Just an FYI, a lot of games use the "press start screen" when multiple controllers are plugged in and which ever controller "presses start" is the one that has the control over the menus and setting up the game. This is, in most cases, the reason for that screen, to set the controller that is to be used.

For the achievements question, I recommend using www.xbox360achievements.org, or www.x360a.org for short. It has all the features that you're talking about.

thanks for answering my question about the start button guys! that second question wasnt mine though :) Thinking about it after i sent the question in though, i had arrived at the same answer as Biggs had said in his comment. Assassins Creed is the game that made me ask that question and there is no multi in it, so i guess they are just sticking with tradition.

I will echo the responses of the previous posters and say that xbox360achievements.org is the place to go. They have guides on how to get the achievements and do reveal those pesky secret achievements, but you can choose to hide them so they don't spoil any gameplay.

As far as shecduling Arcade games I met with a producer of one of the titles that recently got released and he said they didnt know until the week before that their game was going to be released on the set date. When it comes to announcing them on Mondays I agree its stupid and they could possibly generate a little more buzz for the games if theyd send that press release out on Fridays instead.

That whole idea of "quality" is pretty key with these XBLA games. I have no problem paying $10 for some (and have - N+), but some of these games I am wondering what the hell they were thinking pricing them at 800 points. Sea Life Safari? Thanks for the answered question, too!

Speaking of cheap XBLA games, does anybody have recommendations for a 400 point game that's worth the (small amount of) money/fun to play?

I really like Uno for some good Live fun, also, if you don't have it, Geometry Wars. Contra, teenage mutant ninja turtles and sonic are all good if you want some of the classic stuff and want something cheap.

The main reason for the "Press Start" screen is to show off the title screen and then to go into Demo Mode if no one is around right away. This helps show off the game to anyone who is waiting for Jimmy to grab his Cheetos and Mountain Dew, but it also acts as a screen saver (remember that consoles and arcades started off on CRT monitors, known for deep burn-in). No one can play your game if they can't see it over a burnt-in list of menu optinos!
