Nigeria: SSBB: 0731-6347-2110 @ Jul 15th 2008 4:55PM
I voted for Nintendo, used ccleaner, then voted for them again. I still want to believe.
josh @ Jul 16th 2008 2:58PM
then see the freakin x-files movie :D
Paul (PSN: heypaul) @ Jul 15th 2008 5:20PM
Maybe I should delete my cookies and vote for Sony again...and again...and AGAIN! Then Final Fantasy XIII will be exclusive once more!
Translation: You are a tard.
Mr.ESC @ Jul 15th 2008 7:58PM
Paul,I lol'd +1
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread) @ Jul 16th 2008 1:18AM
lol i would plus you again Paul but it seems you have pluses to spare.
4MyFriends @ Jul 16th 2008 10:20AM
Heaven forbid people don't like shooters that Sony and Microsoft mostly showed
Mr.ESC @ Jul 15th 2008 4:49PM
Who the hell voted for Nintendo?
Fernando?
Do we need this? I think it is quite obvious.
xFenixKnightx @ Jul 15th 2008 4:53PM
LMAO!! LMAO indeed! +1
Jakka @ Jul 15th 2008 4:54PM
FDF to the rescue! Everybody let's do a Spartacus!
I voted for Nintendo.
Stevo @ Jul 15th 2008 4:54PM
This isn't even close.
MS > Sony >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Nintendo
Sora @ Jul 15th 2008 4:57PM
Nah, even Fernando would vote for Microsoft...We're dealing with someone more.....softcore....But who?
SKI @ Jul 15th 2008 5:00PM
Next year Nintendo will dominate, after the M+ launches.
BananaBoat @ Jul 15th 2008 5:01PM
It wasn't me. Honest
Microsoft > Sony > NintenDOH!!!!
where is my Zelda? Miyamoto? I thought I could trust you man...I thought I could trust you...
Jakka @ Jul 15th 2008 5:03PM
I voted for Nintendo.(Fernardo Defence Force, I don't see the goddamn Spartacus! Make one now!)
Spartacus @ Jul 15th 2008 5:05PM
Jakka,
What the heck is "let's do a Spartacus" supposed to mean?
MarMar @ Jul 15th 2008 5:27PM
When lawrence olivier a.k.a. gracchus, a roman trimuvir, asked the captured roman slaves to surrender the slave-leader kirk douglas a.k.a. spartacus the gladiator, his defiant soldiers all stood right as he was about to turn himself in and all proclaimed "I am Spartacus!" to protect their hero. the romans then crucified them all along the road to rome. the last part happened in real life -- not sure about the "I am spartacus!" incident, though.
Anticrawl @ Jul 15th 2008 5:28PM
Fernando voted Microsoft.
No person in their right mind (except rabid Animal Crossing fans) would vote for Nintendo or Sony. Microsoft stole the show, Sony's conference wasn't anything good or bad for me, but Nintendo almost made me cry.
MarMar @ Jul 15th 2008 5:37PM
a lot of girls -- 50%+ of the earth's population -- would probably go with nintendo. i never saw my g/f more excited than when i told her wii sports 2, kirby ds, another pokemon, the cooking thing, and ani crossing were coming soon. or well im lying, actually, she was more excited when her dad got her a puppy a couple years ago :-| . but still... banjo, viva pinata, avatars, etc. just made her roll her eyes -- and she's a part of the audience that microsoft is exactly trying to impress, you see.
finaldarklord @ Jul 15th 2008 5:40PM
I've said this over and over until I'm blue in the face, not a one of them did well enough that I can warrant calling any of them the "best" of E3.
Nintendo didn't have jack shit.
MS only had an announcement of a PS3 port and some sweet trailers for multi-plat games.
Sony had MAG, Resistance 2 and GoW3, but the whole thing rang hollow because everyone was expecting a counter to MS's FF13 port.
The whole thing just stinks. And much like when the polls open for our next Prez, I won't be voting.
