MGS animated short is 'Cold Blooded'
Now that we've watched it, we're more eager than ever to hear anything new on the Digital Graphic Novel treatment of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty that was announced last year. The last we'd heard, the comic book adaptation is being slightly tweaked in order to better jive with the plot-bombs dropped in MGS4, in which case we're willing to wait a little longer.

Wow that was unexpectedly awesome. I want more!

That is the highest quality fan-made video i've ever seen.
Very well done.

Without the music at the end, I wouldn't have gotten chills up my spine.

Well done. Clever plot, excellent audio, good art - despite joining the ranks of The Quick, the Layered, and the Correctable - that is, looking like a big Wacom tablet sketch in Painter. GTA4 art was the same way.
There's not much to the story other than 'Big Boss is Awesome!', which is TOTALLY FINE with me, but I'm just sayin', don't think too hard about what you see, because there's some holes. But yeah, I'm all for web-based animated mini adventures.

Awesome video, thanks for the heads-up on it!

am i seriously the first person to make any mention of rick james?
phobic99 @ Jul 8th 2008 5:48AM
Haha... nope.
ParadeRainer @ Jul 8th 2008 4:52AM
Um... it's a twist lifted directly from the horrific MI:2 movie, and since everyone hated that one, not exactly sure why people are praising this one. Heh, games as art.
Looks worse than a South Park episode. Lacking the humor though.

As illtrooper mentioned, the plot has some holes. Like the glaring one about Boss's motivations. Why did he have to infiltrate that snowclad base if he knew it was an ambush? Also I don't see Snake sending out someone else to be killed in his place. He's a hero with a sense of honor and a gullible fool.
I liked the style of the short, though.

I don't believe it was Big Boss's intention to send a man to his death. The captured soldier was simply supposed to "spring the trap".
Sure, that could be a stretch, but I feel it's backed up by the narrator questioning, "Why did we shoot him on sight? Why did we not interrogate him?"
So Boss wasn't acting as some coward, sending a man to a senseless death. He was simply outwitting his enemies...his only fault ((a gullible mistake, so we agree on that)) was not realizing how ruthless their tactics would be.

Nice indeed

Can't comment too much on the story, because it felt more like a teaser than a short story/movie, but the animation's better than a bunch of 'serious' MGS tales out there.

Definitely some of the best fan art I have ever seen. Yea the plot holes are hard to swallow, I find it smarter to make a simple yet well made story line when it comes to fan art. No twists, so you can focus on the quality.

Production value was outstanding and loved the art. But a horrible twist that didn't make any sense whatsoever.
WiiFTW @ Jul 8th 2008 9:52AM
I liked that a lot. I'd like to see more stuff in that vein (decently animated, proper voice acting, etc.)
Residentevil72501 @ Jul 8th 2008 12:44PM
I liked alot, Almost as much as im liking those Dead Space video graphic novel whatchamacallits!
