BioShock PS3 features 'exclusive' DLC scenarios

The BioShock DLC takes place in arena-type levels designed to look like Rapture. The scenario we saw involved a little sister stuck atop a Ferris wheel -- she needs to be rescued! The first thing that has to be done: Hit the control box with the shotgun's electric buck, causing the wheel to move a little. To move it a little more requires finding a booby-trapped room featuring an electric crossbow inside a safe. Shoot the control box with the crossbow and cut the line to give it a charge, and the wheel moves a little more. Every electric item found will move the wheel a little more until the Little Sister is saved. No other scenarios were discussed.

Save? I killed every little sister I saw while playing on the 360. Whoops.
RobLink (Alex Kidd incarnate) @ Jul 15th 2008 6:20PM
You monster.
d1srupt0r @ Jul 15th 2008 6:27PM
(in the creepiest little sister voice).....NO NO, NO NO NO !!
peteyH @ Jul 15th 2008 6:53PM
I am on the level where I have to become a Big Daddy. Am I close to the end of the game?
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Jul 15th 2008 6:55PM
You monster!!
Saving them gets you the better ending anyways.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Jul 15th 2008 6:18PM
Screw exclusive DLC. It's par for the course now. MS tries to get major play from it, now Sony too. and Activision seems to be working it harder than anyone.
How about just delivering good games to customers who want to buy them instead of engaging in shenanigans?
RobLink (Alex Kidd incarnate) @ Jul 15th 2008 6:21PM
Meant for Obie.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Jul 15th 2008 6:56PM
Wait what? I so replied to Obie. The Hell happened?
Dr. @ Jul 15th 2008 6:21PM
That certainly doesn't sound like puzzle gameplay. That sounds like "find all the different coloured keys before the door will open." We did that in Doom.
Marty @ Jul 15th 2008 6:25PM
Exclusive content matters for games that aren't over a year old. This is a silly stab in the dark, and if Sony spent any money on it, they should try to get it back. They're obviously spending on the wrong things.
Heh @ Jul 15th 2008 7:46PM
Did Sony themselves downplay the importance of Exclusive Downloadable content? lol@them
Plus, I'm sure the PC version, at the least, will get this eventually.
Heh @ Jul 15th 2008 7:46PM
didn't*
RC @ Jul 16th 2008 2:34PM
This is probably the funniest thing in this thread because GTA 4 is gonna be at least 6 months old when it gets any exclusive content and probably a year or more old when the second batch shows up. But old Marty will be splooging all over that since it's 360 content. Such a sad little fanboy.
Jayslacks @ Jul 15th 2008 6:27PM
That explains the five different developers working on the project right now.
nostromer @ Jul 15th 2008 6:29PM
They get bioshock, We get FFXIII. Fair trade.
Darth Abe @ Jul 15th 2008 6:34PM
lol...
Snowblind @ Jul 15th 2008 6:45PM
Was that sarcasm? I personally didn't enjoy Bioshock all that much, but even if I did, I'd find it hard to believe you could compare one single game, to what's arguably the biggest videogame series of all time.
Slayer @ Jul 15th 2008 6:53PM
@nostromer
Too bad more people don't see the way you do. Sony fanboys are acting like it's the end of the world even though they still get the play the game in the end.
Johnny Lasley @ Jul 15th 2008 7:58PM
No...give me Mass Effect. I want that more than I want FFXIII anyways.
arrrgh @ Jul 15th 2008 10:48PM
+! on mass effect
Haggard @ Aug 19th 2008 1:57PM
Get a PC. Then you can play the best of both worlds cause neither console is competing with it.
Jeffrey @ Jul 15th 2008 7:52PM
Doesn't sound very interesting.
Residentevil72501 @ Jul 15th 2008 6:37PM
yeah i have bioshock on 360 and im buying it again on PS3 just because. Its a hellaciously good game :)
peteH @ Jul 15th 2008 6:54PM
Then you are dumb.
dark_inchworm @ Jul 16th 2008 9:51AM
... I gave you an upvote, just because.
343 Guilty Fart @ Jul 15th 2008 6:40PM
The DLC will be accessible through a section on the main men? Do these men come with the game?
Sora @ Jul 15th 2008 6:56PM
If so, I'd rather this game come with women.
pirahna @ Jul 15th 2008 6:46PM
This is retarded. Remind me to wait 2 years before I buy any games from now on to make sure I don't get screwed out of content. Way to shoot your PC supporters in the foot 2k, way to go.
Reuben @ Jul 15th 2008 6:48PM
I WAS excited at the prospect of downloadable content for Bioshock UNTIL I read this article. I'm not interested in little puzzle scenarios. Frankly, I was expecting more areas to the main game or another chapter to the story.
Yeah, I'd say I'm disappointed.
Red Leader @ Jul 15th 2008 6:49PM
My only complaint with the 360 Bioshock was that there was no penalty for dying, which made it seem kinda pointless if you ask me. I realize there was a DLC to fix that, but I don't have the money to get internet on the 360. Will that particular feature be int the PS3 version?
Anticrawl @ Jul 15th 2008 7:12PM
Bioshock PS3 features "exclusive" DLC chores... I mean scenarios.
*has flashbacks to childhood*
"Mooommmmm! Can I stop playing Bioshock now and do homework? I promise I won't leave my wet towels on the bathroom floor anymore!"
Anticrawl @ Jul 15th 2008 7:14PM
"Mom can I eat my vegetables because shooting this gun in this video game is just cruel."
juju187 @ Jul 15th 2008 7:28PM
***Proceeds to beat you with the extension cord
Anticrawl @ Jul 15th 2008 7:51PM
You're upset because I'm able to form my own opinion rather than base it on the praise of advertisement funded reviews? People are sheep, lemmings, take your pick of animal. No doubt 90 percent of the people who praise this game didn't form their own opinion based on playing the game.
The game is a chore, the gunplay is appalling, the enemies are generic and did I mention it was a chore to play? Sorry I'm just bitter I spent $39.99 at CompUSA on a Sunday sale a week after it released on a digital version of everything I don't want to be doing. I just didn't find a damn thing fun about the game.
So please excuse me if I don't share your obsession for this sub-par shooter.
Anticrawl @ Jul 15th 2008 8:01PM
Not to say some people didn't genuinely love the game, I'm sure there are quite a few. I also think it was just their rotation in the spotlight, and that the actual game wasn't deserving of the praise and admiration it received. In any case I'm done watching House for today, so I'm going to go spend some quality time with a video game of my choice.
bm @ Jul 16th 2008 4:51AM
Bioshock was a mindless shooter with as much depth as Doom.
Oh, wait. Doom had more than 2 enemy types.
dark_inchworm @ Jul 16th 2008 9:50AM
...dude, I think he was trying to play the part of Mom.
Granted, that guy usually is a douche.
BigD145 @ Jul 15th 2008 7:18PM
Gimmick.
LaughingTarget @ Jul 15th 2008 7:44PM
Save a Little Sister from the top of a ferris wheel? They can't even get their own mythos straight. Just blow her off the top, the damned things are immortal.

