Rumor: Wolfenstein will likely appear at E3
We thought it was important to comb through Spike TV's E3 coverage plans, if only so we could plan our walking paths to put us in front of the cameras as much as humanly possible. But imagine our surprise when we actually found news hiding within our ticket to stardom. Check this listing:
"Geoff Keighley is on the E3 show floor to give Spike viewers the inside scoop on the sights and sounds of the show. Also, tune in for more world exclusive surprises including something special from id Software and Raven Software. -- Tuesday, July 15 and Wednesday, July 16 (11:59 PM - Midnight, ET/PT)"
Something special from id and Raven, huh? Could it be the 2-and-1/2-years-in-development Wolfenstein follow up that's supposed to arrive this year? Yeah, we think that's a pretty safe bet. Here's hoping we get to hear more about another return to the castle next week.

samfish @ Jul 9th 2008 2:44PM
HeXen was awesome back in the day.
Heretic, too.
Mr.ESC @ Jul 9th 2008 3:38PM

Why is everyone around that castle so grumpy? Everytime I go there people are shooting me and stuff. C'mon already!
samfish @ Jul 9th 2008 2:45PM
Probably because the princess isn't in that castle.
Jakka @ Jul 9th 2008 2:41PM

Obligatory Borat quote?
"Very nice, how much?"

Oh, thank God. It was beginning to look like there weren't enough first person shooters out there! I hear this one's got Nazis too! My originalitorometer is going through the roof! What'll they think of next?! Maybe some sort of Space Marine vs. the forces of Hell shooter?
Nah, that's just crazy talk!
samfish @ Jul 9th 2008 3:01PM
In fairness, these are the ORIGINAL Nazis. All the other Nazis that we've been shooting over the years have just been pretenders.
Jakka @ Jul 9th 2008 3:22PM
...and HOME-MADE Zombies. None of this modern space monkey hidden virus crap.
If you need a good Zombie, make your own Zombie!
Huey2k2 @ Jul 9th 2008 3:45PM
Wolfenstein has always been THE World War 2 shooter, despite what anyone else says.
And Wolfenstein games always find ways to not be like every other generic WW2 game out there. Take for instance the multiplayer in RTCW, by todays standards its only merely average, but back in the day it was absolutely amazing.
Turkish Superman @ Jul 9th 2008 4:33PM
You're AWESOME at sarcasm.
No, really.
Mr.ESC @ Jul 9th 2008 3:41PM
Oh yeah More Nazi pwning fun.
See Treyarch this is how you do a WWII game...On a second thought I don't know if it counts as a WWII shooter.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Jul 9th 2008 3:58PM
It's kinda dumb to say something like that since we don't even know if this game will even make an appearance yet.
Krazy Koala @ Jul 9th 2008 4:34PM
For the record, a lot of the Treyarch staff were part of the Return to Castle Wolfenstein development staff, until the company broke up.
Let's wait and see for Call of Duty World at War, if its true that CoD3 was made in 1 year, then I think that shows that they might have the skills to make a great shooter, if given enough time.
Mr.ESC @ Jul 9th 2008 6:01PM
“It's kinda dumb to say something like that since we don't even know if this game will even make an appearance yet”.
No sir, if this game doesn't exist now that would be dumb but yeah I guess ahead conclusions but can you blame? who doesn’t loves ID games?
Sean @ Jul 9th 2008 3:46PM
Screw wolfenstein, I want a proper sequel to Soldier of Fortune II. That game was the best military shooter before COD4 came out.
Haggard @ Jul 9th 2008 4:19PM
Man, I can't wait for this!
The_Punisher @ Jul 9th 2008 4:52PM
Hate to tell you guys this, but Wolfenstein remains one of the greatest shooters of all time. It's not like Goldeneye, good "back in the day". This game still beats out many shooter,s and this could be my most anticipated release EVER if true.
ronald.raygun @ Jul 9th 2008 7:55PM
i would rate the multiplayer for rtcw and especially rtcw: et as the best multiplayer fps's i've ever played tied maybe to the original team fortress, can't comment on team fortress 2 since i haven't played it yet.
kevinski @ Jul 9th 2008 9:18PM
Please let Nerve do the multi-player again this time around. I really tired of Splash Damage screwing things up. Oh, and how about a remake of mp_beach while we're at it? :) :) :)
Poisoned Al @ Jul 9th 2008 9:39PM
DO WANT! A new Wolfinstine would break my TF2 addiction (if Battlefield Heroes isn't any good that is)
