Is anyone else having trouble getting it to run? I just get a black screen....I've left it for 5 minutes now but it's still there, and I've tried turning my xbox off/on.

I knew today and the next few days was going to absolutely suck at work. Too Human demo for starters, and who knows what else is going to get released while I'm at work...just reading about people enjoying/not enjoying the demos. :(

Oh well, I'll download it...eventually...

I'm playing the demo right now. There's really nothing that sticks out as being bad to me, other than the fact that moving your character gets wonky for a second when the camera changes angles. It's a fun Diablo clone with an interesting control scheme.

But people were lining up to get on the "Too Human sucks" bandwagon before this demo even came out. Game isn't ever going to get a fair shake.

Look people, there is a gray area between 'sweet' and 'sucks.' Sometimes games are good, but not great. You don't have to feel absolutely one way or the other.

I've not yet played the demo, but I think the range of impressions is silly. It just seems like people want to say this game sucks.

I'm sorry Marty but it seems that you're upset that people don't like this game. It's their opinion and who cares? As long as you like it(you should dl the demo yourself before you start bitching though), who the fuck cares if most people hate it?

I'm not upset about it at all - I just think people are trolling for another Haze to pick on, and that's pathetic.

The internet is full of all this 'pure win' or 'epic fail' bullshit, with nothing in between, and the real world just isn't that way.

Marty

I completely know where you're coming from. I'm kinda tired of that shit too. This was kinda the case with Ninja Gaiden II also. I love the game myself but all I heard was "oh it sux ballz" or "damn it's awesome" It's BS, theres no reason for anybody to say it genuinely sux. The reviewers should really slap themselves for docking so many points on the game just because of the camera.

It's hard because it has a lot of factors working against it:

- Long development cycle
- Lawsuit over Unreal 3 Engine
- IGN's criticism (which wasn't actually that bad)
- Denis Dyack

I'll admit it too, I had a lot of doubts about this game some months ago. But now that it's all kind of coming together, and I've learned a bit more about the nature of the game, I think it sounds pretty neat.

Hopefully I'm not completely turned off by the demo, but I'll go into it with an open mind, and if I don't like it, then I won't buy it. Simple as that.

Just like the election, it seems that people either have such a strong opinion that they need to share it with everyone, or they don't care enough about it to say or do anything.

Marty, I think the only historical troll here is you, so you had big hopes for this game and it's turning out to be not so great, big deal.

So spare the drama and aggro and go back to play it, if you enjoy it more power to you.

i just finished the demo and it did something that others haven't yet...

After I beat the last 'boss' in the demo, I wanted to continue playing...

I thought it was just 'ok' until I realized that I can change my armor and weapons. The control scheme is pretty different and i still have to get used to it, but I will and I think I'm going to like this game based off the demo.

Being able to shoot two bad guys at once is pretty cool, especially if you or they are in the air as well.

I have to say, I quite like the game. Although I can't say I had any expectations going in, I've been completely ignoring the game. The story's pretty neat, it's a very interesting take on Norse mythology. The gameplay is pretty repetitive, but I think that's to be expected in a game like this.

In my opinion, if you like things like Dynasty Warriors and Diablo, you should enjoy this. I personally found it a lot more interesting than Diablo II, using the analogue stick to perform swipes with the sword, and moving around the angles of the guns, is surprisngly satasfying.

The thing that kills it for me, is the lack of offline multiplayer. I probably would have absoloutely loved this, playing through with a friend, but I don't think it's something I'll bother with myself. But definitely not deserving of this level of hate.

Times like these I'm glad I work in a place filled with 360 kiosks. I've really been anticipating this game, and am willing to forgive a lot to enjoy it. But I happen to like dungeon crawlers and Norse mythology, so I think it's going to be a lock for me.

I really enjoyed it!

I admit I'd like the camera system to be tweaked but once I got used to the combat system it was pretty sweet. The skill tree is cool as well.

I don't understand though how we keep changing worlds for the cutscenes, is Baldur walking three feet into a cave and then returning to report or what?

Baldur? Baldur? BAAAAAAAAALDDUUUUUUUUUUR!!!! That's what i felt like watching those cutscenes. For a demo, i spent a lot of time not playing. Spoiler alert: I suck. I prefer to button-mash rather than learn combos, because i can't do them. So the combat system in this game was indecipherable to me. Had no clue what i was doing, I might as well have been playing Mario Party the way I was spinning the thumbstick. I would manage to get enemies in the air, but when I jumped to finish them off, I ended up hitting a different enemy. If there is going to be 15-20 enemies, using the thumbstick to target one is difficult to me. I love the thought of the diablo items, but I got some sort of rifle that even though it said it was stronger than my starting pistols, I couldn't figure out how. All it did was draw a red line, like a laser sight, and then pressing the other button launched a grenade of some sort. I don't remember picking up grenades...

Metacritic prediction: 78

The demo is unimpressive. Textures are average, camera and controls are counter-intuitive, and I have to admit... the melee animations are on the bad side. Attention to detail doesn't seem present here. Just from the demo, there were many times that I couldn't look where I wanted and lock on to what I wanted to shoot. As someone that wanted this to be good, I'm pretty disappointed.

Ok well I just got done with the demo and overall I really liked it! I'm thinking that as was stated earlier it looks like it's gonna be a love it or hate it sort of thing here.

And I can understand that this game isn't gonna be for everyone. I have been looking forward to this demo for a lone time now. I've seen most of the trailers and interviews and everything so I had a pretty good idea of what I was getting into. And actually had pretty big hopes for the game and because of that I was a little worried that my expectations were too high and that I'd think it was gonna suck.

