Agreed, and as sweet as SSHD might be I'm not gonna play it just becuase it has trophies. I'll wait for a game that really gets my attn or until they update some games I already own that I like.

I can feel the whoring effect that 360's achievements had on me starting to wash over to ps3. I have like $20 saved up for Siren at the end of the month, but I sat and stared at SSHD on the PSN for over 20 minutes (no joke) before I finally yanked myself away :\

So that means out of all the games I've played on 360 I only have 11 platinum trophies(1000/1000gp or 200/200gp)if that makes sense to anyone. I have about 4 or 5 titles where I need just 1 or 2 ch33voz to get all 1000/1000 unlocked but they are too tedious and I dont think I would enjoy getting them.

Bottom line is these are not going to be easy to come by.

SSHD not your type of game? It really is a very good game. IMO, it's the best dual analog shooter around.

Of course it was the best Vid, its on the PS3 right!?

There are plenty of others that play just like it. Its not bad, but it sure hasn't done anything to make me say its the best of its type around. I can't keep myself entertained long enough to get the trophies - its just not interesting enough. I like it about as much as I like all of this dual stick genre - which are all pretty much the same game with different graphics.

well i think that looks better, although i didnt really have a problem with the original. i tell you what though, i wont be getting any Platinum trophies if they make this practice Super Stardust HD has adopted the norm. im not paying for the DLC just to get a platinum trophy.

i doubt it will happen though since most new games wont have DLC out when they drop but will probably have trophies.

I was pretty angry about that too, considering I have every trophy available in the original, but refuse to pay for expansions just for trophies. Then I heard that even if you get every trophy available, including those from the expansions, you still don't get a platinum trophy! What gives? Do they plan on adding another expansion? If that's the case, is Sony suggesting that developers who plan on eventually releasing expansions not include their platinum trophies until their last expansions?

Paul, from what I've read is the splitscreen co-op is what stands in most peoples way of the platinum trophy. That is to become available in a recently pulled update for sshd when the whole 2.4 thing hit.

(on a side point, how is it that the co-op trophy which is said to be really easy to get (once you've updated) and it's a more valuable than say that 7 minute panic attack in endless which is bronze. I believe it should be the opposite.

@Thr3e2wenty8

Hahah... yeah, WTF? They didn't classify some of those trophies accurately at all. The one you're talking about where you have to survive the Endless mode for 7 minutes without dying is tough. It should be a silver at least. I managed to get it though.

Other than the co-op Gold trophy, the only one I'm missing now is that damned Late Bomber. That damn trophy should be gold... it's by far the hardest one to get.

I have always felt that while original intentions were good, it all leads to some ass-clown outside the map nading the spawn points or the enemabandit trading/giving free headshots and the accomplishment faster/easier than the guy who can play the game right and earns it. Congrats douches!

Don't get me wrong I like the extra challenge, I just hate frauds being grouped in with the truly gifted players.

Don't you hate the people that cheat on achievements? Don't you think it's a little ridiculous when people buy foreign versions of a game just because they can get a higher gamer score?

All games have some kind of score, and these are really just an aggregated score. It's when people put too much emphasis on it that it gets crazy.

I'm really glad Sony implemented it. It's been a huge boon to the 360 and really extends the value of the 360's games. Hopefully it'll do the same for Sony.

That said, when the trophies and gamerscore start negatively impacting the playing of the game, then it can be a problem.

I own a PS3 and I still don't see the point. To me, no trophy will replace the satisfaction I feel hearing the overdriven wails and squeals from some 12-year-old warrior whose microphone is turned up too high.

I'll jump into the fray now by saying I believe trophies won't be that important in multiplatform games cause most are made on the 360 first and they mandate achievements while Sony doesn't so I bet we will still have multiplatform games with no Trophy support. I just don't see developers wanting top go through the trouble of the Achievement BS again on the PS3 if they already made it for the 360.

Really, trophies and achievements are some of the lowest hanging fruit in a video game. They're butt simple to program and are given a lot of value by the customer. The return on investment is huge. Anyone who doesn't implement trophies now that they're available is a moron.

Surely they can just reuse the exact same achievements in the PS3 versions as in the xbox 360...

For instance, I don't see why Rockstar doesn't release a patch to bring all of the 360 achievements to the PS3 now that the tropies update is live.

(More importantly, I want trophies for Civ revolutions!)
