Does anyone (except Sony) really care that much about FF exclusivity? It won't be out before 2010 unless you're lucky enough to be able to understand Japanese. Focus on stuff that actually matters and is coming out in the next 6-12 months.

Ya, the 360 has delayed it further, it also won't make much of a difference to the ps3, GTA going multi didn't hurt kill the ps3 so FF13 won't either, especially since its exclusive in japan where it will help boost hardware alot. It sucks that it went multi but we still get to play it. Wats disgusting is the fallout 3 exclusive content for the pc and 360.

because he said that the 360 is "the only system bring you netflix AT NO ADDITIONAL COST......"

what does that mean??? maybe us PS3 people will have to pay a one time fee for the program??

Meh.

-Netflix agreement is US only and costs alot of money apparently (xbox live gold + netflix membership needed), streaming media from the PC to a PS3 or xbox 360 is free.
-New Dashboard, wannabe XMB, sorry nothing special. -Avatars is a Mii ripoff and falls flat compared to Home. Same for Xbox Experience. Funny how MS first said that something like Home is not really what people want.
-Exclusive Games (fable 2, GoW, Too Human, Lips, etc...), funny you mention lips it's a singstar rip-off. And Sony has plenty of exlcusive games this year (MGS4, R2, LBP, Wipeout, Infamous, Motorstorm 2 and maybe we'll see some more surprises tonight.

Aside from the FF13 announcement (which we won't see for the next 2 years) it was a pretty poor showing.

Lips - Singstar rip off
Movies - Eyetoy rip off
Avatars - Mii and Home rip off

Two of those things that have been available since the ps2
All MS made apparent is that they love to steal.

There's the sad truth of that press conference right there. Don Mattrick could've literally came out and said "Well, we've got a Mii rip-off, a SingStar rip-off, and an EyeToy rip-off, but we also secured Final Fantasy XIII" and they still would've stole the show. Christ, how do you follow that up?

1. That netflix thing is worhtless IMO. SD quality? Pointless. The HD standard goes into full effect next year... Do you really want movies all grainy and crappy or do you want to actually enjoy them? I guess if you can't afford HD and never will that's why someone would get a 360 but it's still a waste IMO.

2. The dashboard thing to get people to install thier games is pretty much a gimmick that I bet Microsoft is trying to do in order to boost HDD sales.

3. They still have to show me that this will some how be more enjoyable and perferable than home. If Microsoft does manage to get it out before Home, well that's because they're a software company. Atleast our PS3s have a very slim chance of actually failing. Sony's a hardware company just be glad they have better hardware than the Xbox Please Fix Me. Plus Microsoft had about 20 something billion dollars more in reserve than Sony had because Microsoft is a lieing thieving company. They get hammered with lawsuits trying to create monopolies and trying to do underhanded things to sell products all the time. Microsoft does what ever they can to try and crush the competition, and they're famous for stealing great ideas. Wether it's the Dreamcast 2 design, an GUI, or many features from Firefox, Opera, and Linux. I don't give a damn about the 360 as long as Microsoft shows itself time and time again to be a despiseable company.

4. Gears of War 3 won't be exclusive. Final Fantasy not being exlcusive is not htat big a deal. You all need to quit whining about it. Multiplatforms don't sell 360s. GTA IV sold more PS3s than it did 360s. We still have better exclusives IMO. Banjo Kazooie? HA! That thing looks like it's going to fail. Just a big vehicle platformer. Fable 2... Ya that may be a good game, but it's not like we don't have any great games. Besides you can pick that game up for PC anyway so technically it's not exclusive. Actually almost no 360 games will be. Lips looks gay as hell to me. Just get Rockband 2 and STFU. Finally Too Human... well don't really care been too excited looking at all the great games that arecomming for the PS3

Pixel Junk Eden, Bioshock with improvements, Resistance 2, (pwns GoW2) God of War III, Inhuman, Naruto Ninja Storm (one of the best looking anime games i've ever seen and the demo was HELLA fun), FF Verus, etc... The only hard hit to me was Star Ocean 4, but seeing as how things are going that's going to be multiplatform as well. Disgaea 3 comes out next month and if you don't know what that game is, then you have missed out on one of the best RPG series ever nevertheless the fact that it's also an SRPG.

