I dont understand how people are still confused about goldeneye.

Banjo = Rare Ip, Rare game
Perfect dark = Rare Ip, Rare game
Goldeneye = Activision Ip, Rare game

Can we still not see the difference here? This changes nothing for Goldeneye.

In all honesty, I don't understand your logic, as it was Nintendo who stopped the release of Goldeneye on XBLA. Banjo and Perfect Dark are Rare's IPs so no one is stopping them from making NEW games in the series, but for some reason Nintendo can stop them from re-releasing their old games in the franchises. Can anyone explain?

Nintendo cant stop them. its rumoured that rare is working on pd64. The whole goldeneye game release was stoped by activision, not nintendo. But its been said that nintendos influence with activision called them to step forward and not allow the games release. MS supposedly even offered to let nintendo release goldeneye too for the virtual console but nintendo denied.

As long as activision owns the bond liscene, and nintendo wont agree to a deal, Goldeneye will never be released. If for some reason MS gets ahold of the liscene from activision, they wont give a rats ass about nintendo and release it. I dont see that happening tho

no, the rumor was nintendo stopped it not activision, and even though they are rare ip's, the original BK was published by nintendo giving them a say in it too... so yes this makes Goldeneye a bigger possibilty if they can work something out with nintendo

Nintendo own the designs of the levels so they do have a say. Both Nintendo and Activision have to give permission.

I was much more excited about this news than the new Banjo Kazooie game. I'm just curious about if/how they'll change Banjo playing the Gameboy in the file select screen.

FUCK YEAH!

I've been dying to play this game on my 50' uberscreen. The N64 version is so blurry that it's nigh unplayable, and I think that the memory battery is dying. I wonder if this game will be getting any upgrades? Surround sound and HD resolution are pretty much givens, but I hope that some of the textures could possibly be sharpened. High-res packs already exist on the ineternet (which add so much to the game's atmosphere), I wouldn't know why such a thing would be excluded. Also, I wonder what kind of achievements there are to unlock. All jiggies, notes, and beating the game are sure to be there, but that's only three. Any ideas?

This news was actually leaked on SomethingAwful a while back, by a guy who works on partner net. Rare still own all of their old IP's, with the exception of course, of the Donkey Kong games. The only problem with Goldeneye is that Activision has the Bond liscence.

Apparantly, they had a deal to release the game on the Arcade, and I'm sure by now everyone has seen the footage on Youtube of the multiplayer and enhanced graphics. Unfortunately, Nintendo stepped in, and essentially told Activision that if they release Goldeneye on the XBLA, they won't be allowed to release any further games for the Wii and DS.

Goodbye Goldeneye.
But it's great to hear Banjo is coming.

I'll be picking this up day 1 for sure. This is one of very few N64 games I can't get to work with emulating, plus they're gonna add achievements.

I can't wait :D

This is a scary one - loved the game when it was first released, but have a feeling that the "collect 'em all" gameplay might not hold up so well anymore. Still good news for 360 owners though!

Hopefully they don't release the original BK first, otherwise everybody will realize how much this new one is likely going to be nothing like it.

Excellent! Banjo-Kazooie and Goldeneye were my very first 64 games.

I will definitely be buying this. It'll be a perfect excuse to play it again, plus achievements should add a little something.

Meh, an alright Mario 64 clone.. though I doubt its aged well.

Rare should just get to work on making a sequal to blastcorps for XBLA... toss in a stage editor too please.

It's actually aged very, very well, if you ask me. The only thing that kind of hinders it at this point is how freakin' slow Banjo moves.

Banjo-Kazooie does hold up fairly well (check YouTube for playthrough videos if you don't believe me). The biggest obstacle is going in and removing the sly Nintendo references scattered about. Of course, this means they'd also have to remove the walking "N" logo that appears on startup.

Damn, this year probably has been one of the best years of game announcements. GoW2, RB2, MM9 and now XBLA Banjo-Kazooie. Here's hoping Rare announces Blast Corps for XBLA soon enough.

Better start saving for a point card especifically for this game!

This will only becoming out as a Bionic-Commando-Rearmed-style-retro-cash-grab to bring up support for the new game.

The only way we'll see Perfect Dark is if they make a new... wait a minute...
