This is a very special XBLA in Brief ladies and gentlemen. Why? Because this week we take a look at Schizoid, which has a very special achievement in it. The Sploderific achievement, you see, is named after a word coined by our own Dustin Burg! Does that make us biased towards the game? Maybe, but it doesn't hurt that it's actually pretty good. Oh, we also take a look at Golf: Tee It Up!, which is a pretty decent game as well. Watch the latest episode and learn how you too can earn the badge of honor that is the Sploderific achievement.

outlaw golf was the only remotely entertaining golf game I've played, I second the desire for a new one.
It's always seemed to me that golf games (especially when played multiplayer) were designed for people who don't like video games much.... 30 seconds of button pressing interspersed between 5 minutes of animation/watching others press buttons for 30 seconds. They're like Metal Gear Solid games without any of the violence or drama that makes that series passably fun.
thanks Richard & X3F for reviewing these arcade games - normally i dont even bother with XBLA titles anymore, but Schizoid does look quite cool - probably end up getting up : )
finally you guys post the video. I thought I was gonna have to actually download and try the games you were taking so long. Lol in all seriousness tho, I like these videos because its fast then downloading and playing crappy games. So theres 3 steps for me to purchase an aracde game, first I watch video, if it looks sinteresting, I download. Then they need a super good trial to convince me its worth the purchase. To date, I have bought 3 XBLA games, and Ive seen/tried them all. So really, im a picky guy.
yeah on monday. No clue why joystiq and x3f have been so busy since the prvious monday. Does it really take 1 week to get ready for E3? You would think you guys have a booth or something with all the time you guys are taking to get ready.
Just wanted to give Dustin some props on getting the achievement in there. That is pretty dang awesome. I might buy the game now just because of that even though I played it last night alone and didn't get too into it. Co op might be fun though, plus I need that achievement!
Shizoid looks terrible to me. Another one of those boring directional shooters, except now you dont even shoot.
Surprisingly, I liked the look of that golf game. It reminded me alot of mario golf on n64, which was the last golf game I played (and only one I have ever enjoyed.) However at only 2 courses, I think ill pass. I could spend $10 and pick up a copy of mario golf on gmaecube which im sure has at least 6 or 7 courses.
I really wish they would put a little more effort into quntatiy of arcade games. Its like every arcade game, even if its fun, is designed to only last 2-3 hours before your bored out of your mind with it. I would rather go to the theater with a friend for $10 for 2-3 hours of entertainment. With arcade games, they really should start charging less ($5 for originalls or maybe even less) or start giving me at least 10-15 hours of gameplay.
Nowdays we're lucky if a $60 game gives 15 hours of gameplay. I think you're just expecting way too much from these titles for the price and their budgets... particularly when enjoyment of them is pretty subjective.
I've played Uno a handful of times while I know others have put in ridiculous amounts of games on it. How do you measure that time?
