It's not
Guitar Hero: Metallica but metal fans should still be excited about today's announcement (at
Microsoft's pre-E3 press conference) that their next album, Death Magnetic, will be released as a
Guitar Hero III and
Guitar Hero World Tour the same day it launches in stores this fall. "Who knows, maybe a few years from now this will be the norm when your favorite band's new record comes out," the boys from the band said on their
official web site.
The band is no stranger to rhythm games, already having tracks featured in both
Rock Band and
Guitar Hero III already. The band was
previously reported to be in talks to premiere a single as
Rock Band DLC.

FSK405K @ Jul 15th 2008 2:37AM
Where's Nirvana's Nevermind on Rock Band? Coming soon, ever?
Jakka @ Jul 15th 2008 3:02AM
You have better chances of Modding the PC Version of GH.Otherwise it's Frets On Fire.
FSK405K @ Jul 15th 2008 4:22AM
Hey, they announced it at last year's E3, to be released not long after Who's Next. So, here we are waiting. Did they lose the master tracks to the Nevermind album, too?
Arturo @ Jul 15th 2008 2:38AM
that guy was so nervous on stage, i sort of felt bad for him
Alzheimers @ Jul 15th 2008 9:51AM
If you knew you were being followed by Rock Band 2, you'd be pissing your pants too.
Oh Metallica, why couldn't you be like the Beetles and break up while you were still good?
Arturo @ Jul 15th 2008 12:23PM
only it wasn't that at all, he was just damn nervous to be up there period lmao
comtar @ Jul 15th 2008 2:42AM
Yeah... and the last good Metallica Album was how long ago?
Demaar @ Jul 15th 2008 4:05AM
lol exactly what I was thinking. This would be more exciting if they announced old stuff to promote the new stuff... or something?
Kinda crap news, anyway.
J.Goodwin @ Jul 15th 2008 5:03AM
Hint, it was the last one that featured songs credited to Dave Mustaine.
Fuck Metallica.
Atr-Slzr-Ctr @ Jul 15th 2008 2:56AM
...the Hell is your problem!?
Quaddw @ Jul 15th 2008 3:07AM
Yea that guy was so nervous during the conference, and was like waiting for applause at like 2 moments but no one cared to, so there were awkward pauses at times where he was expecting applause XD
DWells55 @ Jul 15th 2008 3:15AM
Metallica and Guitar Hero - two things that used to be awesome but have since then gone way downhill.
Hafk @ Jul 15th 2008 3:22AM
And at the same time, both have potential to come back and be good again.
We can dream, right?
Tez (PSN: Tezasaurus) @ Jul 15th 2008 3:22AM
I'm amazed they aren't releasing it as a separate disc.
Chase @ Jul 15th 2008 4:17AM
Nigh everyone at CAG laughed when he said "Metallica!" and did the devil's horns. 'Twas hilarious. Poor guy.
klepto88 @ Jul 15th 2008 4:24AM
St. Anger had approximately zero guitar solos. We don't need another "One" per se, but if this is all just bland riff-y stuff, forget it.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jul 15th 2008 11:12AM
Nope their new album has solos in every song
Me @ Jul 15th 2008 4:38AM
Metallica and Guitar Hero-two things that have gone downhill, but now are making an amazing comeback.
murph @ Jul 15th 2008 8:12AM
BFD. I much rather have Metallica "Battery" (Rock Band 2) instead of the new crappy album.
TechieDude @ Jul 15th 2008 8:13AM
Only Rock Band in my homestead.
ToRo @ Jul 15th 2008 8:40AM
lmao! @ the guy talking about the pr0n site. it's so random!
Anyways, just because St. Anger had no guitar solos doesn't mean this one won't have them either. Listen to the supposedly leaked song list on youtube. That doesn't sound like St. Anger to me.
As much as you guys despise guitar hero (hell, I do too) this Metallica album is gonna sell like hot cakes in GH. Is it exclusive for GH or is there a slim chance that'll come out for rockband? I'm hoping to god that it does.
Rocketboy @ Jul 15th 2008 8:40AM
Metallwho?
Patrick Hightower @ Jul 15th 2008 8:59AM
Did anyone else notice that the wording was that it will be DLC for Guitar Hero 3 when the album releases and then later for WT DLC?
Does this mean simply that the DLC will be available for WT once WT comes out, or that DLC for GHIII will not work in WT, or simply that DLC for GHIII may work in WT, but only the guitar part?
rodsky @ Jul 15th 2008 10:26AM
band has gone to complete shit, the new songs were sounding ok for the 1st 10 seconds then Hetfield starts with his yeahhhhhhhhhh whoooaaaaa, like hes the alt metal country version of little john, someone kill 'em all
The Dom @ Jul 15th 2008 10:19AM
I kinda dont like the double-buying of music. But I guess the RIAA wont change that. I feel if you buy it for Rock Band/GH you should have access to the tracks outside of those games. At least let us play them on our XBox music collection?
deaftly @ Jul 15th 2008 12:16PM
Metallica sucks
phooky @ Jul 15th 2008 12:31PM
so what does that mean for guitar hero: metallica?
as mentioned here http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/02/guitar-hero-metallica-coming-before-q1-2009/
G$ @ Jul 16th 2008 9:29AM
Oh, Metallica. Once Cliff died, Metallica died. Justice still had his footprint on it, but everything afterward is pretty awful. If you need an example, just think of the drums on St. Anger. They're the Aerosmith of metal. Please stop...
Why do rock games keep choosing bands that are past their prime? I won't discuss the new Weezer tracks on RB... much too painful.
WWJBD @ Jul 16th 2008 5:47PM
Rock Band 2 has a new GNR track, and GHWT has a new Metallica album. I guess I know which one I'm buying. Didn't RB announce they had exclusive Metallica content at E3 last year and they came up with "Master Of Puppets"? Cool song, but it sort of seems like they have no problem announcing BS and not following through.
