New PS2 bundle has Lego Batman, Justice League movie, $149 price

At their E3 press conference today, Sony announced a new hardware bundle for their still-running-strong PS2 system. The package will come with a copy of Lego Batman and a DVD of the Justice League animated movie, all for $149. Not a bad deal, especially considering the system alone costs $129 these days. Sony also stressed the strength of the still-growing PS2 library at the conference, mentioned 130 games coming to the system in 2008, including Yakuza 2, Force Unleashed, NCAA Football, Tiger Woods, Warriors Orochi 2, Singstar Pop vol. 2, Madden, and Mercenaries 2: World in Flames.

Typical fanboy comment. The fact that the PS2 still appeals to alot of people who don't want to fork out hundreds of dollars just to play a good game once in a while is too hard to comprehend for you?

Press: Jack, can you tell us what types of new features and games will be available for the PS3?
Jack Tretton: Uhh, did I mention that we have a new PS2 bundle coming out?
Press: Did you just say "PS2 Bundle"? WTF?
Jack T: 10 year lifespan, 10 year lifespan!

Uh, I could be wrong, Kyle Orland, but I think you missed something. Going by the picture, that's a NEW PS2 model for the US. Japan already has it, but it's a redesigned slim without the need for the "brick" power adapter, as the power supply unit is all internal.

Wow... and I thought the PSP was the epitome of atrocious bundles. Then again, this is probably the kind of thing that the 3 people who haven't bought a PS2 at some point over the years would eat up. Sometimes you really have to wonder what is going on at SOA.
