Nintendo press conference bingo results

Eat it, Microsoft bingo! With six out of our 24 predictions for Nintendo's E3 press conference coming true, we wiped the floor with your paltry five correct predictions from Microsoft's conference. Of course, the Microsoft results don't count all the confirmed MS news that leaked out outside the press conference. And of course, both bingo games utterly failed to get the five in a row that's traditionally considered a win. But who cares? We're number one! We're number one!

Yeah, that conference pretty much sucked. Some neat stuff, but nothing along the lines of Day 1 purchases.
Well, maybe they'll hold another media summit thing in the fall like they did in October when Sonic was announced. :(
avow @ Jul 15th 2008 1:45PM
minus the bit where anyone cared about any of that stuff... god, what a horrible conference.
J @ Jul 15th 2008 2:10PM
Shameful how they brag about how many wiis they're selling, yet offering so little to their consumers.
Where's Fernando. He's hiding.
giantenemycrab @ Jul 15th 2008 2:53PM
Unless Sony can pull something amazing, I'd say E3 goes to Microsoft.
Jagzi11a @ Jul 15th 2008 1:45PM
failure
Saria the Cat @ Jul 15th 2008 1:53PM
I'm making a note here...epic fail.
Monkeys Suck @ Jul 15th 2008 1:55PM
It's hard to overstate my disappointment.
Mr.ESC @ Jul 15th 2008 1:59PM
Nintendo they do what they must because they can.
For the good of all soccer mom's except the ones who are hardcore.
But there is no sense crying over every mistake...
Doom3killer @ Jul 15th 2008 2:04PM
It just keeps on sucking till my friendcode goes dead
Jagzi11a @ Jul 15th 2008 2:05PM
you just keep on trying till you run out of ideas for mario titles. And the science get done, and you make a neat perfect shot gun for the people who own a WII
Jakka @ Jul 15th 2008 2:10PM
You just keep not playing till you get a great game.
WiiFTW @ Jul 15th 2008 2:32PM
I am very angry.
I'm being so sincere right now.
You just had to go casual
And kill me
And tore me to pieces
And threw otaku and geeks into a fire
As they burned it hurt because
I was so fucking mad at you!
Rabidkeebler @ Jul 15th 2008 1:45PM
After that suck of a conference, you may just have to remove the x over the Fanboys love Reggie square.
Jagzi11a @ Jul 15th 2008 1:49PM
seriously, its getting harder and harder for people to want a WII. The novelty is wearing off and now Ninetndo is trying to give people more first party rehashed crap to tide them over until they can come out with some more mario stuff.
Duke @ Jul 15th 2008 1:52PM
You know, I actually think you're kinda right here. There were no major nintendo francise announcements to pay homage to their harcore fans - thats pretty insulting.
Tiptup300 @ Jul 15th 2008 1:53PM
With the boldness of his typeface, I'd have to agree.
Shane @ Jul 15th 2008 1:45PM
The new motion plus thing looks really cool. I would say it is the best thing out of that confrence.
XIII @ Jul 15th 2008 1:51PM
Yes, but when will this be implemented directly into the Wiimote (WiiMote v2), and not as an add-on? Seems rather redundant to always have to have both.
Dirty @ Jul 15th 2008 2:00PM
wish they showed it with something a lot cooler.
Giroro @ Jul 15th 2008 2:05PM
Motionplus: Gives the Wiimote function that everybody thought it already had.
What is in that little thing anyway?
Orionsaint @ Jul 15th 2008 1:46PM
What??? MS announces a new look for XBL that radically changes the system. The first gameplay footage of RE5 & Fallout 3! Netflix merges with XBL! Fable II! Gears2! Then they drop a bomb, FF13 on 360. The first time since 97 that the main FF franchise jumps ship to another console. Yeah lame sure.
Nintendo had one of the lamest E3 press conferences ever! They announce Animal Crossing for wii and GTA chinatown for DS, which looks to be a top down version of GTA lol. G4 confronted Reggie too. Kevin was mad and said what about us Reggie? Kid Icarus? New Zelda? Morgan too and reggie was saying, what! We gave you Animal Crossing. Sad, lol
bombtrak @ Jul 15th 2008 1:58PM
FYI: GTA started as a top-down game. Just sayin'.
Zoesch @ Jul 15th 2008 2:03PM
They're on the "whatever makes us money" mode, so don't get your hopes up for new hardcore games on the Wii.
giantenemycrab @ Jul 15th 2008 2:57PM
I'm really happy for Animal Crossing, just like I am for Fallout 3, but if that was the only thing coming out for the rest of the year, I'd still be disappointed. Reggie seems to not understand that, yes, AC is great, but we need more than ONE game to look forward to.
I'd say it's official, Nintendo is now a company that targets little kids, soccer moms and grandmas.
crazyyellowguy @ Jul 15th 2008 1:47PM
makes me wonder why even the logical, predictable spots weren't even mentioned. WHY!!
AlwaysOn @ Jul 15th 2008 1:46PM
So Nintendo screws the hardcore fanboys and go causal gamers all the way with mini games and tons of accesories thanks alot Big N, you showed me how much my support has been worth to you guys over the years. This keynote is in my book worst keynote ever...
GGNORE
FOXHOUND @ Jul 15th 2008 1:46PM
As stated earlier, since Nintendo decided not to reveal any plans for easing the 'storage problem'... it looks like my option is either mod the damn thing or put it in a plastic storage bin with the Dreamcast; to be used when needed.
So aggrivating. >:\
Jacksons @ Jul 15th 2008 1:47PM
What are they going to do with all the old Wii jackets? I say they recycle them and produce Wii Breast Implants, for that hard-to-reach low self-esteem girls audience.
Zoesch @ Jul 15th 2008 2:57PM
Then they'll announce a new game that uses the balance board and camera called Wii Jiggle :(
Giroro @ Jul 15th 2008 1:48PM
the wii Motionplus thing was announced BEFORE the conference, so you can't mark it on bingo.
Yeah the conference was too zetta gay.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jul 15th 2008 1:49PM
Yeah this is where they could have convinced me to get a wii, but instead they told me "Hey you, if you get a wii you better be wearing a jockstrap because we're going to be constantly kicking you in the balls".
Sorry Nintendo, but I don't like getting kicked in the balls.
ballistic3188 @ Jul 15th 2008 1:49PM
only two bright spots was voice chat and the motion control plus every thing else was weak or suck. man the sales have really gotten to their head. hope e for all will produce better.
acefondu @ Jul 15th 2008 1:50PM
I didn't think Nintendo could have a worse E3 than in 2007, boy was I wrong.
VeHeMeNcE @ Jul 15th 2008 1:52PM
The Nintendo press conference was extremely disappointing to me, what the hell are they doing?!
Mr.ESC @ Jul 15th 2008 1:51PM

