During Nintendo's keynote address, the company carjacked the audience's attention, announcing that Grand Theft Auto is coming to the DS. Titled GTA: Chinatown Wars, little is known about the game, save for that it will feature a new game engine, characters, and the series' standard sandbox-style gameplay.

We're in the internet age now. Screenshot is the new generic term for photographs, scanned images and paintings. All media will now be referred to as discs, including VHS tapes and LP's. Clocks and watches will be called phones and all forms of writing and calligraphy will be referred to as typing.

GTA and GTA2 were ported to Game Boy Color. And there was also GTA Advance on GBA.
Oddly, they still haven't gotten a console version of GTA.

The series lost some of it's appeal when GTA4 introduced the "OH MY FUCKING GOD,THIS IS SO FUCKING SERIOUS AND REALISTIC!" approach.

After seeing what happened to Resident Evil and Burnout on the DS, I can't really expect too much out of this. Then again, I've never played a GTA I didn't like.