Paul (PSN: heypaul) @ Jul 15th 2008 5:44PM
Unfortunately, of that 50%+, a disproportionately low percentage actually cares about, or cares to spend money on gaming. It's a lot like if at the latest Louis Vuitton handbag show, they unveiled a new Green Bay Packers Cheesehead Special Edition strapless.
Fernando Rocker @ Jul 15th 2008 6:01PM
Indeed... I voted Microsoft.
Obie @ Jul 15th 2008 6:03PM
Poor Fernando, I can be pretty defensive of Nintendo...but their showing this year was very poor.
Hotaru99 @ Jul 15th 2008 6:13PM
Coming from a girl gamer, I voted MS hands down. I nearly dumped my chair over cheering for FFXIII yesterday.
Foetoid @ Jul 15th 2008 6:25PM
Honestly, i voted for Nintendo, only for the terrific 1-to-1 sword fighting on Wii Sports 2. Without that i would have voted them down.
Peter R. @ Jul 15th 2008 7:01PM
Hah Nintendo, what a waste of space in the E3 08 coverage. They come to one of the biggest gaming events of the year and all they bring to the table is a bunch of shallow Mii encrusted games(feeding the damn casual masses once more), a gimmicky snowboarding game, Animal Crossing, and what is sure to be a watered-down version of GTA on the DS. Hopefully they redeem themselves at TGS 08, cause my enthusiasm to buy future Wii games is diminished enough already.
On the brighter, better side of things Sony and MS both had good a showing. Sony's GOW3 and Resistance 2 caught my attention pretty well, but MS still owned anyway. Fable 2, Fallout 3, and Gears Of War 2, heck they even had release dates, MS wins for now.
One thing that was weird though, FFXIII on the 360 >_> wtf. I know this might sound stupid to some of you but will the hardcore Xbox fans really want that, I mean the xbox hasn't really been known for its rpg/jrpg supply. FF fans probably already opted out for a PS3(Playstation is the system for RPGs). Well I guess its about time MS shows rpgs some love if they want to sell in Japan...oh wait...FFXII isn't coming out on 360 in Japan is it, another wtf moment. Well for those who only own a 360, I guess this will be a nice change of pace from the usual, if they actually buy FFXIII that is.
TheOverlord#2 can has Animals Crossing? @ Jul 15th 2008 7:14PM
I voted for Microsoft. I want 360 badly, though those blatently copied "Avatars" really aren't needed.
@Peter R.
Nintendo doesn't go to TGS...they have their own mini-event to make up for it though which I think is what you meant.
Autopsy15 @ Jul 15th 2008 9:15PM
I voted for Sony because most of the jokes Jack Trenton told were actually FUNNY. (Lookin at you Nintendo woman whose name I can't recall but repeatedly mentioned that she broke her wrist until everyone in the crowd wanted to break it again.)
Levi @ Jul 15th 2008 9:25PM
I AM SPARTACUS!!!!!
Psyche, I voted for MS.
4MyFriends @ Jul 15th 2008 9:29PM
I voted for Nintendo and rated everyone down, just to spite ESC.
Superstar90 @ Jul 16th 2008 12:08AM
@ Autopsy
One of Jack Tretton's jokes was in very poor taste. The one about some other guy being dead while Jack Tretton was still alive... the audience actually booed.
Tiptup300 @ Jul 16th 2008 12:35AM
Okay, I think theres a problem with the system.
I clicked Microsoft (obviously), then right after clicking submit, somehow nintendo just got selected... is this a joke?
Duke @ Jul 16th 2008 10:17AM
Peter said " I know this might sound stupid to some of you but will the hardcore Xbox fans really want that, I mean the xbox hasn't really been known for its rpg/jrpg supply." in regard to FF13 on the 360.
Let me answer by saying that yes that question sounds stupid. The game is a major coup and anticipated by many. If there are people who don't want to play it, these "hardcore" folks you mentioned, then how the hell does it adversely impact them for the game to come to the 360? It doesn't. Also, you seriously underestimate the strength of rpg's on the 360 already. (I won’t do the list war we have done so many times before.)
