Fallout 3 to feature exclusive DLC on Xbox 360, Games for Windows

Looks like Fallout 3 is pulling a Grand Theft Auto IV. Wait, that sentence doesn't make any sense! The upcoming apocalyptic Bethesda sequel will come with an extra treat for Microsoft fans. Both the Xbox 360 and Games for Windows versions will feature DLC that's exclusive from any other version. (That's the PS3, if you couldn't figure it out.) "I just wanted to say how much we love XBLM ... we'll be doing substantial exclusive 360 and Games For Windows downloadable content," said executive producer Todd Howard at the Microsoft E3 keynote today.

I wrote this game off as Oblivion with a skin change when it was first announced, but I have to say that I am getting more excited about it as I see more about it. Hopefully it turns out to be a good one!

Probably not. If that were the case, everyone would just pirate it.

As PC gamers, we still have rights. And not having to deal with that GFW bullshit is part of it.

I've been meaning to ask this somewhere, but if I used my friends Xbox-live account for Games for Windows Gold, would I be in the clear? I wouldn't want to risk his account, but I don't see how they could call foul-play or offer retribution. Maybe we just wouldnt be able to sign on at the same time?

If it works anything like XBL, the account that you bought the items on would be the "owner," so you wouldn't have access to those items unless you were signed in as that user.

I'm not sure if your logging into his account on a different machine would affect anything, since Gamer ID's are supposed to be transportable, but (so far as I know) if he's logged in when you log in with his account, you'll log him out.

I could get it for my PC (which seems like the wisest choice, given all the Oblivion mods that were out there), my 360 OR my PS3, but I'm left deciding if I want the "whole experience" which might cost me an extra $30 on top of the $50 or $60 for the game, or the version that doesn't "get everything" but won't cost me later. Combine that indecision with the fact I'm tired of GTA well before the "amazing" DLC is out and I'm not even sure if DLC will matter for Fallout.

If the experience will be the same, ala Dead Space, I'm left deciding what platform to buy it on, which is easy because the experience is the same. They've got a sale.

With differing content and prices it's like buying mutually exclusive games; they're different, but once you own one, dropping money for the other is stupid. I, like quadraphonic, might just spend my money on something that involves less dicking around to get the "best" value.

:( Guess I'm not buying this game I have no problems with DLC but when it's DLC that isn't fairly distributed I have an issue with that company, it's basically just being unfair the the consumer especially if you prefer/only own a PS3...I understand when a Wii version gets the shaft or all consoles get the shaft compared to the PC version but not when 1 console gets the advantage over the other in the sense of DLC, I'm sure I stand alone in the rant but I hate this shit.

JFK.. I'm not under the impression I'm going to bankrupt a developer, but I think timed exclusives only fan needless console debates. I understand the business side and if a 360 game comes out sooner, or has extras that another platform does not it can boost sales, btu I think that Microsoft needs to have the understanding that it can push people away as well.

Personally speaking, though I'm a PS3 owner, I think the 360 is great and has a ton of great games I'd love to play. That said, I'm not a big fan of the business model, exclusives or Live and won't buy the system because of that. I'm sure I'm not alone and hopefully, overtime, we'll see a little more harmony with a returned focus on making great games for playing, rather than just for selling hardware.

Look at the pissing contest between Guitar Hero and Rock Band with the potential for instrument compatability there, but blocked by suits. It's not good for consumers and we're really what it should all be about.

Just my $0.02.

Absolutely, but cooperation can also be profitable, that's my point. If I could play guitar hero with my RB instruments, I'd buy it. Since I can't, I'll stick with the one game. I doubt I'm alone. One lost sale leads to another...

Thats exactly what Sony did back in the mid 90s with the Saturn. Kept signing games to long term deals so they dont come out on the other platform. RE and Tomb Raider ring a bell? O well it's been done before and will continue to happen. Dont hate because the more you hate, the more gray hair you grow and less sleep you get.

i own all 3 but always tend to buy things on the ps3 if i can, i guess i just like the controller better, and don't tend to download extras that cost ACTUAL MONEY anyway so unless theres some major bugs or framerate problems like there was with skate ill definately be getting the ps3 version.

I dont't really agree with this sort of thing anyway, unless it's been released later than the other version, e.g. Unreal 3, Bioshock etc.
