"Groundbreaking"

Just the word alone makes me skeptical...

Groundbreaking and Unreal Engine are two words you don't often see together ...

It's probably misquoted.

They meant to say "the new DIG DUG game will be groundbreaking using the Unreal Engine 3(in collaboration with Namco)."

I though the same as soon as I read that title.

Argh.. that fucking Unreal Engine again.. Here's hoping they don't attempt to put whatever it is on PS3 and save us all the embarassment.

It's all ground breaking and hype until you get to play it.. then you realize it's the same old shit.

Take a cue from Sony's mistake with the PS3. Don't hype something up until you have a finished product.

Good for Epic.

They made an amazing engine, and now they're reaping the rewards.

I can't help but wonder how groundbreaking this is gonna seem when it appears in a years time, two years after stuff like Bioshock and Gears and using the same engine. We'll probably have had a few early screens of unreal engine 4 by the time this sees the light of day.

I wish dev would use other engines other then UE3. Because right off the back people already hate the game. I to am getting sick of all the games using UE3. I can't help but wonder why not use a different engine or make your own. Because doing that you will get more people to say great instead of look its another FPS using the UE3.

Using the UR3 engine for PC games makes the games VERY scale-friendly. IIRC, it also helps optimizing games on the 360, aswell. So, as far as I'm concerned, I have no problem with people using the UR3 engine. And why would you? I mean, not everyone can afford a 1,000 dollar PC.

tl;dr: UR3 engine isn't as bad as the hate train makes it out to be.

I think a lot of devs don't want to sink the money into making a new engine. Its a money pit.

New engines are expensive to make and take time to optimize and debug. Why spend years doing that before you can even develop content when you can just license a tried-and-true engine?

Aside from that, why would people dislike a game just because of the engine it uses? I've never heard of anyone doing that, and I think it'd be pretty ridiculous, especially since the Unreal 3 engine seems to be a pretty capable piece of software.

It's gona suck since its from Jeremy Stieglitz. The Lead Designer of Monster Madness. The game was so bad that Artificial Studios shut down shortly after Monster Madness launched. Good luck Ignition. You'll need it.

I am so god damn sick of the Unreal Engine 3, everything that uses it looks so damn slick and oily. I can't stand it. Why can't Rockstar sell their engine? Or Battlefield Bad Company?