Oh and even if they get their Dashboard 2 things goin on... unless they have Live Video chat in game like Sony is offering by the end of the year than we can laugh at the 360 boys still.

"No one should be bummed about FFXIII on the 360."

YES THEY SHOULD! The difference maker between the consoles is exclusives. A lot of people (myself included) picked up a PS3 BECAUSE OF THE GAMES THAT IT HAD AS EXCLUSIVES! Such as the Devil May Cry's, Final Fantasy's, GTA's, Gran Turismo's and Metal Gear's. Sony are losing their exclusives and M$ isnt. If FF13 is coming to both systems then why not just get a 360. Then at least you can also play GoW2, Fable 2, Halo, Too Human, Ninja Gaiden 2, Infinite Undiscovery, Star Ocean, Banjo, etc...
Sony really pissed me off yesterday.

No, it's not a trade off. Highlight your mouse over these comments so you can read them after the crying children "downvote" this.

Microsoft just stole one of Sony's most-loved children - and it's on an equal level, no less. Same day release.

Sony got a year-later port of something that was obviously never intended to be just for X360/PC forever.

Nice attempt at spin, though.

You guys scared me. When I first started reading this I thought FF13 had been canceled or something ridiculous. I don't get the big deal with it on the 360 except 360 players will have to deal with a few dvds like they did with that other big rpg nobody bought.

I can't say I was too impressed with MSs announcements yesterday. They're just making uninspired copies of everything everyone else is doing: eye toy, miis, music games...

I think allot of guys here are taking this a bit too personally. I don't think SE did this to hurt you, sony, or this site and honestly I don't think it will hurt sony.

Though I do think that if they're going to start making every game multiplatform, sony, MS, and even nintendo really need to put their heads together and come up with a standard or else they will end up being the ones to bankrupt the third party publishers.

I have to admit it p1ssed me off and I'm still annoyed over it. I *hope* Sony delivers something fantastic today at E3 to try and at least counter the fact that they've just lost such a lucrative and prestigious exclusive.

I'm PS3 through-and-through but, hand on heart, I can't see Sony delivering anything today. Maybe this stems from the disappointed feelings I have from yesterday's announcements (Fallout 3 DLC as well?) but I really think Sony won't be able to pull back the ground they lost yesterday; no matter what they announce.

Maybe something like "Sony buys Infinity Ward. COD5 exclusive to PS3".
:)

But seriously, I'm setting myself up for more disappointments today.

Question. I was looking at the E3 schedule. Now, M$ had their presentation all to themselves yesterday, if I'm not mistaken.
Today, from what I've read, Nintendo goes first and then Sony's presentation is after Nintendo's. If that's correct, why does M$ have a day solely to themselves where as Nintendo and Sony have to share their presentation times on the same day?
I could be looking at the schedule incorrectly, so I need some clarification. Thanks.

You're missing a hell of a lot of 360 exclusive titles there to be fair. Where's Alan Wake for example? Where's Portal: Still Alive?

The point people are making is that there are some games that are so big that losing exclusivity makes a difference. Bioshock going to PS3 was bad (for MS). Losing Ninja Gaiden II was bad (for Sony) but they’re not in the same league as Final Fantasy. There are a handful of games that define a system. Sure, GT is one of them but so was FF. Yes, FF has been on other systems in the past but for a LONG time it's been touted as "only on PS3" because, well, only the PS3 can handle it. This is just not the case anymore.

Now that Bungie is not 100% in bed with MS anymore (they still meet for sordid secret trysts at a motel in Redmond but the passion is gone) it would be like Halo 4 going multi-platform. Or, actually, Halo Wars getting a port on the PS3. That's the level of sting that would need to happen for the Xboxfanboys to feel what the PS3fanboys felt yesterday.

