PlayStation Store Movies and TV video service hidden in PSP 4.05 update

Okay, so maybe PSP firmware 4.05 really did have "other features." A look at PlayStation.com's support page for firmware 4.05 reveals that the update adds "Support for PLAYSTATION®Store Movies and TV video service." Sony has been teasing its video service for quite some time, and it looks like they'll finally unveil all the dirty details tomorrow during their press conference. Will it be able to best Microsoft's video offerings through XBLM and Netflix?

Its a great thing but still not enough. They will really have to unveil some big time new exclusive titles that people want to even make a splash. Not just some copy cat BS like Microsoft. They need to release some sort of official external HDD that can be used in conjunction with the current HDD. I imagine regular people do not know you can use other types of HDD as storage. Between all the installs and content I have now my 60 Gb HDD is nearly all gone.

Unlike some OTHER consoles, the PS3 is about as open as a PC. You can plug in any USB drive for external storage, or swap out the internal drive if you wanna go that route (it's a standard 2.5" SATA drive).

Regarding the movie service: Only if they release non-DRM vids will I get excited. To me DRM = fail, so, as of now there are no video DL services worthy of attention yet.

Oh and Hashbrown, yes GoW3 I'm very excited about too. That's definitely one of the most awesome franchises of all time.

That and a new Team Ico game would cream my jeans. Hell, I'd go for Shadow of the Colossus with just a 7th gen graphical overhaul. Get on it, Team Ico!

MGS was a damn nice game. Warhawk's fun too. They have some nice exclusives still. We all give em crap (due to their unrelenting fanboys) but the PS3 is a solid device that I have had some fun with.

There are some exclusives that I thoroughly enjoy. Warhawk, as Nato mentioned, is a phenomenal game. Shooters like COD4, the various Battlefield games, Team Fortress 2, etc. are all great and all, but seriously I hold Warhawk above them all... it's just damn fun! It's like a sleeper hit for me.

There's plenty of crossplats to keep anyone busy who sticks to one console... and for me, I really like the hardware of the PS3 over the 360. All the crap that fanboys keep fighting over like in-game chat, accomplishments tied to a profile, blah blah blah... those are nice and all, but there are other aspects of consoles that are far more important to me.

There's no pot meeting kettle here. J...never had an xbox failure, and really don't consider my home in any danger from game consoles. Although MS has a lot of content providers for XBL Sony's presence in movies and TV shows should not be underestimated. And with the PSP ready to take that content on the road Sony has (at least) one feather in its cap that MS doesn't have.

Having said that, I think Microsoft's conference today was nothing short of spectacular and insanely solid. They covered everything from big games to big names and made grown men cry (both tears of joy for 360 owners and tears of pain for PS3 owners) with the FFXIII announcement.

Anything short of real-time footage of both God of War 3 and Team Ico's project will put Sony in the "you suck" category in comparison to the MS conference. And this is coming from a PS3 owner. I'm hoping Sony brings out some insanely huge guns tomorrow because they're going to need them.

Here's my wish: Apple and Sony announce the new iPSP with an enhanced graphics engine. Then they announced a new merger between the two companies to launch more Snapple devices.

PS4 with an Apple logo and interface from the gods.

Come on guys, your acting like FFXIII is a 360 exclusive or something, so what if 360 owners get to experience it too? The more the better, especially for SE..

And besides, we still have FF Versus XIII, I'm looking forward to that more than 13, and theres always that FFVII remake rumor =P

Everyone always knew FFXIII would be platform agnostic, especially you and your fellow XBOTs, Squeenix made no secrets about that. Um, a Halo game for 360 again nothing new. The singstar knock off, nothing new. A company making claims that it is better than it's competition and will beat them at their own game, nothing new. Oh, look out Fable 2 will change RPGs, they said the same about the 1st Fable.

holy crap, they are almost the same exact systems at this point. save for 1st party exclusives, almost everything gets ported to the other system. That's why I just picked one and became happy with it.

with xcock's "MAJOR" ending confrence,sony is gunna have to pull a few suprises out their asain asse's and make us have orgasmic excitement about burning our 360's and buying the ps3 :)
i have one and its perfect with all the games so far,they keep me satisfied for now.
i had 2 360's,and one i used in a bon fire and the other sold for some mula for ps3 game.
as far as the video service thingy.. they better make use of the ownage they have on big movie companys.
mere with apple please? that would mean ultimate pownage since apple hates microsoft anyways.

ITT fanboy rage. In a nutshell, I prefer Sony > Microsoft because I find Sony products IN GENERAL are superior to Microsoft's "Early released" shovelware. I'm not Anti-MS, nor Pro -PS, but A LOT of MS products are shyte when they first come out. EXAMPLE: XP, Vista, original 360's. All have one thing in common: People buy them even though it'll probably break, but when everything gets fixed (FW Update 3.xx lol) MS products are a joy to use. I'd rather get a PS3 because PS2 > XBox., and Sony has a longer history of pleasing gamers. They're the patient General compared to MS's rash, young private. One day MS will be a general, but Sony already is. Sony has more experience, and any RPGer will agree that EXP makes you stronger, amirite??