MS pulled a major upset this year with the new interface and FF13, both will make many people happy, and there is no reason 360 owners should be unhappy about a major franchise opened to them. If they don't want an RPG then they don't have to buy it. Yet many people would buy a system for a game like FF, and now they have a choice of systems.
Regarding the show, in the end, I vote MS>Sony>Nintendo.
Sony has me interested in MAG and Little Big Planet, but largely uninterested in their other show announcements. The movie service really isn't a mind blower, as MS has been doing it for a long time now and beat them to the punch further with adding Netflix.
Nintendo's was flat out depressing. Other than the Animal Farm announcement, there was nothing to be excited over. A mic!? I can't believe they announce a mic this far into gaming as if its something new and exciting. Actually, I felt insulted by Nintendo who seemed to say we were all a bunch of stupid bastards who would lap up whatever they toss our way.
Draev @ Jul 19th 2008 4:23AM
I voted for Microsoft. Best showing with the new Xbox live and Fable 2 and Gears 2. Although the Mii's erhem i mean avatars were really uninspired. Kudos to MS for making great casual games to support their awesome hardcore titles. I love Nintendo to death but their conference was quite lacking. ALthough motion plus is going to allow the sword fight starved, lightsaber wanting, Real FPS needing game world a great advancement in the way games are played. Much to the the horror im sure of the "wheres the gimmick now you N haters". I am tired of Sony frankly dragging their feet with the PS3, they hype so many things leaving us all feeling cheated upon a games release... (Lair anyone?). MAG looks spectacular and Little Big Planet has had me waiting for some while so what else have you got SCEA? Pull a MS and copy the big N if that will get more people flocking to Sony once more(SOny Fanboys do not count) I guess one step at a time and I think that they need to work on getting Home released already. Nintendo haters, you can QQ all you want, Nintendo is kicking everyone's ass with their casual system. Outselling both Sony and MS and poised to already surpass MS total console's sold lead in a few months (Even with the 1 year lead). You can all stop pretending your hardcore with your Nintendo is kiddy thinking because you were all kids once too (well with the comments some of you make you still are). They are innovating beyond the hardcore. Casual gamers make up about three times as much as the hardcore in the gaming world and nintendo is wise to appeal to them. I love my hardcore games, but relaxing with a simple party game with friends always reminds me just how fun games really are. Hopefully the narrow minded, self proclaimed "hardcore gamers", grow up and realize that gaming isn't just about blood and graphics but fun and exploring a world of entertainment that really detracts from the drudgery of the real world.
MS wins E3, Nintendo 2nd, and Sony 3rd : in this writers opinion anyhow.
Jody Anthony (gamertag and psn: JodyAnthony) @ Jul 15th 2008 4:49PM
even as a die-hard nintendo fanboy, i gotta give it to microsoft
arrrgh @ Jul 15th 2008 4:59PM
+1 there.
good time to have a 360!!!!!
might be a decent time to get a ps3 once they hit up that price drop ;)
mr mobius @ Jul 15th 2008 6:26PM
Nintendo didn't do much for this year except admit what was know for years - another Zelda is in the works, and that Wii Music exists.
Where was the storage fix? Zelda trailer? Pikmin? F Zero? WiiWare? Wave Race (Wii Sports only made it painful with it's version)?
Will there be some mention of World of Goo over the week? What about something about a new Paper Mario or a Mario sports game? What about Mario for DS as been a long time now since the first one.
cristian @ Jul 15th 2008 4:49PM
None? Where is that option?
