Is 2.4 out already? I thought they held it back until further notice.

It was out temporally, but was then quickly pulled when people started having trouble. Some were able to download it before they pulled it.

You may want to edit the poll and add an option like: "Sorry, I wouldn't know, as Sony still hasn't provided the updated-update for download in North America."

I had a problem with the update. I installed it and after the install had completed I noticed the "Cross Color Reduction Filter" wasn't working properly. I turned the CCRF off then on manually and it seemed okay. I proceeded to play Super Stardust HD and the CCRF turned off again. It does this everytime I enter a game, watch a movie, or restart the system.

I contacted consumer services last week but they just gave me the standard troubleshooting response (reset settings, check network devices?, etc.). I hope it gets patched soon.

I've had no troubles at all, PS3 60GB US/CAN.
The firmware that gave me the most trouble was the one that added the Information Bar, but once disabled it was fine too.

Downloaded it with 60gb PS3 about a year old and no problems as far as I can tell. The only thing that I have noticed is that CoD4 doesn't run as smoothly as it used to pre-update, but IMO it's just coincidental.

ive noticed alot of posts claiming the sshd patch was pulled after the 2.4 was pulled, but i upgraded my firmware and bought/downloaded sshd two days later... so i find that hard to believe.. something else must be coming into play here

Mo: it's certainly true that it's been pulled. I managed to update the firmware to v2.40 on the release day. I then started to download the v4.00 update for SSHD, but cancelled it because it was horrifically slow. The next day, it was pulled along with the firmware, and it has not asked me to update since. I tried downloading the game from the PS Store, but it was still v3.00. So you gotta believe it, it's no joke. At least for Europe.

This is probably a dumb question but what it the picture of the solar system used in the trophy pictures, like the one above? I ve had a PS3 for 3 days so Im a little naive. Is it a game? If so what?

I don't think it's sshd, at least not my version. Icons, trophies, and planet names are not even close to those in sshd. I would like to know what this game is...sounds interesting.

It's not an actual game, it's just filler for when they were demonstrating the 2.40 features.

definitely freaked out a bit after reading that the update was bricking some systems. i already downloaded the update on launch and the system has been performing as usual. i just hope there isn't some sort of timed bricking going to happen. haha

Well according to the #'s it seems that the update wasn't doing any damage, except for the1%... and those are probably Xbots raining on our parade....again. Oh well let it rain, after all its the Xbots who are on a sinking console lol. Anyways i have NO problems with 2.40 and i have a early Ausf.PS3 60gig .

I haven't had this happen to me because GTA4 had froze on my PS3 and then damaged the Blu-Ray drive as with many others, I had to sadly sell it.

And it looks like I won't be buying one for a while with hearing of similar issues with MGS4 (another game I wanted to play) and now this 2.40 fiasco?

Right when I stop hearing of 360 RROD issues, I hear many many many more PS3 problems.

And now hardware BC is gone forever as well. : (

What was weird was that it went straight to install when the download was only about 60% through, and the same thing happened during the install. It all worked out well enough in the end, but had me a little worried while I was doing the update.

My only problem is that the SSHD trophies arent there.
I DL SSHD after the update was pulled and I know there was a patch for the trophies...could it be that they pulled the patch as well?
Anyone know?

I wonder if pulling the SSHD patch is also part of the reason for the very small PSN store update on Thursday... PixelJunk Eden should be available at any point now, but it also has Trophy support. - Maybe the trophy enabled games won't work without 2.40.

Who knows, maybe it was scheduled for release last Thursday, but got delayed at the last minute until the firmware issue gets addressed properly.

The problem I have after installing the update is my HDMI audio crackles badly ingame, during movies and when listening to music. Also youtube doesn't run as smooth and the audio is herky jerky and video goes out of synch at times. Everything was fine before the update. Anyone have similar problems like this? I hope we can download a revised version to fix the problems this update has.

I have no problems....except the fact that the in-game XMB can sometimes be un-responsive and a little slow.

But I did have a question, in the video, he showed it playing music during the game. Can it be any game?

because on my PS3, I always get this error: "This game does not allow playing of this content."

at least it was something like that, in the video, he made it look like it could be done on any game.

Downloaded morning of release and had no problems I can definately blame the firmware for...although the online connectivity seems to play up a lot.

If I downloaded SSHD yesterday, would it still need patching or would it be the Trophy version already?

I just had a nasty experience tonite with 2.40. I was trying (and failing) to
get my first trophy in SSHD (yes, I know, I'm pathetic) and after realising
that tonite was not going to give me my first trophy, I started Battlefield:
Bad Company directly from in-game-XMB. Everything went well until I resumed my
Singleplayer campaign, were the PS3 just hung on the loading screen. I stopped
the system with the PS button and instead of stopping it did the 3 beep thing
when something hangs and proceeded to reboot. Then came the nasty message:
Cannot find correct harddisk or some like that. Real men don't take backups
and I haven't in ages, so this was terrible. Luckily the PS3 came up after a
button reboot. The fan was going bonkers after SSHD so maybe the PS3 just
overheated? I have an original EU 60Gb PS3
