Covenant playable in Halo Wars
22
Some guy over at Joystiq named Richard Mitchell, swear that name sounds familiar, was able to finagle some details from Ensemble Studios during a demo of the game. Ensemble confirmed that the evil Covenant will be playable in Halo Wars. The only catch is that the Covenant will not have a campaign mode and the option to play as them is in multiplayer only. Now, if they would just confirm the Flood already -- we could I go home! Halo Wars is set to release sometime during the Spring of 2009. Looking for more information? While this is no surprise, it wouldn't surprise me if there was only one race going by how stripped down HW is looking anyway.
No resources? 15 minute long multiplayer games? Err..no RTS i like to play thanks. I'm not even sure if it allows building.

yeah, seeing as how Starcraft shipped with 3 campaigns to get all sides of the story.

True, even Warcraft 3 had a few different campaigns to run through.

Xav, the game is a prequel to the original Halo.
so wouldn't it be illogical for the Flood to be in it at all?
don't get me wrong. I want as much of a Halo experience as I can get. But by not putting the Flood in Halo Wars they save something significant to put in Halo Wars 2. (which is nearly a certainty so long as Halo Wars doesn't tank)

screw continuity, I want playable Flood and Sentinels. Who wouldn't want to command a legion of flying robots as guilty spark?

This is news? News would be that they arn't playable.
However, I do hope the flood are in the game, even if its purely for multiplayer skirmish. They would be the spam unit of this game (like the Goblins and Nod in the other two RTS games)

Very cute. Run-of-the-mill sarcasm. The least you could have done was come up with something clever.
Anyways, you can post whatever you like, I just find it a little humourous that this is considered news, as in all my years of PC RTS gaming, I cant recall any that didn't let you play as more than one faction.
I also find it funny that you are insulted by such a small, insignificant thing (even within my own post) that you make a childish reply. Remind me again, are you trying to bring readers in or send them out?
Keep your unprofessional comments out if you want to be taken seriously, please. I have never seen your fellow writers make comments like that.

Oh man I'm not insulted at all... I'm just poking fun at you.
Of course you don't find it funny... I'm making fun of you!
Anyway, the question was out there in the community -- hence the post. Chillax.

I feel stupid. I just expected there to be Covenant and Flood. Marines, Covenant and Flood like Marines, Protoss and Zerg. So we get Marines and Covenant? No Zerg, I mean, Flood?
Suddenly it seems so small.

Brutes were known about before the events of Halo, The Flood were not. The Flood being in this game will be absolutely retarded. I'm sure Bungie stopped them from doing that though. The game takes place in 2531 on planet Harvest, there's no Flood on Harvest, and there's no Flood outbreak at all until 2552.

We're forgetting that Bungie doesn't own the license anymore.
Also, technically Ensemble could add Flood and have those areas glassed... we don't know everything about it all yet.
I'm just saying.

How would The Flood get to Harvest though? They're all in hibernation until 2552, no one knows anything about them until then cause they weren't known about. It would make no sense and I don't think they would do anything against Bungie and the Halo storyline.

My point being, we don't know the entire things takes place on Harvest.
