Bungie.net countdown tells us to calm down, keep it clean

Bungie pulled a Blizzard!

This is Marathon. Just look at the splash screen. Remind you of anything? What about the terminals in Halo 3 that got you the Marathon Man achievement?

anyone else want a halo game -halo? I mean really that stupid ring in space that would destroy the universe ... lame .... granted, i love my 360 ... but the "halo" aspect of halo wasn't all that great .... it wasn't really about the halo anyway ... it was the flood, the covenant and Master Chief ..... and that second act .... completely lost me .... give us a game with a good story line and a logical progression .... one game, not three spread out over ten years .... please bungie, make it worth it .... but i am looking forward to halo warz .... the z makes it cooler .... and ensemble studios makes it the $hit .... (please take that as humor, not being a smart ass, I don't like being belittled by gaming blog enthusiasts ...)

There's a countdown timer now as well. About an hour and 15 left as of 4:25pm EST.

Come to think of it... If you look at the Wikipedia entry for Marathon, you will see this:

"...the player is kidnapped by Durandal, an Artificial Intelligence responsible for opening doors, kitchen maintenance and other monotonous functions aboard the ship."

All of the posts on the front page can be messages sent buy a kitchen maintenance AI.

Anyone pay attention to the timer on the site? Seems to line up with Nintendo's day at E3, not Microsoft or Sony's...

Halo Sunshine. When the Covenant drops a bunch of oil on planet Earth, Master Chief has to don a water jetpack and use it to help "keep it clean", fighting the covenant through platforming environments while using his water cannon to clean up the oil, and collecting Sprines, a special element to remove pollution and allow more sunshine to come through to Earth. Special segments of levels will remove his water backpack and he must enter a first person mode.

Fanboys don't get your panties in a wad! This is the first E3 in a long time that Bungie is a completely independent company, I would expect them to announce whatever game they are making next independent of Microsoft. That's not to say that the game won't be on 360, because in all likelihood it will. But announcing whatever it is they are cooking up on Wednesday after the Big 3 is exactly what they want to do.

I agree. Whatever experience Bungie has it is almost entirely on XBOX hardware. It would be a big deal for them to start having to learn other platform architects. Not to mention the fact that the XBOX 360 has the largest install base anyways.

The timer as mentioned above goes off at 2:07pm Wed (I'm in CST). The "Halo Wars" press conference at E3 is at 12pm PST on Wed.

FOr some reason the messages on the site made me think of a RACING GAME.

On Wednesday July 16 2:07:07 The site will reopen.
A new game will be announced for the PS3 and the 360 and it will be a Halo franchised game (in exchange for FF13).

About 10:00am EST on Wednesday? Curious...

yea didnt you knwo that halo was making a movie? go on youtube and you can watch the first 10 minutes its so cool.
