If you're a frequent visitor to the digi-halls of Joystiq you probably remember my
all-but-glowing take on Capcom's upcoming jet pack-based shooter
Dark Void. Yesterday I got to play the game and I'll keep it brief because it's basically the same section I watched and you know all the details. But I figured you'd like to know if it plays as good as it looks.
Short answer? Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. Taking cover and gunplay feels pretty
Gears of War, not that that's a bad thing or completely unexpected. But taking vertical cover, clinging to a cliffside while robots blast down toward you, feels completely fresh.

Yeah I saw the game demoed live on G4. Looks great and I loved how he got into the flying ship then all of a sudden jumped out and skyrocketed forward. It still needs work but looks to be a fun title. Too bad there is no MP so I guess its in a rental status for me.

This game is very near the top of my list of upcoming games. I can't wait.

So is this like Damnation? At least in concept of gameplay? I read an article in Play magazine about this new game coming out which they basically categorized as a "vertical FPS", which sounds kinda similar on the surface with Dark Void. Damnation's vibe is more of a steampunk meets old west thing, but I'll check Dark Void out, too I guess...