There's a definite learning curve with this game as the controls are very unique, or at least, I've never played a game that was controlled like this before. But I feel that it's quite refreshing actually! And I think that because of not needing to mash the hell outa the buttons that I'll be able to keep on playing for much longer without my hand cramping up lol! But the camera is gonna take some getting used to to say the least.

I guess all I can say is, try it with an open mind and you might be surprised! I personally can't wait till this game comes out! Was disappointed though that you could only try one class in the demo but I'm really looking forward to maxing out at least one of each class next month.. Though that might be a bit optimistic of me.. we'll see.

I got through about 35 minutes of the demo before I quit. I even skipped one of the cut scenes because it was just...bad. The graphics are decent, the animations are bad, environment is uninteresting (It's a BIG METAL CAVE THING and this goes on FOREVER, cool right?) The combat sucks. I like the idea of using the right thumbstick, unfortunately, they didn't nail the execution. It would be nice if you swung your sword where you moved the right stick, unfortunately, it doesn't. They made it complex by having you hold it in a direction, or tap it, or rotate it, but it does not work right and you end up constantly attacking enemies you didn't want to, most of the time ones you didn't even SEE.

This looks like another "Good concept poor execution" kind of game. I actually bought Dark Sector because I LIKED THE CONCEPT, and for once I didn't want to trust reviews, I ended up getting the sub-par game I was warned about. It looks like I'll get more of the same if I buy this. Good idea, but terrible demo, lets hope they fix this.

Well... I have been neither a fanboy, nor a critic of this game.... I have just been waiting patiently based on the premise of this game. [Norse Mythology + Sci-fi (with lasers!)].

And I must say I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun I had. Its not the best game ever and it most certainly is not the worst... but for the most part I think it delivers what it says it would.

The controls are easy to use, but hard to master... Aerial combat is particularly tricky [and fairly disappointing sometimes, with uber weapons that kill enemies on the way up anyway]... you can get by using basic controls... but the real challenge is in learning and applying the "advanced combat"... and it makes it much more fun...

And the loot... there is a ton... I've been through twice and for the most part there were very few of the same armor/weapons... [certain high level bosses will drop specific weapons/armor]... I pretty much stopped after every battle to see what goodies I received... [one was a schematic to create a helm that was pretty badass]...

It certainly wasn't like anything I've played before... It didn't amaze me, and it didn't bore me.... it was just.... fun.

I can only imagine what co-op has in store...

Just finished the demo. Yea, the camera sucks. In Iso it's not too terrible, but does get stuck on walls and pillars sometimes. I wish the center camera button, didn't just flash to the center, and the camera actually rotated instead. It's annoying. Graphics were ok, cutscenes could definitely used some more polish. (And maybe the voice acting too.) I did enjoy the combat though, but I always enjoy action RPGs. The stick seems perfect for range weapons, but I don't see the benefit during melee. From what I could tell, nice skill and equipment options. If the story comes out to be above average, it'll be a buy for me. But with all the games coming out, I'd put it off for a while. And maybe by then I could find it around $40 on sale, which right now, seems like the right spot for me.

This was the first demo on the Xbox360 where when it cut to the "Coming soon!" part, I raised my fist in frustration ... I WANTED MORE! I had little-to-no interest before the gameplay videos popped up a month or so ago, but I now know my next Xbox purchase. Come on August 19th ... until then, I plan on playing the demo through a couple more times to try the other "talent tree" specs.

combat is very fast-paced. flick-style combat is new to me and it took me playing through my second time to really feel like i had a good handle on the controls. overall i'd say the demo was pretty fun and i would look forward to some multiplayer.
graphics are only okay, to be sure, and the design is pretty bland, borrowing from many games that would now be considered out of date, but the customization format reminds me a lot of kotor, and i really like that. lots of different loot for different playstyles.

just try it first and make your own decision, try not to form any pre-conceived ideas of what it should or shouldn't be by the rest of us net-nerds ;) you might like it.

There seem to be a lot of people complaining about the graphics and a problem with the camera. The graphics are not horrible nor are they excellent. So many people are used to graphics in games like Gears of War, Halo, and Crysis that they think any other game has shit graphics. The camera is actually easy to use and if you complain about it being hard then you just suck at games and using the controller. Using the right analog stick to fight isnt a huge impact on the gameplay. It took a mere 3 minutes to get used to the controls. If people think im some sort of fanboy im not. I just like the game. Im a FPS, RTS, TPS, Action, RPG player so i play a wide variety of games. Now if you dont like RPG games then you shouldnt bother getting it. Also if your gonna hate the game just because you hate Denis, then thats fucked up and your an idiot.

You can try all classes on the demo, you just have to go offline, then change the clock to another year(2010). that opens up Berserker and Commando. To be able to use Bio-engineer and the Defender you have to Tap A really fast and then press to the left or the right really quickly. It might take a while but it works.

A lot of people are gonna read all these comments and not even bother to play the game just because some people hate it. If you go into the demo already knowing your gonna hate it and not giving it a chance why bother? Im just saying try the demo with an "open-mind" like a lot of people have said then speak.

I knew from the beginning this game wasnt gonna be for everyone. Its a whole entire category of game that is new to everyone. It does have certain elements from certain games but it is so different from any other game that its hard to make it perfect 10/10 like everyone wants it to be. I personally liked the game and i ignored peoples comments here about it so that i could actually appreciate the game.

This demo is awesome. Camera is hard to get used to, but I like the concept, and I like the right stick system. It took me like 10 minutes to realize that the game wasn't bugged, and that it was supposed to attack, not move the camera. Once that was done, I played again. I also really like the loot system, the random loot enhanced with random powers.
