I actually forgot about this game in the storm of AMAZING games that rule my life. (MGS4 most recently to blame.) I'm probably not gonna buy it directly, but I'll give it a rental first.

I'm REALLY looking forward to Mercenaries 2, but I don't think this statement is correct. How does the co-op in Crackdown not count as the same thing?

I was thinking the same thing.

Maybe Mercs 2 allows for system co-op so you don't have to be online?

In Crackdown it wasn't drop in/drop out. When someone came into your city it brought you back out of the game into the menu, then you had to launch a new game.
