male characters.

I still like the PS1 version for its animated cutscenes though, the DS most likely won't have them.

You means the DS will most likely have them :D. There is plenty of DS game with cut scene, we can just think of Final Fantasy 3 Remake and Final Fantasy 4 remake which have 3-d graphic and CGI cut scene, in fact,FF4 cut scene are from the PSOne port. Not only will u most likely get the cut scene but you will also not have annoying load time of the PSone version. The only bummer is the high price Square Enix will charge for this one for an upgrade port...Too bad they won't released this on the VC any time soon. But since I love CT, i will get the game on DS no matter what.

I have little doubt they wouldn't be there. The original Chrono Trigger was a mere 4MB. DS games can go up to 256MB. The anime cutscenes, after being resized and reencoded for the DS, would be much smaller than on the PS1 disc.

Plus, not being on a disc has the bonus of NOT HAVING LOADING TIMES FOR EVERY BATTLE. That killed the PS1 version for me (and yet, I still played through it...).

Is "winter" a japanese word? Why was the rest of the trailer in Kanji while the release date was in English? "Ha, this is the ultimate teaser! The Japanese will never figure out the release date unless they are able to decipher the carefully hidden clues in the video!"

Also, I love the name "Robo" for a robotic character. Do they have any "Hum"s in the game too? What about "Bad G"?

Robo's not his real name, just a nickname the main characters give him upon meeting him for the first time. His true name is revealed later on in the game.

I think that the Japanese sorta integrate English into details of their tech stuff.

Like this picture which Google says is Akihibara (a major shopping center):

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_2Tk-ZKrDPAw/R--xWj84_JI/AAAAAAAABLk/Z4X8-qjYBvE/DSC03483.JPG

There's some names and numbers in English, but the rest is is Japanese (don't know which script it is, lost on me)

Yanno, this all makes me sad at the fact that Squeenix killed Chrono Resurrection. Instead of filing a cease and desist and throwing out their hard work and ideas, they could've at least run with what they were going for.

http://www.opcoder.com/projects/chrono/

Seriously, a fan-made project that just as epic as something Squeenix could have made (If not more so)?

I'm talking about running the old snes version on a hacked psp. Quicksaves and smoothed sprites FTW.

PSPs are totally worth it when hacked. Go to gamestop and buy a used one... then hack it. If you accidentally brick it, you can return it for another one and try again!

Hey man, In my case I'd have never learned to pirate on the PSP if Sony had worked with me on downloading fl0w. They have that crap so locked down that I could never get it to work. And their tech support is a f-ing joke. Then when I gave up, they wouldn't refund my money.

So I stole it. I'm not saying that's my 'excuse', but that opened a whole world of awesome. There ain't no goin' back now. UMD is a sorry joke compared to running stuff off the stick. I realized that for movies right off, but had no idea about the games.

Sony biffed it hard on the PSP. In a way, it's their own fault.

Sadly pirates like Scooterbaga and the fact that this looks like a direct port from the SNES will probably make this, likely to be overpriced, Chrono rehash an unsuccessful venture for Squeenix.

All they have to do is make SIGNIFICANT updates. I'll gladly purchase it then.

BTW- That's the first time I've ever been called out as a pirate. I have to admit I felt a swell of pride.

Still I guess I'm going to buy it,I just have a few Ds games.

(I read the story and its okay but um NWN story is much better)

I want them to update the graphics (even a little bit). Something at the level of Final Fantasy Tactics A2, or Children of Mana. It seems kinda a ripoff to re-buy a SNES game for 40$, in my opinion at least.

WANT.
A.
SEQUEL.

Is this so difficult to understand? It's like they're making these rehashes just for spite. Still, I'll pick it up if there's any significant new content.

This is the one game I've never wanted a sequel for b/c I felt it would fail miserably compared to this...I missed out on the PS1 sequel, so yeah I don't count it.

I kinda feel that a sequel would probably be disappointing, (like Chrono Cross) and I'd much rather have a straight port that have the game updated into charmless 3d like some of their other recent ports.

Why did they do the picture in picture for the trailer?.. they could have done a much better teaser trailer IMHO.

I love Chrono Trigger it is still my favorite RPG. I'm glad they are putting it on the DS so new gamers can play it. It is defiantely worth playing through.

I really want to see a 3d Chrono Trigger or a sequel would be nice. Chrono Trigger Resurrection looked so awesome. Ah well I'll keep dreaming.... and probably pick it up.

I really hope they have more ending too!! Going to be great if they do that becasue hay its well worth it and only 1 dugeon come on Enix cant you just put new stuff in there like new ending.. your a world billionair and you cant change a little script maybe help out by addinga ending for every character so if you play with each character different you get a differending i mean there so many loup holes in chrono trigger there got to be a good ending there and a couple of them!!

This game is one of my favorite games of all time.

I was like 12 when I played through the game for the first time and I remember thinking at the time that if Marle was real, I'd definitely want to bang her. Hard. (especially after she would perform the otherwise useless "provoke")
