The middle of the biggest convention in the industry probably isn't the best time to trumpet some record earnings, but the fiscal calendar waits for no convention, as they say. Activision's first quarter in fiscal '09 (and their last quarter before officially becoming Activision Blizzard) was the best non-holiday quarter in the company's history, with revenues coming in at a whopping $650 million (well above the projections $500 million).
Unsurprisingly, the quarter's Guitar Heroes (both On Tour and Aerosmith) contributed a lot to the bottom line. More surprisingly, the Kung Fu Panda game also contributed a fair share, representing as Activision's largest Dreamworks-associated game to date. Now that's one large panda!

That's like 12 euro or something. I think I will start hating on casual game developers from now on.

I guess once you kill EA, you become EA.

Indeed my fellow joystiq-er, indeed.
It really does upset me when I see a douchebag company like this milking the crap out of one of my former favorite franchise. I mean seriously, Guitar hero DS? That just screams blasphemy! It's so awkward to use and don't that forget you look like an asshole when playing it in public. It's bad enough that were playing tiny plastic guitars in our living rooms. Playing it on the DS makes it, for lack of a better word, stupid.

If they do it well, who cares? EA repeats franchises in shitty form and quality.
