Maybe we're putting too much pressure on Wario after his delightful minigame outings, but we really expect Nintendo to be able to come up with something better than "Tilt the Wiimote to tilt the cannon." We should also point out that the above video is completely in Japanese, so there's every chance the announcer could be saying "This isn't at all what you'll be doing" or "We've intentionally made this look not fun so you won't expect the fun when it arrives." ... But we doubt it.
See how Wario Land Shake's using the Wiimote

Fuckin Joystiq.
Yea let's totally ignore the beautiful hand drawn graphics.
Hate that which you cannot become. Or in this case, hate the console you'll never catch up to! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

The video quality is very bad. This is a much better quality video:

And Joystiq... really. This game looks very good. Classic platformer, with a great art style, and hand draw animation.
And you say it doesnt looks fun, but in the Quantum Solace thread you said that that game looks really good?
I don't know what do you guys expect from a 2D platformer. But this game looks very good. Both graphically and gameplay.

I agree, this game looks really fun. I'm waring of too much shaking, but I love the aiming by tilt.

Hmm, I see it more as Nintendo returning to sidescrolling (awesome) with the added functionality of some wiimote gestures. Personally, I think it looks like fun.

And what do you think they meant by "Shake" anyway?
Not that I like the control scheme, but its kinda exactly what I'd expect from Nintendo.
Who knows? Maybe it will turn out to be good. Doubtful, but you never know.

Every game that Nintendo has developed with motion controls, all works great.
I don't see why you are doubtful.

Alexis, you're such a grouch! Nintendo don't make bad platformers! What, you're name isn't Alexis? It's actually Alex?! Well I call you Alexis anyway! How do you like me now, grouch?

Dude, the name IS Alexis. Yeesh.
And not all platformers by nintendo are amazing. Yes, they are quite, quite good at it, but they aren't batting a thousand. Usually, the lackluster ones are developed by companies outside of Nintendo itself, like Wario World (though I do love me some Treasure) and Yoshi Island DS.
I reservations on this games qualities until I play it. Yes, it looks good. In fact, the artwork and animation in the game is excellent. But until I get my hands on it, I'm going to keep my doubts.

I'm a bit skeptical about steering the submarine with the Wiimote, but I think all and all the motion functionality shown looks appropriate. I'm not a big fan of waggle, but I don't really care right now -- the game looks awesome. It looks fun. Wanna fight about it?

Honestly, I just don't care about motion controls. I bought a wii because I enjoy Nintendo games more than all the others. That's it.

God forbid an action that requires the character to shake something out of a bag should be, you know, tied to shaking a real-life object...
And the title is Wario Land "Shake"... what do you expected?

Yes....god forbid it, please. Just change the name to Wario Land....something else.
Like that other guy said, the controls will probably do nothing to enhance the gameplay, and therefore will seem unnecessary.
Why ruin a perfectly good platformer with stupid controls just to put the Wii Remote to use?

@Co
You really need to pull the Wii Mote out of your backside. All you do anymore is troll Wi threads. Calling Joystiq names now are we? Don't bite the hand that feeds or daddy might cut your water off.
@Jacio
I think the game looks damn fun but I agree the controls appear to be pretty pointless and only implemented to make use for the Wii mote. I would assume Nintendo would support multiple input devices. I am really feeling this game.
I have yet to play a Wii game that controls better with the Wii Mote as opposed to the classic or Wave Bird. Doesn't exist.

I'd say that Mario Kart Wii is best with the Wii Remote+Nunchuk combo than Classic or GameCube controller.
(Wii Remote alone or with Wii Wheel is just messy)
You get analog stick control, and pulling off tricks in mid-air is a simple as shaking the Wii Remote a bit.
Though, if they allowed you to remap controls, Classic/GameCube might've been better (it's annoying how you have to take your thumb off the stick to tap the +Control Pad to do tricks... Why couldn't they have mapped that as a shoulder button or something?!).

Iunno, Joystiq, you're entitled to your opinion... personally, I think the Wiimote controls look cool and unique. It's great for those of us who used to do that automatically (tilt the controller as we steered left and right, etc). I'm really excited for this game.

I don't understand why ANYONE is doubtful. It's the classic Wario platforming with a motion based twist for controls, what's NOT to like?
As long as it has the AMAZING platforming and puzzles Wario Land 4 had, without that incredibly steep difficulty for bosses, I'm game.

I dunno, most Wii games that use motion subtly end up feeling better than games that abuse the hell out of the Wii remote. This control scheme looks perfectly fine to me.

An Wario Land game sequel on a home console as opposed to a handheld that is still a 2D sidescroller is enough to make anyone cream his (or her?) pants. I gotta call McElroy out for hating on this one. This game looks awesome. The animation looks very well done and you can tell you'll have to master all of Wario's moves in order to make it to the treasure in each level. I'm salivating already. Joystiq, stop hating. Everyone else, anticipate this game.

Why the 2d graphics? I'm all for 2d gameplay but i think it could look great like super mario sunshine and be a crazy adventure. is this a full blown retail wii title? i really like wario ware smooth moves, wish there were more games like it.

What's wrong with 2D? Damn kids these days... The game looks better as a hand-drawn 2D title than it would as a 3D title, if you ask me.
And, yes, it's a retail title. I doubt they'd be able to fit all of those anime cutscenes on a WiiWare download.

It's getting really tiring to hear people complain about motion controls again and again. Regardless if they are actually tacked on or perfectly fine, the bitching train just keeps on tooting. Oh it's so tiring, oh it doesn't add anything, oh it doesn't suddenly make my penis grow.
It's almost like a certain group of gamers are affraid that they will be forced to do more than press a button or tilt an analog stick if motion controls are not just a novelty, but here to stay.
The same people probably can't even enjoy ringing the bell in Zack and Wiki. Which always manages to bring a boyish grin to my face.

The game itself looks good, but I hope they allow a non-waggle control scheme. While waggle is certainly functional, I doubt it is precise enough for classic-style 2D platformers, which absolutely require tight controls.

OMG, they should make WarioWare Twisted for the Wii. That was by far the best GBA game ever made. I still play it to this day.
And yes I know that Wii already has Smoothmoves, but Twisted was so much better. Really, the best WarioWare game ever made.
