There are two things we know about Pyramid Head. One, he is a physical manifestation of guilt. Two, he generally causes the physical manifestation of
crap in your pants. Oh, actually, there is a third thing we know about Pyramid Head: he makes an appearance in
Silent Hill Homecoming. This raises the question: what is protagonist Alex Shepherd guilty of? Our guess is that he feels guilty about the desperate fan service required to keep gamers interested in this series.
Stay tuned for hands on impressions.

Cue SH fanboys complaining how Pyramid Head has no reason to be here and how this game is going to suck in 3... 2... 1

Thanks for saying it for me! :D

OMGosh pyramid head only appeared in SH2 he has no place in other silent hill stories wtfbbqsauceburgerman this game is gonna suck as bad as FF13 in the xbaucks 360.
Thjis game would be a lot better in teh ps3 because the xbauxks 3shitty can't has teh blu rays.I grew up with Final fantasy and Silent hill and this game won't sell in Japan because is American and American can do games as good as the Japanese.
Repent Konami repent. This game wont’ sell in Japan nao can someone call the WAAAAAMbulance.
(Happy now? )
Lijik @ Jul 17th 2008 12:57PM
Thanks Mr.ESC, that gave me a good laugh =D
MariosInferno @ Jul 17th 2008 1:40PM
Who knows....depending on the Shephard, PH may fit perfectly. This stuff about PH being exclusive to James' psyche isn't entirely true. BUT, I wouldn't be surprised if PH looked slightly different from the SH2 version.
PH is supposed to resemble the towns old executioners. Clearly not unique to James.

aristokrat @ Jul 17th 2008 1:42PM
What about triangle man fighting person man? That seems to be the most pertinent part of the song in regard to SH. That and whether particle man gets wet underwater (or if the water gets him instead).
riggs @ Jul 17th 2008 2:53PM
This is joystiq, we just roll with it.
Shaq-Fu @ Jul 17th 2008 12:36PM
Guilty of killing the person he's searching for?
Mikey @ Jul 17th 2008 12:43PM
The painting of PH in SH2 suggests to the gamer that he was an executioner back in the town's Crucible days. So his presence in other games doesn't really bother me... but why the movie version? I don't want to be reminded of that garbage at all.
Mr.ESC @ Jul 17th 2008 12:55PM
As much as I love Pyramid head (and who doesn't?) could they include new bosses? The Pyramid Heads are awesome but the first 3 Silent hill games are great because every single one of them is different. Well I hope the boss fights are good this time around.
SH:0 butcher had potential too bad he was easy as cake, even in hard.
I don’t think is going to suck and if it does well I bought Alone in the Dark (And I enjoy it more than Assassin’s creed) and SH:0 which I also enjoyed.
Simon F @ Jul 17th 2008 12:56PM
It would actually be awesome if he was in the game as the manifestation of Team Silent's guilt.
Jfk Aok @ Jul 17th 2008 12:57PM
"Our guess is that he feels guilty about the desperate fan service required to keep gamers interested in this series."
Right on the dot Joystiq boys and girls
Duke @ Jul 17th 2008 12:59PM
If he’s a soldier coming back from war to search for his brother like they said...doesn't that imply there could be things to be guilty about? I would imagine that fighting a war would be able scar Alex's psyche a bit. Maybe killing people is causing him to want to torture himself. Maybe he's a huge hippie deep inside.
Fanfoys are gonna attack me now right?
Mr.ESC @ Jul 17th 2008 1:07PM
Actually that's sounds pretty cool.
LAZoftheTamarinds @ Jul 17th 2008 1:09PM
No, I have to agree. Coming from a war would make you feel guilty about some stuff.
Shaq-Fu @ Jul 17th 2008 2:28PM
Maybe he feels guilty about how war has changed? And Silent Hill gives him no place to hide?
Seriously though, it could be something about how he killed innocent civilians or fragged his comrades or something
Jesse @ Jul 18th 2008 10:41PM
Perhaps something like survivor's guilt. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Survivor_guilt

