PSN Thursday: The calm before the E3 storm
This week's PSN update brings the Rainbow Six Vegas 2 update, Ape Escape Academy for PSP and several new demos and videos. Next week's E3 week update should be a big one with Elefunk joining PSN's excellent selection of downloadable games, along with several videos -- and hopefully some demos -- from the show.
Over at PS3 Fanboy they have this week's European PSN update, which adds the Escher-edly perspective twisting echochrome to the service.

Anyone know when Wipeout HD and Pixeljunk Eden are supposed to be released?
Arturo @ Jul 10th 2008 9:11PM
you read my mind. want so bad :(
wipeout hd at least. i haven't checked out this pixeljunk you speak of though. i hear plenty a buzz of it lately so maybe i'll look into it.

Give it a look Arturo, I think you will be a pleasant mixture of curious and excited. It's up there with Little Big Planet on my list of games I really wanna play this year. Hopefully we'll get dates for all these games next week.

Talk to the hand

btw...
.. y'know it's been a lil' quiet amongst you DS fanboys out there. lmao..
i've long since predicted that the psp was going to rule even before it's game collection expanded into this library, pardon me- oasis of games that you see before you at your local consumer-robbing GameStop. can't help but remember how i openly pledged my support for the jesus of hand helds and got ridiculed and insulted in posts left to right.
Now look at you!! You salivate at the mere sight of a GameStop employee, begging for a DS revival!!
NOW WHO'S LAUGHING?????????? BWAA HAA HAAAA!!!!!!!
p.s. just had to let that out

The PSN store is taking forever to load for me, and my downloads don't seem to be loading. Anyone else having these problems? Seems to have just started for me after updating to 2.41.
And I thought the in-game XMB was supposed to allow for changing audio devices in-game, yet I wasn't able to do that.
Sony, another patch next week please.
Brodie-san @ Jul 11th 2008 3:34AM
Nope, everything is running super smooth for me. Downloaded SSHD (very addictive btw) and 225MB came down in a few minutes.
As for the "change audio device" part of your query are you talking about playing music off your PS3 HDD in-game? Cause that needs the developer of the game to support it.
DCBlack @ Jul 11th 2008 10:48AM
Maybe it's just my internet then. It seems to be slow in general lately.
And no, I meant the ability to change audio output, like changing to my surround sound unit and back without having to exit the game.

In my experience, the PS Store has loaded extremely fast since the 2.41 update. Also, it's finally caching images, which is great.
The big news here should be the Siren demo. Why no love, Joystiq?
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread) @ Jul 11th 2008 12:40AM
OMG!!11!1! JOYSTIQ IS TOBIAS!!1!1!11111!!
lol but seriously, i did think that that was kind of a big deal even though i cant get down with survival horror games. i heard it was supposed to be good though. maybe ill man up and play it some time lol.
Brodie-san @ Jul 11th 2008 3:31AM
Indeed. I remember seeing the PS Store for the first time (pre-redesign) and thinking: "What the HELL is this? This looks like some high-school website project."
Then the redesign came and I thought: "Better. But soooo sloooow ..."
2.41 has made it a lot better. The caching feature finally makes it semi-professional as you're not sitting there waiting for images to load.

what "E3 Storm"?
E3 is dead. it's been dead for a couple of years now. time to move on and stop pretending this 'event' is still relevant, having fallen just below 'random block party' in significance.
