*Phew* Glad that Sloth found another job, I don't think he's worked since 1985!

It looks technically amazing. However, I don't care for the art direction. It looks very cliche, but then again, I don't know the premise of the game too well. But using the appropriate substitute of "judging a book" by its cover, these screenshots seem to fortell another cliche.

"In a world, ravaged by a techonolgical advancedment civilization could not control..."

"The surviors of a biological experimental gone wrong, must how find shelter in the remains of a once great civilization..."

"Defending themselves, and using the tools left behind, where they will race to save thier lives..."

"Until one day..."

"When those who were left behind, will come out of the shadows of the ruined city..."

"Filled with hate, filled with anger.... fueled by insanity"

Above trailer plays and then...

"RAGE".

Seriously, I expected that "In a world" voiceover guy to say something like that.

Yeah, this just looks like another excuse to shoot demonic beasts, except now they've thrown in the car from Half-life 2.

I'm not sure why, but i think this game is looking incredible, from a technological and artistic standpoints. . I hope it won't disappoint.

Damn, looks freakin' amazing. All I could imagine is how atmospheric it must feel when playing. Hope it's on consoles (it's EA now so...).

I gotta say, I'm a little underwhelmed. Remember how much better Doom 3 looked than everything? Or the huge leap for 3-D that was Quake? This, though---even aside from art direction, the tech just doesn't look that much more impressive than Unreal Engine 3 on a good day, or even the Crytek engine. Granted, id may well have come up with things that make it easier to develop for, and kinder to processors, than those, but for now, I gotta say meh.

I'm going to have to disagree with you. It's looking like this and fallout are going to be the bar pedigree for current-gen consoles for the short term. If the video is realistically depicting how smooth and fluid the game is, I think they have marched forward quite nicely.

In fact, it's really getting to the point where it's difficult to make something "seem" like such a vast departure from previous titles, because now that rendering is close to photorealistic, the deciding attributes of a game's immersion will be its execution of atmosphere, animation, art direction, story, etc.

The game will be another hash of what ID has been doing for 15 years. FPS are old news.

I am confused by the double disc problem. People are willing to download 2gb game demos for their machine. Couldn't Rage be shipped on 2 DVDs and then when the game is installed another few GB could be downloaded. If they were really clever, they could set up a server that downloaded content as you needed it.

Most games are not finished anyway. Surely downloadable models/levels from later in the game could be downloaded as and when people need them.
