1942: Joint Strike set to deploy 7/23 to XBLA, 7/24 to PSN

Capcom's World War II shoot-em-up 1942: Joint Strike is set to launch the week after E3, July 23 for Xbox Live Arcade and the day after for PlayStation Network. It will cost 800 MS points (US $10), according to a press release.

The game is yet another HD remake for Capcom, after giving similar treatment to Super Puzzle Fighter II and Super Super Street Fighter II.

Developer Backbone Entertainment went the extra mile, however, in creating new backdrops, levels and enemies. The game features a new score by frequent Metal Gear Solid contributor Norihiko Hibino. What hasn't changed? It's still a shoot-em-up, so for better or worse, you know exactly what to expect.

Does it have online multiplayer? This is the kind of game that I could kill countless hours on with my friends while using voice chat.

Yes. The entire point of the game is the co-op joint attacks.

Yea, looks like two players in the gallery. Up to four people though would be nice, not sure if thats possible.

Read the preview. It specifically talks about online co-op.

damn it was already a strong possibility for me but online co-op would seal the deal for me.

Unfortunately, "FOXHOUND" was taken.
So I went with my alternate SN; "makioholic". If you've got MGS4/MGO, I'm "frozenpython" on there.

You know that you could have added something to your PSN ID so you could still have FOXHOUND. Like _FOXHOUND_ or xFOXHOUNDx, even F0XH0UND with zeros or maybe you just didn't like how that looked? Just sayin, either way it sucks that PSN doesn't have good avatars. Especially MG or MGS4 related ones like your current josytiq pic. Love that one btw.

I'm going to add you to my PSN list if that's all right with you, Foxhound...most of my friends that live close by still don't have a PS3, so my PSN list is too short. :-(

I'm not too worried on who sends invites or whatever on PSN/XBL/WiiCode, since it usually isn't difficult to remove them from listing. I'm at work right now, but I'll add everyone when I get home. I'm usually on MGS4/MGO(obviously), COD4, PUZZLE FIGHTER, or even SINGSTAR(for parties on the weekend). :]

Or it could be that the 24th is a thursday, therefore being the only day of the week that Sony updates the PSN.

Indeed, such is life when the whole network can only receive updates 1 day a week. I'm still not sure why they do that.

things have gone up early on psn its just rare. my guess is they just have a procedure they want to follow.

Looks pretty, but makes me wonder how many 'new' people who weren't into the classic old shooters actually play these nowadays.

Online play? So us PS3 users wait the extra day but get online play for free? xbox 2 users need to pay for Arcade online play? No Silver access?

And have a good time getting your friend in there by calling him on the phone (if you even know him in real life) or exchanging a series of slow text messages through a convoluted menu system rather than just pressing one button and being done with it.

Again, the extra day is not a delay. Sony only updates their store once a week so anything that comes out for both systems has to wait until Thursday for PSN. This isn't another delaystation 3 problem.

Yeah you gotta pay for online play on the xbox 2. Includes arcade titles. Little known fact that all xbox 2 fanboys cover up or just ignore. But anyone with both systems, people would still pay for the xbox version because it warrants they're annual online fee.

Think i'm going to wait on this one. i felt really ripped of with that commando bullshit.

A game well worthy of a remake, and it looks great! 1942 was one of the first video games I remember playing for hours and hours.

Have been anticipating this one, now that all their retro updates are dated or out hopefully Bionic Commando Rearmed will rear it's head real soon. Was supposed to be the first out the gate...

Instant buy for me, unless what I read is true and there is no auto-fire. That would totally suck to have to keep jamming the button.
