It will come down to the setlist for me. I'm really liking the Rock Band 2 setlist. But if some of the rumors for GH4's setlist are true I'mma have to pick that one up first.
Both are gonna be great games. It's just gonna come down to the music for me.

Only having a Wii, I am excited for this because it has the same stuff in it as the 360/PS3 versions.

Same for me. Also, I can't wait for someone crazy enough to recreate Bowser the Shredder.

The drum part doesn't even look fun to play. Of course that is coming from someone who turned his back on the GH series once Harmonix moved to Rock Band.

GH's gems are so very much superior to RB's litte square things. Yeah expert's hard, that's the point.

Dude even though Rock Band is overall easier, the timing window is much tighter in RB, making it harder in that sense. And there are PLENTY of hard rock band songs that easily compare to GH3s toughest songs, like Blackened, Ride the Lightning, Thrasher, and Afterlife.

Hmm. That looked fun. It looked like an overcharted Rock Band that was trying too hard, but it still looked fun. I'd like to play that song.

Maybe, just maybe, since I'm an adult and gainfully employed, I'll buy both.

Damn... the music creator impresses me. I was worried it would just have cheap midi sounds, but the little we heard from the guitar sounded incredible. And I didn't know you could include keyboard... that improves things dramatically.

Seriously, people, look past your biases. This game is something to get excited about.

Do not know if want. GH:WT and RB2 both interest me in some way, but RB2 looks like it will win me over.

GH:WT's music creator doesn't interest me at all. If I wanted to make music I would go play with my band. I have always prefered the feel of the RB strat over the les paul. Is the les paul easier to play insanely-overcharted songs with? Yes. Does it feel even remotely like my guitar that I usually play on? Not at all. The strat feels more at home and the frets/strum bar don't bother me at all. Tbh, I two finger the strat's strum-bar like a bass and play it fine.

GH:WT's drums have the welcomed addition of cymbols. However, they look just as rinky-dink as RB's drumset. While I never broke my drumset in RB (Guitar, on the other hand, the tremelo went out :(), those cymbols look exactly like something my friends or myself would break in a drum roll. Which leads to my question: do the drums get a free-time section like in RB? If not, count another strike towards GH:WT.

It just seems like RB is more of the "band feel" compared to GH:WT. I don't see any Star power/overdrive boosts when you and your band play perfectly together, didn't see any free-spots for drummers, overcharted as hell expert levels on all instruments means the weakest-link will get fustrated quickly, and the UI looks clunky compared to RB.

tl;dr Nice try activision, but better luck next time.

Guitar Hero has been about difficulty since at LEAST gh2. I'm pretty cool with it.

Rock Band for show.

Guitar Hero for a pro.

Wait...
Guitar Hero and such now have "pros"?

*FACEPALM*

Super-pro would be, I dunno, a real guitar, no?
I'll admit it, having both GH and RB as competitors can lead to more benefits to the gamers (Plus, they're freaking fun while hanging out with the mates), but the fact of you even considering one of these games "pro" material...

Damn... they're effing DDR done with your hands.

I love the internet. The one place where you can be guaranteed anything and everything will be taken too seriously.

Of course playing a the easiest song on a real guitar is harder than some of the hardest songs in these games. It amazes me that people jump to these conclusions constantly when no one made the opposing argument in the first place.

As far as my "pro" comment. Two things. A: I was being flippant. B: I was paraphrasing a Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels quote anyway.

IDK but these games seems better than rockband 2, Rockband 2 its just same as RB 1 with the instruments fixed -.-, its compatible with Dlc of RB 1, so the gameplay and Graphics are the same, the song list is cool, but c'mon Gh World Tour has a better drum set (in my opinion) the guitar looks great (but in a video when tony hawk and other people play the demo, it seems that is compatible with the less Paul for GH3), the songs are more challenging, maybe with some unnecessary notes but its for making it harder. So:
GHWT: Cool, Harder, Song Maker, A new char creation mode, great drum set.
RB2: Fixed Instruments, more songs, and damn pretty easy.

*sigh* Maybe Vicarious Visions should do the notecharts instead of Activision, the one's in GH On Tour seemed pretty accurate and not over charted at all. Sad thing is I'll still buy this.

Rockband 2 will be the superior product because it fixes the solo tour, will be properly charted, has a far better star power activation system, has way too many songs already, and has a better art style.

Guitar Hero World Tour has new features sure but they still have a shitty art style and unnecessarily hard note charts.

The difficulty in GHIII and now World Tour is just wrong. Overcharting to make a song harder is not the way to go.

I'm gonna buy both full kits, and leave all my old instruments and GH 2 and 3 at home for my siblings when I leave. I think I'll like both, but have WAY more fun with Rock Band 2. GH has always been my challenge game, so I'll probably mostly play the different careers on solo, mostly... ;) In Rock Band, I'll do all that, but my friends will all gravitate towards RB2, because it's just more fun!

Let's put it this way Rock Band definitely wins in the category of having a much better vocalist do their demos. Of course, they're lucky in that they're a company largely made up of actual musicians so when they bring out the developers to do a demo they get someone who can both talk about the game and is an actual rock vocalist.

Plus, while it's an awesome song (though I think I would have preferred "Panama" personally) you're always going to be at a disadvantage when you have to live up to David Lee Roth. That's really not fair. Reminds me of a shirt I saw a while back: "Who died and made you David Lee Roth?"