For such a acclaimed game I do not know why people are brushing this off. (Xbots)
Better Graphics and Exclusive DL!!.... I will have to pick this up.
Anticrawl @ Jul 15th 2008 8:04PM
Xbots? What an endearing term. If you've ever been around Joystiq you'd know I've always had a foul taste in my mouth from the time I spent with this shallow game. The game isn't good; don't waste your money on it. This is from one gamer to another, an honest and objective "opinion." Funny, objective opinion has to be some sort of oxymoron.
Fire @ Jul 26th 2008 12:32PM
The graphics are not improved in any way. It's a port.
Miguel @ Jul 15th 2008 8:14PM
I find Bioshock for FF a fair enough trade. Ive always wanted Bioshock...FFXIII not so much.
Lavat @ Jul 15th 2008 8:25PM
@AntiCrawl
Now it just looks like you are imposing yourself as a Xbot. Good game or bad game is subjective. I remember playing it on the Xbox so I can sure as say this will be a bit better bargain to get it on the Ps3.
And remember...Appreciate Intellectual Story Line like MGS4 and Assassins Creed.
Anticrawl @ Jul 15th 2008 9:05PM
I'm not a fan of any system; they all have their positives and negatives. What I am a fan of is the games and the quality of said games. You just can't handle the fact that one person doesn't grovel at the feet of a mediocre game like Bioshock. Sure the story was somewhat interesting, but games are supposed to be a bit heavier on the interactive entertainment. If you want a great story without the joy of interaction read a book, I read books, they can be quite pleasant. The game was a terrible game, and that is my honest opinion. I've never stated it as fact; perhaps you're the one who should read more.
nyright @ Sep 11th 2008 8:16AM
You're not honestly implying Assassins Creed or MGS4 have intellectual plots, are you?
Because really, neither of those games dabble remotely into the game of making you or anyone else playing them think about what the hell is going on.
Well, maybe MGS4, but that's only because the writing was convoluted as hell.
