This alone makes Sony's show better then Nintendo's.

And for the record, I am a Nintendo Fanboy. Their show sucked so bad for gamers. It was like a casual feast.

A lot more than this made it a lot better than Nintendo's. I agree... that show sucked ass.

But come on Sony! Show us gameplay!

Are you kidding me? This was the best kept secret in the games industry. Actually, second best, right behind the fact that Nintendo is secretly becoming casual only, so all you geeks/otaku can get lost.

The best kept secret in the games industry? Are you kidding me? Everyone's known that Sony wouldn't give up a chance to make a next(now?) gen God of War title. Saying this is a surprise is like saying that you can't believe Star Wars is still being milked for all it's worth.

How else are you suppose to read: "Actually, second best, right behind the fact that Nintendo is secretly becoming casual only, so all you geeks/otaku can get lost."
You don't have to be sherlock holmes here...even someone hyped for Wii Music could have gotten that.

so funny, the g4 guys are trying to spin it positive and not bag on the presentation... they did not do a convincing job. The only positives they had to say was "resistance had a cool moment"

Only a sony hater would think that this equals nintendos conference.

I'm not trying to say this was good, because it was definitely underwhelming overall, but nothing can equal the shittiness that was nintendos conference.

At least we got several new PS3 and PSN announcements, and the R2 leviathan battle was sweet. What was unveiled at nintendo's conference that could be considered awesome? wii music??? lol

There is no battle, Nintendo had the lamer presentation. We watched some chick play virtual Frisbee and a group of people playing awful virtual instruments.

haha yah I know, I'm just bagging. They were both boring. Honestly I didn't expect anything from nintendo. They've almost used up all their rehash franchises, now they're pushing the motion gimmick harder with more gimmicky peripherals. I'm so glad I found someone to buy my Wii. It took me a few months too, which was painfully surprising.

To answer your question, Nintendo by far. That isn't to say Sony's wasn't bad. Even the Resistance 2 gameplay looked really lame and that was the only impressive mark the ps3 had to offer that wasn't a rendered animation. The creature obviously looked sweet, but the gameplay seemed overly scripted and stale and tame. And the story is so cheese.
For me MAG was the only "ok" moment for sony. 256 players in one game sounds nice, but when you think about it for more than a skin-layer level, it's obvious why it's not really a good idea and it won't really advance gameplay or the fps in any particular way. It's like saying hockey would be a better game if 100 people were on the field at the same time.
There's a reason why ground war for cod4 and BTB in halo, etc suck.

It's been year of the trailer since the ps3 came out. Let's be honest, this is nothing new and I feel sorry for ps3 owners.
I also feel sorry for Insomniac workers. 1. They're working a hell of a lot 2. They must be tired of this ratchet crap and 3. Making a "meh" cliche "looks and feels like everything else" series like Resistance has got to be hard on your integrity. Ratchet was at least cute and clever back when it was fresh 8 years ago. You could tell their heart was into it at the time, but I'm not getting that same feeling from their work on resistence. You can tell they're mailing it in hard and going full gear at it too from all directions.

Wow, a no gameplay trailer of GOW3 and a remade planetside (basically) as the big reveal. Sony and Nintendo tie for the most boring press events of E3. Killzone got about 10 seconds of press time, there was no showing of non-prologue Grand Turismo, they showed Metal Gear Solid 4 despite it already having come out....UGG. What happened to showing us things that won't come out for a year or more? Where is the new info on FFXIII? Sony and Nintendo dropped the ball hard >

As to Sony plugging FFXIII, if you were Sony would you give Square free press after what they did to them yesterday?

I think that Sony's presentation was the best with the smoke and lights and stuff . If they had some more kick-ass stuff to show it would be easily the best .

