Mainstream jumps on Xbox 360 price cut bandwagon

Microsoft still has not confirmed the Pro price drop, which is making us wonder. We're slowly gathering evidence, and it's still too early to say for sure, but there's a niggling suspicion that Microsoft is pulling a repeat of Sony's great PS3 clearance sale switcharoo from 2007, but that's just a rumor for now.

110% SAVINGS . OMFG , I"M GETTTING A 360 . (and a wii if it's ever put on a 50% off sale , it would only be like 100 dollars . )

Except the PS3 price drop wasn't a clearance sale in the sense implied. After 60GB stocks ran out, the 80GB replaced at $500. Microsoft might very well be planning to replace the current 360 Core model with something new, but that something new will also sell for $300.

I think thats what they're saying.

Is anyone else reminded of the launch of the Arcade SKU? It had shown up in ads, in inventory systems at retail stores, people had even photographed them on store shelves and purchased them before Microsoft finally got around to announcing it.

Still isn't cheaper than when I bought mine with a messed up KMart coupon for 20% off ($280) - that makes me feel good. :P

It's totally a clearance sale before they introduce the new version.... but that doesn't mean we know how much the new version will cost.
Dwag @ Jul 11th 2008 1:34PM
If what that memo said is true than the 60Gb should cost $300.I still think they should lower the Elite also cause obviously we all know that a 120GB HDD doesn't cost over $200 to make and I doubt it even cost over a to make. I hope they just drop both 360s by $50 and lower those accessories.

Isn't it about time for Pachter to, "predict" an Xbox 360 price cut, based on his, "data?"
linkbob @ Jul 11th 2008 6:30PM
HEY.. guys i work at gamestop and the price drop is def happening THIS SUNDAY
JETstream @ Jul 11th 2008 8:05PM
I just picked one up at the only Best Buy in my area that had one in stock. Confirmed that the price match could be done so I didn't have to hassle with it on Sunday...
BTW, they are not Refurbs... They are Falcons, unfortunately it didn't come with an HDMI cable, so I cannibalized mine from my PS3.
Now, I'm packing up my old"er" Xbox to get repaired and my brother can have that....

Almost as tempting as free slurpees at 7-eleven today!