You're talking exclusives but I'm talking about a massive turn of events. Losing Final Fantasy exclusivity is going to have massive ramifications to Sony. It was a system seller and, for those that bought it for it, they now feel cheated and for those that are waiting, well, some of them will simply get it on the 360. Therefore loss of software and, more importantly, hardware sales for Sony.

I still can't believe after all of Kaz's comments recently about breaking the embargo of "we will not pay for exclusivity" that this happened. Surely he could have picked up the phone to Hashimoto-san and worked something out. Who knows, we’ll probably never find out exactly how this happened but it’s happening so I guess we’ll just have to learn to live with it.

I think folks aren't seeing the big picture here. Exclusives matter. They ARE difference makers. Its not that Sony doesn't believe in exclusives, its just that there's a shift in the 3rd party mindset, regarding THEIR exclusives. Development is costly this generation, and when 3rd parties can make more money putting their game on both platforms, they're going to do it. GTA sold over 9 million units. Any idea how much money they made on that game? Sony would have to pay for the cost of development and forego on a good amount of profit for it to even be worthwhile to take. I'm willing to bet, it'd be for a loss. Since there aren't as many PS3s out there, so your profit wouldn't be that huge to begin with. Do that for DMC4, FFXIII, RE5, right after you put billions into development of the PS3, and the company would be in even further in the red. They have more studios than Nintendo and MS combined. It'd be far more wiser to step back and let 3rd parties "share" it all, and make your 1st party games do the difference making. You don't see MS buying rights to the established franchises. You see exclusive DLC, or smaller pick-ups of unproven titles from SquareEnix. But where are their 1st party titles? They didn't show any of that. People have seen Gears 2 and Fable 2. We all know that's coming. Where were the hardcore games, we can't get anywhere else? FFXIII was a hit to a lot of folks pride, but it still doesn't answer the question of what's next? FFXIII is at best late 2009. What will folks be playing til then? 80% of their presentation was shared titles and old history recap, 10% was exclusive (lips, gow2, fable2), the other was mii/home hybrid. Their weapons were pretty much: avatars and a shared title we didn't expect. I hardly see how that equates to Sony's end.

Wow!
If there is one thing I have learned from E3 this year its that Fanboys will be Fanboys. I find it funny that some of you wont read the writing on the wall. PLAYSTATION IS IN TROUBLE! You dismiss everything as a "rip-off" and make stupid comments like "Gears of War 3 wont be exclusive" WHEN M$ OWNS THE RIGHTS TO THE FRANCHISE!!!

Yes Lips is a Singstar rip-off but its BETTER! Better quality microphone, and the ability to use your own microphone. I listened to the PSfanboy podcast and read posts where people were complaining about the quantity of songs available. IN LIPS YOU CAN USE YOUR OWN MUSIC SO YOUR NOT LIMITED TO WHAT IS AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD (I'm gonna be blasting Third Eye Blind)

Then you run around screaming "BUT PS3 HAS BLU-RAY". I have 42 blu-ray movies (if you dont believe me add me to your ps friends list and ill show you them over a video-chat) and I have only seen like 3 of them more than once. That Netflix agreement is HUGE! there is no extra fee, and if you have a netflix account you can manage your que straight from your 360. Movies WILL be HD and available on day 1 of release. Friday night and I'm chillin with the girl, I can rent a movie straight from my 360.

That new dashboard is HOT! And you say the avatars are a rip off of the Mii's. WHO CARES? This is the videogame industry EVERYTHING IS A RIP OFF OF SOMETHING ELSE! I'm excited for those gameshows you can play in on XBL like 1 vs. 100.

And the biggest part about them getting FF13 (which i will still be getting for PS3) is the precidents that this sets. If M$ can get FF then they can get ANYTHING (unless its 1st party).

Then not to mention the games that ae multiplatform gets extra content on the 360. (Ex: GTA4, Fallout 3). Microsoft is bringing home the bacon, I wish Sony would "rip-off" of them and do the same.

Fanboys stop trying to "spin" this. Just take it on the chin and pray (like me) that Sony drops some big news on us today. If not, this can get pretyy ugly (ummm, uglier) fast.
