Mega Man 9 debut trailer, confirmed for XBLA and PSN
IGN has an info twofer, with a new trailer for Mega Man 9 and confirmation that the WiiWare game will make its way to Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network (wow, the difference a week makes). There's no word yet on price for any of the consoles, but -- if Japan is any indication -- the Wii version should be $10.
Check out the trailer after the break already, which is much better than the first footage we saw earlier this week.

Cool, now everyone can enjoy this game :)
tmacairjordan87 @ Jul 10th 2008 8:42PM
Confirmed for the others until next week when it will again be wiiware only.
Doesn't matter because if it's $10 on the other systems as well I'm not even going to consider getting it. That's almost robbery.
fawazr @ Jul 10th 2008 8:47PM
Indeed.

A sequel to one of the most legendary franchises in gaming? Developed by the same team as the two excellent DS MM games? Awesome music?
Pfft... you'd have to pay me to play something that stupid. For only six times as much, I could any of hundreds of games half as good!
Adam @ Jul 10th 2008 10:25PM
Dude, $10 for and emulated ROM is robbery. $10 for a brand new game is AWESOME! I can't wait!
favian @ Jul 10th 2008 10:28PM
$10 too much? rough times i guess, gas and all.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jul 10th 2008 10:32PM
Yeah $10 is too much for a game that could run on a system that has been dead for nearly 20 years. If you want to waste money on nostalgia then go for it, but don't call me poor because I refuse to take the bait and get ripped off.
Adam @ Jul 10th 2008 11:01PM
Great! So just like every other posted column regarding Megaman 9 you've stated the same opinion you have of Capcom's choice for this game. So why do you keep posting with each new column about this game if you don't care and aren't going to buy it? Oh yeah, that's right, for the attention. So in addtion to being a graphics whore, and a cheapskate, we can now add to that, an attention whore as well. Sorry you don't know how to have fun anymore and everything has to be so got dam serious with you. Oh the drama queen that is tmacairjordan87.
juju187 @ Jul 11th 2008 12:50AM
if the 87 was the year you were born i can see why you hate megaman it's before your time son...
Bendok @ Jul 11th 2008 5:36AM
Hey, I was born in '87, and I love classic Mega Man!
A Pissed-off English Gamer @ Jul 11th 2008 9:44AM

I love this track, perhaps too much :-)
Shadow El @ Jul 11th 2008 9:09PM
Oh noes, $10? For the first new Mega Man game in 10 years?
TOO MUCH. :O
thegears @ Jul 10th 2008 8:43PM
and i was all worried because i just sold my wii. thank you capcom.
Jhongerkong @ Jul 10th 2008 8:45PM
I challenge someone to name a game coming out this year that will top this.
Hoopla @ Jul 10th 2008 8:49PM
This looks really good yes but, I think Wario Land Shake will be the supiror 2D platformer. Not to say that MM9 wont be good.
Brett from Atlanta @ Jul 10th 2008 8:50PM
Little Big Planet
Jhongerkong @ Jul 10th 2008 8:51PM
Close, but nope