joe @ Jul 15th 2008 1:52PM
Nintendo still has a chance to turn things around on the dance floor...err... show floor.
domgbrown @ Jul 15th 2008 1:55PM
How come you mention 6 out of 24, but have seven marked on the bingo card? You may be the loser who yells bingo before he has it.
bombtrak @ Jul 15th 2008 2:14PM
Free space doesn't count.
What The? @ Jul 15th 2008 1:57PM
Not a single Mascot game for the winter? And they don't have any interesting WiiWare news? Damn!
Mr.ESC @ Jul 15th 2008 2:01PM
They don't even introduced Wario shake it or Megaman 9,what gives?
Mr Khan @ Jul 15th 2008 2:06PM
That's what i meant. Their disappointing showing lacked even a basic attempt to appease core gamers, aside from voice chat and Animal Crossing
They could have showed the world Chrono Trigger DS, Wario Land, and Dragon Quest IX, or Fatal Frame IV and come away golden. Instead it just seemed so, basic. If what they showed was the sum total of what's going on for Wii and DS, i would be feeling sad and abandoned too, but i know the goodness is still coming, even if Nintendo themselves seem to have forgotten that
@tomic @ Jul 18th 2008 11:27PM
Mr. Khan, I still don't think it would've been enough for the fans to just announce games we already knew about. We're a finicky bunch. It would've been nice for the more obscure ones to get some publicity and not even mentioning games like Mad World certainly added insult to injury, but what the fans really wanted was at least one surprise announcement that really appealed to the traditional fanbase. Animal Crossing is fine, but hardly a top Nintendo franchise and really doesn't cut it as a big holiday game. Not to mention it didn't surprise anyone. Star Fox, F-Zero, or Kirby would've complimented it pretty well and at least shown that Nintendo still acknowledges the existence of their mascots. Something huge like Kid Icarus or Zelda would've been even better.
You're right that there's some potentially good stuff coming (Mad World, The Conduit, Monster Hunter 3, etc.), but most are coming post 2008 and a lot are from 3rd parties as well. Late 2008 was looking pretty barren for the Wii going into E3 and, after the conference, things don't look much better. Hopefully Nintendo has some surprise announcements for after E3, otherwise we're looking at a very dull 2nd half this year.
Mr Khan @ Jul 15th 2008 1:56PM
It's clear enough, at this point, that Nintendo is not going to use E3 to cater to the hardcore audience any longer. 07 had a bit, 08 had less. What winds up happening is that you find frothing rage as the response on the hardcore end, but the mainstream media will declare Nintendo the winner of this conference, just as they did the last one
If what they showed was the sum of what they had, i would be depressed, but they didn't even touch on a fraction of what we know they're doing. Where was WiiWare? Where was Wario Land? Where was Disaster? Fire Emblem DS? Even Professor fucking Layton? They're taking the E3 keynote venue and moving it as their casual venue, clearly
Giroro @ Jul 15th 2008 1:57PM
Casual gamers don't even pay attention to E3, Why did they try so hard to reach an audience that wasn't watching?
Dirty @ Jul 15th 2008 2:03PM
Excellent point. I think maybe for investors? But I agree with you.
Catprog @ Jul 15th 2008 2:20PM
I think the E3 press conferences are the only time video games get on the mainstream media(New York Times, TV stations etc), except for GTA style video games are bad things.
Catprog @ Jul 15th 2008 2:20PM

samfish @ Jul 15th 2008 2:32PM
You don't understand the point of E3. It's not for hardcore gamers. It was always intended as an industry/trade show type event, even back when it was all glitz and glamor...it just got far, far away from what you'd typically see at those kind of shows until last year's E3.
That said, they also know that 'hardcore' gamers are watching, so it's really stupid of them in that sense to treat it as a casual-only affair.
giantenemycrab @ Jul 15th 2008 3:01PM
I think GTA DS is their weak attempt to say they still want the hardcore market. Soccer moms, Nintendo's (apparent) primary audience, think GTA is a puppy-killing, kitten-raping contraption.
