Mega Man 9 priced 1000 Wii points in Japan
Japanese gaming information purveyor Famitsu writes that Mega Man 9 is priced at 1000 Wii Points. We're currently unaware of any WiiWare title changing prices across the Pacific, so the newest adventure of the Blue Bomber could hit our shores for $10. But ... there's a possible catch.
Wii Fanboy tells us that both Nintendo Power and Famitsu now allude to some kind of DLC for the game. If it's anything like the Final Fantasy: My Life as a King DLC we're not going to fret; however, if it's $10 for the first three bosses and five bucks for every boss after that -- expect a full blown nutter.

It should be priced at the 500 points value like the NES Virtual Console games.

Oh, and Titanium_Orchid's comment is quite the funny.

Of course I can afford a game for ten bucks. In fact you could use the same flawed argument even if they sold Megaman 9 for $60.But the question is if the game itself is worth the price?
And when it comes to a brand-new game that looks uglier then some SNES titles and took relatively little time and effort to make then the answer is no, it's not worth ten bucks.
In fact I could probably find a couple of FREE Fan-made Mega Man games that are just as good as Mega Man 9 will be.
Now where's my Wii hard drive?

I read that Capcom will be releasing Megaman 1 and 2 on Virtual Console here in USA.
$20 bucks well expended.

megamans 1-8 plus powerbattles
:p
But I want to play both games with NES style controller. =)
Thats not an insult by the way.
How big a collection do you have anyway? Every thread relating to the Wii or DS you seem to be in.
Fernando, I'm going to give you some applause using my keyboard.

A note to all developers:
ALLOWING CUSTOMERS TO REMAP CONTROLS IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA. While you may think one control scheme is ideal, not everyone will agree with you.
Personally, I had no problem playing the GCN version of MMAC... after getting used to the reversed controls, that is. It was actually the first time I beat Megaman 8 (for whatever reason, I could never beat Wily on the PS1 version...)
anywho, i love megaman, cant wait....wish they would realese the megaman x games, i loved those so much :D

True, but we're not talking about upgrades of the same game are we. The article was in reference to dlc. EA likes to charge people for individual items that should and probably are already in the game, you just pay to unlock them alah Godfather. Big difference from an entire game. I don't think you're going to find too many people around here that have high praise for EA and their known practices but whatever. It's Megaman 9 I care about.
Hope always dies at last.

But there is only a WiiWare version (for now...).
I know some say there's nostalgia to it and I agree but still, Capcom can spend little resources making this and sort of mask it behind it being nostalgic, going back to its first roots.
I love old-school games as well, but still........I must be the only one? : /

I personally like the graphics and, yea it could of been done in 16-bit(,etc.) but it just wouldn't come across as nostalgic.
Though I do hope Megaman 10 has updated graphics! :)
Sure, a modern 3D HD shaded game could have a clean environment too. LBP and LostWinds make great use of focal blur to make the background not interfere with the game elements. The fact is, though, it is very difficult for game designers and artists to hold back on detail if they are not restrained.
I really can't wait for this. Especially after Ars printed an article that shoots at every console fanboy who raves about graphics...it's all about the gameplay, and the older Mega Man games had it. I'd buy it, delete it, and buy it again just to keep developers focusing on gameplay.

Now put up your flame shield.
With Mega Man 9 (or any game that has been done a million times) Capcom had a choice:
1) Create "just-another-Mega-Man game" aka making the graphics a little better (in HD) than Mega Man ZX2 or whatever the latest version is. So that it looks like any other new 2D game on the market.
or
2) Go back to the original sprite design and instantly tap into the nostalgia older gamers have and create 100000 times as much interest in the title. Does anyone think there would be this many individual stories about a new Mega Man game if it wasn't done in the 8-bit style?
Nintendo had a similar choice after the GameCube. Nintendo could have made a console that was just as powerful as the PS3, if not more powerful. Instead though they decided to concentrate on making games more intuitive to play.
All that being said however Mega Man 9 better be the greatest single gameplay experience in the franchise, if not out of every game released in the last couple of years.

Wow! Megaman 9 is going to be 8-bit graphics! Finally a NEW Megaman game that is done in a style that we (fanboys) approve of.
Wait... It might be more than 10 dollars?
Ludicrous, I'm not willing to pay the price of a "new" more modern, graphically, game!"*
Sounds odd to me. If Megaman is a NEW Megaman game, despite the graphics, then shouldn't you be willing to pay FULL price for it? If not, then please don't act like it's the second coming.

Heres a medal too.

Although, Bass and Robot Masters look fine, I guess. Personally, I'd prefer MM7-style.
so when i see these graphics for mega man 9 i dont exactly think of fun i think more of unfair deaths, limited jump ability, limited continues, and maddening difficulty

I liked Megaman as it is. They're hard, yes, but not excessively so (see: Ninja Gaiden 8-bit, Contra, etc.). And if they were too easy, it wouldn't be any fun to play.
Games have been made progressively easier lately. New Super Mario Bros, Yoshi's Island DS, etc.
The exception is a game like GHIII. But the problem there is they make it artificially difficult. Like if a Robot Master were to regenerate health if you took to long to beat him.
$10 for a brand new Mega Man game? Yeah, it's twice as much as a VC NES game, but then this ISN'T a re-released NES game now is it?
They could've put it on a DS card or GBA cartridge and charged $30-35 bucks for it. I feel the price is quite fair and will be picking it up once I hear more about the DLC.
And hey, a Wii game with DLC? I'm surprised people are freaking out as opposed to being excited that DLC is coming to the Wii.
Fistleo the Predatoroid in Megaman ZX is able to regenerate health... And the fact his Biometal is in a hard-to-miss spot makes getting a Lv.4 Victory rather hard...

Would I like to see MM9 in HD graphics? Sure, I'm curious to see what it would look like, but maybe they'll go that route with the 360/PS3 version.