Monkeys Suck @ Jul 10th 2008 9:21PM
Spore
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
There are probably going to be other games too, but I don't want to deny MM9 its glory. It will be amazing!
Prince King @ Jul 10th 2008 10:41PM
i challenge people to name a game on that engine that looks better
Mr.ESC @ Jul 10th 2008 11:52PM
Loco Roco 2! if the difficulty is increased and the Level editor works this time around.
usagi704 @ Jul 11th 2008 12:43AM
Ketsui Death Label
Bangai-O Spirits
Bionic Commando Rearmed
Yakuza 2
Persona 4
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix
...I could go on all day with games that will be better than this.
They absolutely should have made the audio/visual presentation of MM9 something much more befitting of this generation's hardware. If I want to play a Mega Man game with a NES presentation I already own the first 6 and can simply play those.
Paulmichael @ Jul 11th 2008 1:46AM
I'm gonna have to go with LittleBigPlanet. Hell, you can probably remake any levels from ANY MegaMan game from within LBP, baddies included! Not that I would, because I was never any good at that game haha...
Vidikron (FU) @ Jul 11th 2008 1:59AM
Many games actually. I think this holds a lot of appeal to fans of the Mega Man series, but for most people it's just a new $10 game that looks like it's 25 years old. And, no, Mega Man is not before my time... I was just never a fan of the series. But for the Mega Man fans out there... enjoy! (seriously)
Jacksons @ Jul 11th 2008 3:03AM
I like my Mega Mans, but comparing it to what the 360 and ps3 are offering this fall/winter? I don't think so.
deaftly @ Jul 11th 2008 11:03AM
SUPER MARIO BROS..............4!
Bocephus 90 @ Jul 10th 2008 8:55PM
This is...retarded. Trying to cash in on nostalgia.
Here, I'm going to make a new Mario game for Wii, oh but it's graphics will suck. But I'm just trying to be 'retro', yeah thats it, it's N64 style graphics! Remember that? Awesome huh?
NES megaman graphics were great for it's time. And the only reason they would still be considered 'great', is only because of our fond memories of it.
If this starts a new trend, i quit.
Hafk @ Jul 10th 2008 9:03PM
If they start focusing on more gameplay rather than more graphics, then I win.
T @ Jul 10th 2008 9:08PM
It's a good thing that graphics mean everything these days. I mean, it's not like people PLAY games or anything.
*yeesh*
Let's just put this one out there, anybody who thinks this game sucks strictly because of the graphics...please turn in you Gamer Card at the desk on your way out.
Night Elve @ Jul 10th 2008 9:11PM
Oh come on Hafk stop that bullshit. What every one of us wants is a game with amazing graphics and an amazing gameplay mechanic.
Bocephus 90 is right this retro thing is just a fucking excuse to produce a cheap & crappy game while getting a few bucks for it.
Exo @ Jul 10th 2008 9:16PM
Who the fuck cares as long as its fun.
You guys forget the point of video games or soemthing?
Monkeys Suck @ Jul 10th 2008 9:26PM
Everyone is right...graphics do NOT make a game, and people fail to realize that. So far, with few exceptions, games have gotten easier, and have much weaker gameplay. It's really sad.
You should already quit gaming, as you fail to see the point.
Bocephus 90 @ Jul 10th 2008 9:34PM
Gameplay ISNT difficulty genious-face.
I can make a game in flash that would be nearly impossible to beat, does that mean it has AMAZING gameplay? NO
Graphics DO not make a game. Just as gameplay DOES NOT make a game. It's both ingredients perfected that make a great game.
Monkeys Suck @ Jul 10th 2008 9:47PM
Idiot, I abstracted the too, I said they are easier AND have weaker gameplay.
Graphics don't necessarily make a game fun. Take Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Pretty sure they would be just as fun 2D.
Yourself @ Jul 10th 2008 10:10PM
I don't get how gameplay doesn't make the game (literally, just look at the word). Even if you were to say that a game's quality hinges on the combination of visuals and gameplay, you'd still be placing any well-playing game of the current generation as strictly superior a well-playing game of last.
To say that graphics are a necessary element in the greatness of a game is denying... well, pretty much every great game ever. Unless you're sticking with the whole "a game has to look good for its time" argument, which is really just saying that you judge a game by the effort the developers put into it, which is simply absurd.
Lijik @ Jul 10th 2008 10:49PM
I still think the best platformer of all time is Jazz Jackrabbit 2 and that only uses 256 colors. So OBVIOUSLY, compared to Sonic Unleashed and its superior its total shit.
Wait, what the fuck? I can't even look at that and imagine it makes sense. How the hell do you guys do it?
Lijik @ Jul 10th 2008 11:23PM
Oh man, glad I went through this again.
*superior graphics
bleh @ Jul 11th 2008 12:33AM
Greetings, all corporate apologists! News flash: the main point of ire probably isn't whether it'll be a good game or not. The bottom line is that you're paying $10 US for a hacked NES rom. There is no justifying such outrageous price-gouging tactics. I fail to see how the discussion suddenly moved to it's being "fun" or not. You can find a version of Mega Man 3 where all the sprites are smoking doobies. And yes, Top Man is now "Pot Man."
Lijik @ Jul 11th 2008 1:09AM
No. Its not. I'm paying 10 bucks for 8 new goddamn levels that they just made. This is like complaining about the Bionic Comamando remake because its just a NES game with 3d models. Except since BCR is 3d its all of a sudden off the hook because somehow making 3d graphics takes more effort than making 8 stages from scratch.
bleh @ Jul 11th 2008 9:27AM
Fine, then. Whatever helps you sleep at night.
shouryuuken @ Jul 10th 2008 9:19PM
still think it fits better for the wii, so ill purchase it there.
but i have to admit, all the mega man excitement had me go back to the old games, and after playing wily wars/mega world (the remakes of the first 3 for the genesis), 7, and 8... and then seeing more trailers for warioland shake.. i wish they didnt go 8 bit.
Bocephus 90 @ Jul 10th 2008 9:23PM
No one will deny that a good game needs good gameplay, just as no one deny that a good game also needs good graphics.
Let's pretend the Zelda franchise never exsisted. And let's say Nintendo released it in 2009. Same graphics, same gameplay. Now, while Zelda is a terrific game, would anyone really take it seriously now days against current-gen material? Of course not. It may build a small following of retro-tards, but it would be largely ignored.
Visual art is very important. Mega-Man 9 is an lazy crap clone, by a cheap lazy company trying to make a quick buck.
F U Capcom, and F U Charles Osgood.
Anni @ Jul 10th 2008 9:29PM
Your comparison makes no sense. It WOULD make sense if you keep the fact that Zelda is an established franchise, then in 2009 they came out with another Zelda game with the same graphics as the first NES game.
Which, by the by, sounds fuckin' AWESOME anyway.
Cesaria (cesariatic.wordpress.com) @ Jul 10th 2008 9:33PM
Your point makes no sense. MM is an established franchise that began in 8-bit. Had it been the other way around, you might have a point. What we have here is a franchise going back to its roots in the main series that started on the NES, bringing the difficulty and art direction with it.
Bocephus 90 @ Jul 10th 2008 9:38PM
It actually makes perfect sense if you think about it.
I'm saying that IF an unestablished franchise (instead of say Megaman for instance) tried to release a title now days, with visuals that of Commodore 64, do you honestly think it would stand up against current-gen titles, reguardless of how well it played?
Given that, Capc$om$$$4osoft, is trying to make a quick buck on the established retro Mega-man series.
Cesaria (cesariatic.wordpress.com) @ Jul 10th 2008 9:39PM
Great minds think alike, Anni. Haha.
Exo @ Jul 10th 2008 9:44PM
so your saying any otehr company out there isnt trying to make a quick buck?
any one hating on this game and saying capcom is lazy can eat my dick