Jason Axelrod @ Jul 15th 2008 4:50PM
I think all three shows were terrible... But Sony was the least terrible of them all. While Microsoft was all third-party offerrings (most of them multiplatform), Sony had major emphasis on first-party titles.
coyurtney @ Jul 15th 2008 4:57PM
wow, it's like you seen a whole different conference then I did.
arrrgh @ Jul 15th 2008 5:00PM
no he was sleeping
Knight Marquise @ Jul 15th 2008 5:06PM
Wow. MS smoked with their keynote this year, and the FFXIII was the megaton. Nintendos was quite boring, and Sony, while unremarkable, it wasn't bad & did show off how cool LBP is shaping up to be...who knows, perhaps even a system seller.
I am also wondering what kind of announcement Bungie is making tomorrow.
Zoesch @ Jul 15th 2008 5:27PM
I posted this on another thread but it's worth reposting.
Microsoft smoked it by announcing a game also available on another platform?
Awesome logic.
So far E3==meh of the meh, the only thing that got me excited were the PSP announcements. The Microsoft conference was boring save for the gamefueled cheetos-powered drama of FFXIII, the same game you're still not buying despite it being announced for the 360 and that you can still buy for the PS3. Nintendo? Better not talk about it. Sony? Slightly interesting with the Video service (See Microsoft? DRM is bad, think how many Zunes you didn't sell because both Sony and Apple let you download in the living room and move to the portable device) and the PSP games, MAG? Not into massive online games, this is no exception. I don't have the time.
If anyone is genuinely excited about Lips or the new Miiboard, congratulations. Anyone excited about Wii Sports Resort need to be shot. And we had seen it all from the Sony conference before, so yawn.
Knight Marquise @ Jul 15th 2008 5:39PM
Zoesch...
"FFXIII, the same game you're still not buying despite it being announced for the 360 and that you can still buy for the PS3"
Excuse me? That game alone warrented at least 1 PS3 purchase, most likely 2 for me and my daughter. I am a FF "fanboy". I always intended to purchase the PS3 for that game and have been up front about that as soon as it was announced exclusive for the PS3.
Perhaps you should take your sour grapes somewhere else. Anyways I stated MS conference was the most remarkable, the FFXIII was simply the icing on the cake. They had playable demos of what they were showing, and in my mind, playable demos > promises of things to come.
Zoesch @ Jul 15th 2008 5:48PM
Cool, so you don't have to spend $400 to play FFXIII... not that anyone is actually bothered about that (I'm not really into FF at all, played VII and Crisis Core, Kingdom Hearts on the other hand...)
Microsoft had playable demos of everything we knew was coming, the only thing that I want from Microsoft in the mid term is Fable 2, Gears 2 is leaving me a bit underwhelmed to be honest.
Chadyasutora @ Jul 15th 2008 5:51PM
@Knight Marquise
If you're a FF fanboy...then why the hell are you excited about 13? It's as far away from the other Fantasies as it could possibly be!
Knight Marquise @ Jul 15th 2008 7:49PM
Chadyasutora
I'm a very old school gamer, I like them all, the goods, the bads, and the uglys. I'll still end up picking up a playstation 3 for versus, as that is still exclusive. I've also got my daughter hooked on the series. ;)
Zoesch...really? I'm hyped for Fable 2, but that's because I've played through Fable 1 so many times I've lost count. Gears 2, while I was looking forward to it, I wasn't "excited" even though I spent more time online w/Gears then any other game. But, lately, Epic has been showing things which makes me think Gears 2 is going to be cutting into my rpg bliss this fall. :)
Zertoss @ Jul 15th 2008 4:50PM
I think it was pretty obvious that Microsoft had the best show. I mean, they had that Joystiq faceplate!
Oh and I guess they showed some games or something.
KarlW @ Jul 15th 2008 4:50PM
I'm a PS3 owner, but I have to concede that Microsoft had the best keynote. The FF13 announcement was totally unexpected, and a real boon to their console.
That said, Sony had the best presentation. That LBP level was just the best. Surprised there was no mention of KZ2 other than the montages, and was hoping for some Sqeenix news to compensate for FF13. Oh, well. At least MAG looks pretty interesting.
Ghen @ Jul 15th 2008 4:58PM
True. FFXIII won it for Microsoft this year.