I'd have reminded them of the PS3 exclusive (supposedly, I guess that could change) FFXIII Versus. I'd also have shown the new trailer etc. They spent so much time talking about the history of the playstation, and asking developers what they liked about the playstation, that they never actually got around to giving gameplay demonstrations of the games that will be coming out this year. Little Big Planet as a marketing tool was clever, I'll give them that, and their set was probably the best of the 3 companies, but a cool set and one gameplay demo of Little Big Planet do not an awesome press conference make.

There is no denying that FFXIII on the Xbox 360 is the biggest bombshell announcement of E3 so far. I just hope that in the smaller press conferences we'll see more of Killzone 2 (graphics are looking pretty damn good from what I saw in the last 1up show) more of Little Big Planet (They showed a finished level. I want to see what goes into making those levels) and hopefully some GOW3 gameplay footage.

I need to modify my earlier statement though; Compared to Nintendo's casual wankfest earlier, Sony get the #2 slot next to MSoft.

Better than Nintendo's for sure. Nothing too exciting. Resistance on PSP is the best thing they showed. Still much better than Nintendo's casual love fest. They just took a dump on gamers at least Sony remembered who was watching.

They can't say they're the year of the software and then just show trailer after trailer with few games being played and then get praise...even from their fanboys. Even they should have a good sense of irony and some kind of standard.

Well seeing as this was already known before the conference, and Jack even acknowledged that...pretty much took the edge off of the pre-rendered trailer. The entire thing feels like E3 2005 with trailer after trailer after trailer.

Everything else didn't convince me at all, but I guess it was because of the trailers and not enough gameplay.

Some in-game footage of either GoW3 or MAG could have made that a really exciting conference. But LittleBigPlanet does look really great, and it managed to turn usually the most tedious part of Sony's show into the most interesting for me. The Resistance 2 demo was good too, though I was a little more impressed by Gears 2 yesterday.

For me, there still isn't quite enough reasons to own a PS3, but it's a hell of a lot more attractive than it was two years ago. If Sony keeps this up, I'll be an owner soon enough...

Guys, I figured it out! Sony's 10 year plan works like this: come out with one good exclusive game every other year! It was so obvious.
Before you call me a fanboy...i'll say microsoft's 5 year plan is to come out with one good exclusive every year. It all adds up in the end.

I take it you don't own a 360 or a PS3 based on that moronic statement.

Both the 360 and the PS3 have had more than 1 great exclusive title on their consoles EVERY year. Your comments litter this forum like the garbage in our major cities. Please stop.

Sony, i am begging you to give me a reason to buy a PS3 & you keep blowing it. First things first, you need to bring back a SKU w/ full backwards compatibility. Second, you need to provide me w/ (great) experiences i cannot get on my 360. Lastly... Trophies?? Seriously, that's the best you could come up with??

Things we know from the trailer as they pertain to the story of GoW3 (WARNING MAY CONTAIN SOME SPOILERS):

(1) The narrator of the trailer is Zeus from GoW2. Apparently, he and the rest of Olympus have been run off the mountain by the Titans seen at the end of GoW2.

(2) The Titans have disappeared. Perhaps they have left to chase the Olympians?

(3) One can surmise that many of the gods from Olympus are going to be bosses in GoW3. Off the top of my head I'm thinking Hades, Poseidon, Hera, and Helios.

(4) Zeus as his bretheren have survived the initial assault and are regrouping for a battle against Kratos.

(5) Kratos is taking the world back to a pre-Olympian state? Perhaps the "chaos" he is referring to at the end could be Mother Nature or Gaia?

Just some food for thought.

in the end, it doesn't matter who's press conference "won". the wii and its casual games will keep selling, the 360 will still be second, and the ps3 will still keep losing exclusives and relying on games that won't get anyone but the playstation faithful interested.

Like i said before PS3 is a wait and see or im gonna console.

Ms wasnt that great but the netflix thing will be great better than "on demand" actually. that alone is GREAT news. GOW was shown in the manual of the psp version and they've been showing littlebigplanet in their tv commercials all this year. they did the same thing with MGS4. which they also showed. thats like MS coming there with NG2 which is a great game but its out already.
