Xbox Live Primetime limited to four regions at launch
Thanks to our friends at Button Bandits for noticing that the Xbox Live Primetime game show channel (revealed earlier today at Microsoft's pre-E3 press conference) will be launching only in North America, France, Germany and the U.K., according to a press release. The limited rollout could be due to licensing restrictions for Endermol's game shows, or it could be to simply try the service out in a limited release before kicking it to the larger world.

"North America, France, Germany and the U.K."
Endemol is a Dutch corporation and yet the Netherlands don't get it? Lame.
Ves @ Jul 15th 2008 4:46AM
Strange indeed. But how much is still dutch?
Just checked. 75% is in hadns of John de Mol and Silvio Berlusconi
Huey2k2 @ Jul 15th 2008 12:27AM
Does NA include Canada?
Because with MS you never really know.
Halwende @ Jul 15th 2008 12:30AM
Figures, I mean there'll be all sorts of legal complications when it comes to giving stuff away and competition etc... Looks like another XBL service we won't see down-under, at least not anytime soon :(
william_varrenti @ Jul 15th 2008 12:39AM
we does the word hate us so :(
Sora @ Jul 15th 2008 12:45AM
Apparently because your government has so many legal policy differences on competitions and winning prizes than the rest of the world. It could be something else, but I'm not sure.
Mr.ESC @ Jul 15th 2008 1:29AM
A C'mon you cover Spain but you don't cover México WTH? Well at least we get a better deal than Argentina olololololol.
To be honest all this stuff sounds great but I would like a "You don't know JACK" for the xlive even more.
Mr.ESC @ Jul 15th 2008 1:31AM
Oh they don't cover Spain. The Image gave me the wrong idea.
Is pass midnight here.
Volvagia @ Jul 15th 2008 2:06AM
Ummm... correct me if I'm wrong but don't the have the UK's flag on Iceland?
Obie @ Jul 15th 2008 1:09AM
The Icelandic flag is correct.
The English flag is a red cross on a white background.
blah @ Jul 15th 2008 2:31AM
Umm, i think Volvagia is correct. Obie, i am not sure what you are smoking or if your completely oblivious to common knowledge, but they put the union jack on Iceland instead of the geographical UK. The White flag with the Red Cross is the English flag and not the UK's. If you didn't know, the UK and England is not the same. UK stands for United Kingdom which includes the countries; England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland.
blah @ Jul 15th 2008 2:34AM
After further review, I didn't notice that the flag they put on Iceland was missing the two diagonal stripes, so it is the icelandic flag. Sorry Obie, but the English, UK thing still applies. Sorry if it sounds condescending though, i guess Joystiq just accidentally highlighted Iceland instead of the UK.
Snorre @ Jul 15th 2008 3:05AM
Just google it
http://www.google.se/search?q=uk+flag&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
still thinks it is the same?
Neil @ Jul 15th 2008 5:11AM
Obie, you are correct on both counts but the English flag should never be used in this context because the story refers to the whole of the United Kingdom, not just England.
velocitySTRIKE @ Jul 15th 2008 7:59AM
While we're on the topic, the UK's flag is only called the Union Jack when raised at sea; at all other times it is the Union Flag. Little bit of trivia for you all :)
Obie @ Jul 16th 2008 2:37AM
Wow blah...all those words...and you are STILL a dumbass.
rashers @ Jul 15th 2008 5:48AM
Eurogamer reported that this would be available in Ireland on launch too ?
supermoose37 @ Jul 15th 2008 6:28AM
I'm just happy that for once the UK doesn't have to wait over a year for something like this to become available.
gakera @ Jul 15th 2008 7:17AM
You've raised my hopes and dashed them quite expertly sir, BRAVO!
Please don't tease me with the Icelandic flag like that, we always get the shaft :(
Ibere @ Jul 15th 2008 7:41AM
Does anyone knows how the region control works in Xbox Live? I bought my Xbox360 in Canada and registered in the US, now I'm in Brazil but can't get content from North America... is it controled via IP?

Adam @ Jul 15th 2008 8:10AM
Yey for UK.
Danny @ Jul 15th 2008 8:35AM
Get the hell off Joystiq.
Danny @ Jul 15th 2008 8:36AM
I really don't get what that image is supposed to tell us. You have flags over all of the countries in Western Europe except the UK and Switzerland. What gives?
Michael May @ Jul 15th 2008 12:58PM
pssssst. ireland.
but yeah it's a weird map...
laland @ Jul 15th 2008 3:55PM