Deuce @ Jul 17th 2008 1:09PM
I'll just be happy when the series gets over its love of SH2's enemy design. Seriously, it's the weakest and least scary title in the series, owing in no small part to the mostly-pathetic enemies. Creepy enough to look at, sure, but largely ill-equipped to actually do any damage.
I can't be the only one who thought Angela's story would've been more interesting to pursue in that game. I would have been much more impressed with James (and not found him so utterly reprehensible) if he had followed her up the stairs toward the end of the game.
ALH @ Jul 17th 2008 1:38PM
Isnt PH a representation of guilt only in James's mind? To everyone else he is just the executioner.
/has spent way too much time reading up on silent hill lore
//but has never actually finished any of the games ;_;
Ass Masterson @ Jul 17th 2008 1:55PM
You folks are aware that this game is being developed by The Collective, right? That's a virtual guarantee of suck. It's the Buffy engine re-purposed for the billionth time. You'll be doing combos and karate kicks on the undead, with budget-level production quality all around. Survival horror is dead.
Deuce @ Jul 17th 2008 2:01PM
Complain about more games you've never played. It's sexy.
Duke @ Jul 17th 2008 2:10PM
I hate when people talk mad shit about a game they have never touched. Play a game and then bitch at us. Your speculation convinces nobody.
russtophiles @ Jul 17th 2008 2:17PM
Survival horror dead? Better try out that Siren Blood Curse demo boyeeeeee
Shaq-Fu @ Jul 17th 2008 2:44PM
Fatal Frame IV much? Siren? No?
No wonder your parents named you Ass Master
Ass Masterson @ Jul 17th 2008 3:19PM
All I have to offer in defense of my statement is, oh, I don't know, maybe EVERY CRAP GAME THE COLLECTIVE HAS EVER MADE.
Case closed.
Deuce @ Jul 17th 2008 4:14PM
Except for the fact that you still haven't played this game, so you know absolutely nothing about how it will turn out in the end. You may have doubts or suspicions... but you still don't actually know anything.
Big shock.
Ass Masterson @ Jul 23rd 2008 1:51PM
Played the demo at E3. Sucked balls.
Blazur @ Jul 17th 2008 2:07PM
I don't know Joystiq, my love for this franchise hasn't dwindled at all over the years. I love me some Silent Hill spookiness =]
Kenny @ Jul 17th 2008 3:43PM
fuck this shit.
Nora @ Jul 17th 2008 3:57PM
Pyramid Head is like the FFVII of Silent Hill: Keeps coming back to satisfy the needs of fanboys.
My love for SH died with 4 (one word: fangirls), so people can do whatever they want with it. Can't get upset over something I care nothing for. Bring Harry back to life for all I care. People like Harry, what's holding them back?
eleefece @ Jul 17th 2008 4:39PM
The fact that Harry is dead, that´s what´s holding them back.

Ugh. Someone please get me a shirt.
Slyster2152 @ Jul 18th 2008 9:42AM
lol, finally someone has a sense of humor (@ Pyramid Head) *slowly creeps away of fear of having guilt inside head*
Jesse @ Jul 18th 2008 10:50PM
I know I'm happier to see Pyramid Head reappear as an agent of punishment than I would be to see yet another EVIL CULT story.
Bonnici @ Jul 20th 2008 7:36AM
How about you guys shut up bitching, play the game and then try and complain. If you obviously don't like the games why are commenting other than to look fucking retarded by all the nonsense that's coming out of the assholes on your faces ?
As for the "fan service" comment in the article how about this. The makers are catering to what real fans want to see, and the fact Pyramid head is part of the towns history so shut the fuck up.
vekna @ Jul 20th 2008 12:08PM
Maybe they should scrap the whole thing as "Silent Hill" and just make a videogame with the unspeakable horrors within Macaulay Culkin on some homicidal analogue of LSD that takes place during 'Nam, and the 15 minutes of diarrhea before he goes An Hero.
SILENT HILL: HOME ALONE.
Think about it; It virtually promises moar cash than the Pyramidcow.
Cam @ Jul 21st 2008 2:55PM
PH is in the game for three possible reasons:
1: Alex has guilt from what he did during his service in the military (killing people n all that)
2: There is another character in the game that has guilt n so PH is after him/her. PH ignores Alex unless bugged the crap out of or if u get in his way.
3:PH is there to continue with his executions as when he was still alive and still exists as long as the town is still standing.
But I guess we'll find out when we play n beat the game. Hopefully i'll still get that chill up my spine when I play it like the other SH games.
Ima R.Bot @ Jul 21st 2008 4:43PM
You are not a true fan of this series if the direction they're taking it in does not upset you in the slightest.
Seriously. Don't go and bitch and complain and tell me to "PLAY IT FIRST ASSHAT". All I have to do is some simple research and look at all the other "features" they've thrown in, and I'm disappointed enough already. They're recycling everything from that stupid-ass movie, and thinking they're being completely original. This looks like Silent Hill 2: Part 2 to me, if not SH The Movie The Game. All it's missing is Rose.
OH WAIT
