I bought the original one. It kept my xbox relatively cool. However, around that time there were many reports of the power port melting or burning. Effectively destroying the Xbox and the intercooler. I took mine off and it's been sitting in a drawer ever since.

They released the Intercooler EX after that, which had a metal plug for the power port. That was supposed to keep it from melting and burning.

Hopefully they got that stuff sorted out, because otherwise it was a really cool little addition.

Does anyone know if the Intercooler voids the warranty on your 360?

On a side note, I do recall hearing that if you put an intercooler on your 360, it voids the warrenty. Just wanted to let you guys know, for those of you that still have your 360 covered.

the only way it can void your varranty is if you tell MS when asked by MS Customer Services.

if the guy on the phone asks if you have used an aftermarket cooler, just say NO. simple.

I'm getting a 360 soon (already have a PS3) so might pick up the intercooler since it now has its own power supply.

I have to say though I'm really wondering if the newer 360s really need the intercooler, cause the new heatsink should have done away with any overheating issues.

I feel like the cooler having its own power adapter is kind of a step backwards. As if I didn't have enough extraneous cords taking up outlets as it is, let's add another!

However, I do like that it will continue to cool even after the Xbox has been shut down.

i have got to get me one of these - i have a Core SKU & really need an intercooler as the box gets really hot even after a few minutes at the dashboard.

i currently have one with a temp sensor, but the continuous cooling after the console has been shut down is the featuse i've always wanted.

& two fans inline with the consoles original fans is the way to go - that way no air flow can be blocked.

I really don't think there's any evidence showing this thing is necessary. Just keep your 360 somewhere where there's room behind it to vent out the extra heat and you should be fine.

I have the Intercooler EX.
I bought it after getting my 1st RROD. Last October.
Have not had one since. Knock on wood.
I noticed my 360 runs considerably cooler.
When you pop out your Discs they are no longer hot.

Too bad Nyko intercoolers are the leading cause of melting consoles and voided warranties.

so how much is Kyko paying X3F for that insanely large picture? I've never seen a picture that big on this site.

First: The original cooler was loud, big, and yes it actually gave my xbox 360 the "red ring of death" thanks nyko!

Second: No, does any cooler void the warranty. Microsoft gave me a new one after the cooler destroyed my first.

So, I'd kinda read some reviews first before anyone buys the new one.
